It's All About Pink Cat Studio

Good Morning Friends! Hey, Pink Cat Studio will begin their sneak peeks for the June sets on Monday and will be released.

Here is the blinkie for the release. If you want to post it on your blog, click here for the code.

To get you excited, I decided to create a few cards using past Pink Cat Studio images. This card is from the Lily & Billy Sweetheart set which is available at Pink Cat Studio.

I colored Lily & Billy with my Copic Markers and do you see the little dots. . .I used my Scribble Iridescent paint. I love the stuff and have so much fun using them.

Don't forget to scroll down for my second card.

Card Details:

Stamps: Lily & Billy Sweetheart, SU Playful Petals
Paper: DCWV designer paper, SU More Mustard, Cool Caribbean
Ink: Copic Markers, Sakura Gel Pen, Tim Holtz Distressing ink, Scribbles Iridescent Paint, Twinkling H20
Accessories: Grosgrain ribbon, SU Word Window Punch, Brads

I just learned yesterday that a childhood friend has cancer. I also learned a few weeks ago that another childhood friend has cancer. Gosh, I can't believe it. Both have children that are still in school. I feel so sad for them.

It scares me a bit. I remember when I was working at the hospital and I would see cancer patients in their 30s and 40s. It makes me think of my own mortality. I never really got a good handle on that aspect of being an RN. Instead, I decided to work in OB/GYN because there were less chances of patients being sick or are dying.

I recall when my daughter's father passed away suddenly when she was 6 years old. I was left to care for my daughter by myself. I was still in nursing school and during that time I was assigned to the Oncology unit to care for the cancer patients.

It frightened me. I would pray and ask God to not let anything happen to me because my daughter would be alone. I started to check my body for swollen lymph nodes because for many cancer patients, a swollen lymph node was what prompted them to see a doctor. Many times cancer is insidious, with no symptoms until you're at an advanced stage or the cancer has metastasized. A swollen lymph node begins to present itself and that's sometimes the only sign that something is wrong.

Life is short and we have a tendency to sit around and ponder what we want to do, rather than actually doing it. Dreaming of things that we wish we could accomplish but never putting effort to realize that dream. I think we should take the time to "live" our lives and not wait around for things to happen.

Anyway, it is really sad to hear of such bad news of my childhood friends. My prayer goes out to them and their family. Thank goodness for Facebook or I would not have known about it. FB is amazing because I've reconnected with so many of my childhood friends since signing up. I don't go on often lately because I just haven't had time but it's so nice to hear from them.

Anyway. . .enough with the sad stuff.. This card was created from the Pink Cat Studio Kiki Kitty Plate 1.

Again, I colored the image with my Copic Markers. Be sure to check back on Monday for the sneak peeks!!

Today, be sure to take the time to do something you want to do but always put off doing. . .even if it's something simple.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hi Maria

So saddened to hear of your friends. Recently we lost both my step dad and my FIL to cancer and both so suddenly. You are right in saying we should live our lives. xx

Your cards are lovely, I remember when those stamps came out and I kept saying I must get them but then I forgot about them and seeing your beautiful cards made me remember.

Have a great weekend xx

Hello my friend! What beautiful cards you made!! I especially love the 2nd one with those colors and papers :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your friends' illness. I'll say prayers for them. I really love hooking up with old friends via FB also...it's been a great reconnector. I agree---we should not take things for granted and go live our dreams... and that's sometimes hard to wrap my mind around when I'm in the middle of the muddle, ya know? Too scared to step out and do it, or don't have the resources (financial esp.) to go live my dreams. So I try to soak in as much as I can and love my girls and husband as much as I can. Thanks for the introspect today. Big Hugs to you!! I'm sure you'll be a great support to those who need it. xXx

I luv your card Maria & you used my favorite color! What an awesome card sketch!

Sorry to hear about your friends. Ever since I lost my twin sisters just over 10 years ago now, I'm always telling people to enjoy life & forget about keeping the house spotless. Life is too short & your house will be there long after your gone. I used to be a neat freak & my house had to be spotless but after losing my sisters that all changed for me.

Hi Maria! So sorry to hear about your friends. Cancer is such an evil disease which also took my Mother from me. We must all cherish our lives and loved ones and also thank the Lord for allowing us to be here living our lives. Thank you so much for always sharing your inner feelings with us ... you are such a wonderful person!

Your cards are absolutely gorgeous! You have been given a special talent that you truly enjoy, and for that I am thankful that we have been blessed with you!

Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

PS: It's sooo hot in Hawaii!

Maria,

Hi- I too have a mom who is currently dealing with cancer. She is fighting to stay alive. It is hard but I try to keep her focused on doing the things she loves - to be happy of the remainder of time here. To enjoy the little things and to keep participating in life. While I am a firm believer that your attitude changes your circumstances...in this case it won't happen...the disease rules - it is up to the body how long they can fight the disease.

I will pray for your friends...prayer does help I think if not only to give you peace but also those fighting the disease...it is a little coud of love hovering over them that we offer through prayer.

God Bless
