My Scrap Chick "Mom" Word Album and Cut Flowers

Hello Friends! Let me tell ya'. . .I literally turned over my craft room to create this project! LOL! You're wondering "why". . .it's not like there's anything really complicated about it. Well, let me explain. . .I wanted to use my "Bind it All" and I could not find it. I cleaned my craft room a few months ago and I did not know where I stored it! Uggggh!! Anyway, the good thing is I found it, the bad thing is my room is now in a serious state of chaos!

Okay. . .let me talk about my project!! I created this word album using the $1 Mom Word Album cutting file from myscrapchick.com and using my Cricut Expression to cut the album. Do you see the layered flowers? I used the "Cut Flowers" file, again from mycraftchick.com! OMG! I am so in love with the files at myscrapchick.com and my Cricut. No more punching, no more hand cutting! Do you know much time I saved by having my Cricut cut all the shapes for me? This album would have taken me a few days if it weren't for the files and my Cricut but it only took me a day to finish up the album! I'm so happy about that!

Because there's a lot of photos. . .I'll write short captions for each photo. This is the front of the album. I used my K&CO designer paper and Making Memories metal and chipboard embellishments.

The flower next to the photo is another flower file from the $1 Cut Flowers file from mycraftchick.com

This photo of me and my husband and my grandmother and daughter. My grandmother (who adopted me when I was little) passed away a few years ago. I miss her immensely. I could tell you stories about her. . .she was such a strong woman. . .she endured a lot of hardship. . .I'll talk about her another time.

This is a photo of me, my daughter and my grandmother. I created the sentiment by using a scrapbooking program and used the "word art" feature to create the rounded effect.

Another close up of me and my husband's photo.

A close up of my grandmother and daughter's photo. I created the heart shape and sentiment using my Photo Shop program.

These two photos highlight the layered flower using the "Cut Flowers" file. All I did was adjust the size of each flower cut by 1/2" each and layered the flowers after cutting them.

Anyway, be sure to stop by myscrapchick.com and check out all the fabulous $1 files. You'll love them as well as all the other files!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!! I'm off to clean my craft room! Wish me luck! LOL!

My Scrap Chick Bow Bunny Digi Stamp and Purse Box Gift Set

Hi Friends! I've been busssssssssy! I'm craftin' away . . .seriously craftin'! But as busy as I've been, I'm having so much fun! I'll be posting a few of my projects in the next few days. . .some are new release stuff so I can't show them to you right now.

Myscrapchick.com now has a fan page on Facebook. If you're on Facebook. . .be sure to become a fan and you'll receive this Bo Bunny digital stamp for free and a few other digi stamps! Here is the link: Click Here When myscrapchick.com hits 200 fans, she'll release a few patterns for fans only so be sure to join in.

Myscrapchick.com is also looking for designers so check out the design team call here.

The gift set project I created was created using the Bow Bunny digi image and the "Purse Box Round Scallop (#1717)" file from the 30 Boxes and More set. If you have a Cricut or other cutting machines, creating the Purse Box is easy as 1,2,3~ I'm serious!!! If you don't have a cutting machine, PDF files are also provided so you can hand cut the different boxes manually.

I think these are the most simplest designs I created in a long time. I am donating them to my church nursery so I had to make them kid friendly! I don't want to be responsible for a child choking! That would be bad. . . so I had to keep the design simple where nothing will fall off accidentally. I figured the brads are safe because they won't fall off the card unless the child tears up the card and pull off the brads.

The projects are meant for Easter but I didn't want to add an Easter sentiment because I'm really not sure what the church will do with my projects. By not adding an Easter sentiment, they can do whatever they want with them.

I'm in the process of creating "boy" gift sets. . .but I won't be creating them with the purse box. .. I don't think the little boys will appreciate receiving a purse box. .. LOL!

Anyway, check out the myscrapchick.com site. . .there's a lot of fun stuff there!! Also, join the fan page on Facebook and you'll have access to a few digi stamp images! I love freebies, don't ya'?

Hope y'all have a beautiful Monday!!

Paper: DCWV designer paper, SU Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery

Scrap Pile Saturday Challenge #5

Hello Friends!! Well, it's Saturday and that means a new Scrap Pile Saturday challenge!! This week's challenge will be a simple one. . .:) Don't you love simple challenges? LOL! This is going to be a really quick post! I'm pre-scheduling the post because we'll be heading to the Wild Animal Park early today! Yay! The Wild Animal Park is like a safari. . . .I'll be sure to take a lot of photos of the animals!

Before I discuss the challenge. . .I want to highlight the participants of last week's challenge.

Gina Marie - Scrap Crazy
Sheryl - Sheryl's Crafting Corner
Debbie - the Paper Garden
Tracey - My Creative Place
Kelli - Wink and a Smile Creations
Lindsay - Frugal Crafter
Lindsay - the Frugal Crafter
Linda - Linanna Designs
Michele - Creative Treasures

Now to this week's challenge

Create a card using a minimum of 3 DIFFERENT patterns of designer papers. . .all from your scrap pile only

Okay, here are the rules:

1. Other than your card base, the face of your card MUST be created using ONLY designer paper and card stock from your scrap pile. Do not cut up any new card stock or designer paper.

2. Embellishments added to your card MUST be from "opened" packages. Do not open up a new package or roll of ribbon, brads, buttons, etc.

Starting this week, I'll be using a different linking platform. We'll see how it works out. I like this linking style because it'll show the picture of your card directly on this post. If you want to play along, link your card below! Hope you'll play along this week!

Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!!

Christmas Stampin All Year Long Challenge #45 - So Many Embossibilities!

Hello Friends!! Happy Friday to all of you! It's Friday so that means it's a new challenge at Christmas Stampin All Year Long!! Yup! This week is an easy challenge! It's been tough ones the past few weeks but this week, it's pretty simple but oh, so fun!!! Stop by the challenge blog and play along with us! We'd love to see your beautiful Christmas card!!

Vicki of Summerthyme Studio came up with a fabulous challenge for us this week. The challenge is to add some sort of embossing on your card whether it's dry or heat embossing! Well. . .I did both and more! Not only did I do some dry and heat embossing on my card but I also added dimensional paint to my card and I created 2 of them! I meant business this week! LOL!!

I can't remember the Stampin Up set I used for this card. I'm too lazy to pull out the set and check the name of the set. . .sorry, but it's almost midnight and I'm prescheduling this post. If you want to know the set name or the card recipe, email me. You're probably wondering how I'm going to fit my cards into envelopes with the huge bow on my cards! Well, where there is a will, there is a way! LOL! I've done it before . . .:) Seriously . . . the trick is to create your card about 1/4" to 1/2" smaller than the envelope size. By doing so, it'll provide a bit of space for your big bows!

Okay. . .I'm not sure if the arrangement of the pine cone and the branch is correct. For those in the know. . .is that how it suppose to look?

There's a lot things going on with my card! LOL! I just can't seem to make a simple elegant card. I try but I keep adding and adding stuff. . .uggh!

Here is a quickie instruction on how I created my card:

  • First of all I ran the white background through my Sizzix embossing folder.
  • I then stamped the images on white card stock using Versamark ink
  • I applied gold embossing powder to the stamped images and heat embossed the images
  • I added Tulip Fabric Paint to parts of the images to make it look like snow
  • Before the fabric dried, I added clear glitter to the paint and allowed it to dry
  • I cut out the images then mounted to the embossed panel
  • I matted the embossed panel on to gold metallic card stock
  • Finally I added the 1 inch ribbon

I don't know if you can see it but the white area of the image is puffed up with the fabric paint and it also has a bit of shimmer from the glitter.

Anyway. . .today is going to be a busy day. . .I won't be home to craft today until later in the afternoon! Whaaaaa! Then tomorrow, I won't be home all day again. My daughter wants to visit the Wild Animal Park in San Diego as a birthday gift. She loves animals and wants to work at the Wild Animal Park as an intern one day. I think she wants to be a Vet but she wants to test it out first before she decides on her biological science major concentration. She knew from the age of 5 that she wanted to be a Vet or wild life conservationist. I think it has to do with her watching the Animal Channel and Animal Rescue show when she was a small child that made her decide that she wants to work with animals. It's funny because I don't remember deciding on a career field that early in life. I think I finally made a decision on a career when I was already in college! LOL! Isn't it nice to know what you want to do with your life by the age of 5?

Well I hope y'all will play along with us at CSAYL! Be sure to stop by and check out the beautiful cards the design team created!!!

Hope y'all have a beautiful Friday!!

My Scrap Chick Card Shapes and Windows

Hello Friends!!! My. . .I sure was busy yesterday! I've been in a serious crafty mood! Big time! I am so in love with my Cricut Expression and Sure Cuts A Lot 2 program. . .I think, other than my Copics, they've been the best crafting investment I've made . . well, more like my husband. LOL! My husband gave me the Cricut and SCAL2 program for Christmas and honestly, I really had no real desire to have the Cricut. I thought about the cost of buying all the cartridges and well, I've already spent way too much on crafting stuff already. . .I didn't think I wanted to buy any more expensive stuff.

Anyway. .. my husband did some "research" and bought the SCAL2 program along with my Cricut. He knew about SCAL2 before I did. LOL! Now, with the SCAL2 program I have more versatility so that I can use various cutting files and not have to buy so many cartridges which are so expensive. I must say, I am really blessed to have a husband who really puts in a lot of thought into my crafting needs and always being so supportive of everything that I do!!!

Well. . .let's get down to business. Do you see all the shaped cards? Well, I created them using the cutting files by My Scrap Chick!!! If you like creating boxes, shaped cards, and cards with windows, you'll love the "30 Boxes and More" set. Wow. . .you'll receive 30 box templates/files, 12 shaped card files, and 12 Window/frame files!! The possibilities are endless with this set!!

With this card, I decided to use the Circle Scallop file and Bracket Window file. You can use any window so you can basically create a ton of different cards. I love it! I decided to suspend the heart by using the "Heart Window File" and attaching a string to hang the heart.

Card Details:

Stamps: SU Matchbox Messages
Papers: K&Co designer paper
Ink: SU Real Red, Scribbles Iridescent Paint
Accessories: My Scrap Chick 30 Boxes and More set, Grosgrain ribbon, Fa lala button, embroidery floss

With this card, I used the Square Scallop Half Scallop card shape file and the oval window file. The half lace has the eyelet lace in the front and regular scallop (without the holes) in the back. I used Scribbles Iridescent Paint to create the dots.

Card Details:

Stamps: SU Belle Blossoms
Paper: K&CO Designer paper, SU Pretty In Pink, Sage Shadow
Ink: SU Real Red, Scribbles Iridescent Paint
Accessories: My Scrap Chick 30 Boxes and More set, Prima Flowers, button, Prima Flower

With this card, I used the Square Scallop Shaped Card and Heart Window files. I also used the same heart window file to create the small hearts on my card.

Card Details:

Stamps: SU Belle Blossoms
Paper: DCWV Designer Paper, SU Cool Caribbean, More Mustard
Ink: Scribbles Iridescent Paint
Accessories: My Scrap Chick 30 Boxes and More set, SU ribbon, Ric Rac, Lace, designer pin, charm

Before I go, I wanted to answer a question that Hope had on my previous post. I couldn't email her back because she is set as no reply and she doesn't have a blog. She asked how I created the even edge when distressing my cards. Well, I use a "Sponge Dauber" rather than a large sponge or directly rubbing ink from the ink pad. Using the sponge dauber allows an even distribution of ink to the edge of the card stock and more control of the amount of ink applied.

She also asked what are the width of the ribbons that I use on my cards. . ..most of my ribbon size are 1/2" to 5/8". Once in a while I'll use 1/4" and 1" but not too often.

Anyway. . .stop by My Scrap Chick and check out all the fabulous cutting files. My Scrap Chick provides files for most cutting machines as well as png files if you want to hand cut the shapes and images.

Hope y'all have a wonderful Thursday!!!

Scrap Pile Challenge #4 Cards

Hi Friends! It's my 2nd post of the day! I decided to create more cards for this week's Scrap Pile Saturday Challenge #4. The goal of the challenge is to create cards using only your scrap designer paper and card stock and opened packages of embellishments. The challenge this week is to create a card using a stamp you've never used and following the sketch. To view the challenge and play along: Click Here

OMG! These cards were so fun to create! I finally had a chance to use my SU Charming set. I'm not sure why I never used this stamp set. . .I guess it's because I never had a real reason to use it but now that I have, I love the stamp set. I think I just may need to use the set again. The dps are from my scrap pile and I believe it's a SU designer paper. It looks like it. I think it's been in my scrap pile for a long time but I've never digged through it to find such pretty pieces of designer paper. I think the DPs are retired. Whaa! They're pretty!

With this card, I used another SU designer paper from my scrap pile. I believe it's from the Parisian summer DSP but don't quote me. The designer rhinestones are SU as well. Again, I decided to use the SU Charming stamp set.

I'm not sure I like this design too much. My diamond embellishment at the bottom is crooked. Darn it! I only noticed it after I had uploaded the photo. The sentiment is from a stamp I've never used and didn't even know I had. . :) It's by Uptown Rubber Stamps. .. I don't even know if that stamp company still exists! LOL! The dps look like they are by K&Co. I'm not sure. . .again, they are from my scrap pile.

Anyway. . .here are the other cards that I posted earlier today. I made a total of 6 cards and I'm going to make more! Yay! Well, I better get back to business. . .

Hope y'all are having a wonderful day!

Crafty Mission and Sketch

Hi Friends! Believe it or not but I made 6 cards in 2 hours! Sheesh, I was on the roll! Well, it was easy because I used the same layouts but changed the image, embellishments, and colors. I'll post the other set of 3 cards on my next post. All of the embellishments, designer papers, and card stock except the base are from my scrap pile. Can you believe it? My goal today was to focus on using up my scrap pile and using sentiment stamps that I have never inked. I have a ton of stamps that I've never inked ever. .. there's too many of them. I went into my garage today and pulled a few stamps that I have never used and plan to use them. I'll work on a few more today. How fun!!!

I saw this card by Heather of Witty Title Here and I really thought it was a pretty card to follow. Her card is obviously prettier but I loved the simple and elegant design. Gosh, there's so many talented crafters out there. .. I'm so inspired by many of them. I think I'm going to look for more crafters and use their cards and projects as inspirations. I created a sketch for Heather's layout ....check it out below.

The sentiment is by Unity Stamps (March KOM) and the border punch by EK Success. I'm not sure who makes the dp because they came from my scrap pile.

With this card, I used another Unity Stamps (Remember Happiness set) and the punch is by Martha Stewart. I also used Prima flowers and I believe the dp is by K&CO.

The stamp on this image is by Print Works. . .I think the dps are by SU and DCWV. I'm not positive. The ribbon is by SU.

Don't be surprised if you see more posts today. I am in a serious crafty mood today!!! I'll be dropping off my cards and projects to my church this week so I am in full crafty mode! I'm on a mission this week to create as many cards and projects as I can! It's fun to have a goal. . .try aiming for something high. . .like making as many cards as you can, like a crafting marathon. You'll be amazed how many cards and projects you can make!!

Anyway, I hope y'all have a beautiful Tuesday!!

Pink Cat Studio Digi Stamp Release

Hi Friends! Today Pink Cat Studio is releasing their digi stamps early this week! Typically, Pink Cat Studio releases their stamps on Thursday but Easter is rolling around the corner so you'll need to start your Easter cards soon! It's all about Easter for this week's release. I forgot the release was early this week otherwise I would have created more projects. I'll post more of them this week! I want to play with the rest of the cute images!!!!

I decided to create a card and a matching Easter basket!! You can find the template at "My Scrap Chick". They sell templates for boxes, as a matter of fact "My Scrap Chick" provides 30 boxes along with frames and other templates all in one set: Click Here. You'll have so much fun with all the templates!!!

I decided to use "Lily and Chicks Paint an Egg" for my card!! Isn't she a cutie or what!! I love this image because it is so adorable!! I colored the image with my Copic Markers and shaded the background using my Pebbles Inc pastels.

Here is another view of the basket. I used the "Easter Lily" image for this project. When I cut the image, I wanted to enlarge the size so I changed the "width" size but forgot to keep the proportion. When I had cut it on my Cricut Expression, I noticed that the left and right flaps were uneven because I forgot to adjust the length. But!!! It worked out perfectly because I ended up folding down the flap and I love how it turned out!! Again, you can find the template at "My Scrap Chick".

Okay. .. be sure to stop by the Pink Cat Studio Blog and check out all the super cute creations by the design team and a few guest designers this week! There's a lot of cuteness going on there!

Card/Project Details:

Stamps: Pink Cat Studio Digi Stamps
Paper: K&Co designer paper, SU Only Orange, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
Accessories: myscrapchick.com 30 boxes template, Martha Stewart border punch, grosgrain ribbon, Nestabilities, satin/organdy ribbon, SU Word Window Punch

Photo of the Day

Before I go, I wanted to share a photo of my daughter (left) and her cousin Melissa! She was staying with us during her Spring Break (she attends college in Colorado) and we visited Disneyland during her stay. These two grew up and did everything together when they were little. As a matter of fact, their first trip to Disneyland when they were little they did together. As they grew older, especially because we moved to California, they sort of grew apart so it was nice that they could reconnect again.

This is a photo of my daughter and her cousin when they were 5 years old. They always trick or treated together and they loved wearing Disney costumes for Halloween! Aren't they adorable!

Well, today I'm free to do what ever I want. . .my daughter just started her Spring Break so that means I don't have to get up early in the morning to drop her off to school. That also means I get to stay up late! I'm so excited about a whole week of being free! You know what I'm going to be doing. . .:)

Hope you have a wonderful day!!
