Loved the Movie Juno - Sorry No Crafting Post Today

Hi Everyone!! Sorry, I have no card post today or the past few days. I've been seriously slackin'! Sorry about that. . .I've just been busy. . .arrgghh! I'll probably have something posted tomorrow or tonight. I have to see how my day will go. . .

Anyway. . .did you watch the movie Juno? I thought it was such a cute movie. My daughter taught me how to play the the song "Anyone Else But You" on the guitar. It's the closing song in the movie. I have to admit, I think I do a better job with the song than the actors in the movie. . .LOL! It's such a cute song! I added the video of the song. . .you'll appreciate it if you've seen the movie. If you didn't see the movie, it may not have any significance to you but check it out anyway!

Until later!!

Thank You Set to Someone Special

Good Evening, Everyone!! This is a "thank you" gift set that I'm going to give to someone special who has been very nice to me. Hey, it may be you. . .LOL! I have a whole bunch of people that I need to send "thank you" goodies to. . .boy, I'm going to be seriously busy but that's okay. This set is just one of them that I finished and will be sending out. I really am slow sometimes in creating and sending out these things but if you've been nice to me. . .please remember, that I do truly appreciate it. The recipient of this thank you set has been a very nice blogging friend. . .who has always been thoughtful and kind to me. Thank you, friend. I hope you'll like them. It's nothing grand, but believe me, the thought is there!! You are truly appreciated!!

This is a card I made. . .it's a "hidden message" card or "slider" card. This is similar to the card my stampin' friend Joanne had given to me when we got together a few weeks ago.

Again, I don't know who the original creator of this technique, I just sort of figured out how to create it based on the card that Joanne had given to me. LOL!

This is how the card looks when the string is pulled. A little message is revealed.

Card Details:
Stamp Set: SU Friendly Flowers, Lots of Thoughts
Paper: My Minds Eye (MME) designer paper, SU Pumpkin Pie, Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip
Ink: SU Pumpkin Pie, Blue Bayou
Accessories: CTMH Bigger Brads, Grosgrain Ribbon, SU Ticket Corner Punch, Scallop Punch, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches

This is a little mini box that I decorated. I put a little something inside.

I think the SU stamp set I used was "Riveting".

This is a matching accordion mini album card. . .I guess. It's like a card but you can use it as a mini album too if you want.

The clip holds the album/card closed. The clip is by Making Memories, in the case you're wondering who makes these mini clips.

Here is the album/card when opened up. The size of the pages are approximately 3 1/2 x 3 1/2. I didn't decorate the inside so the person can add her own pictures or decorate it further and treat it like a card and send it out to someone else.

Anyway, I have a lot of work to do. . .I have a whole bunch of "thank you" cards and handmade gifts to work on.

Until later!!

Happy Saturday!! Baby Card

Don't forget to scroll down and listen to the cool music I posted on my previous post. . . .

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!! I got up early today and went to a bunch of garage sales. I didn't find anything interesting. I usually find a bunch of cool craft stuff to alter like photo frames, baskets, etc. The only thing I found was a stack of envelopes that I can use for pocket projects. I found a box of 500 business size envelopes for 50 cents!! Hey. . .nothing can beat 50 cents, right~

Anyway, just a card I made a few nights ago. The cardstock and designer papers are all from scrap pieces that I'm trying to reduce.

I colored the image using SU markers on watercolor paper. I actually didn't do a good job with the coloring so I went over parts of it with Copic Markers.

Nothing much else to the card.

Card Details:

Stamps: Stampin Up (I can't remember which ones right now)
Paper: SU Wild Wasabi, Lovely Lilac (?), DCWV textured cardstock, Watercolor paper, DCWV Nursery paper
Ink: SU markers on watercolor paper, Copic Markers
Accessories: SU photo corner punch, Key tag punch, Fiskar scallop scissors, Stickles Glitter, Basic Basic ribbon

Love these songs. . .Check them out!!

Anybody watch the movie "The Garden State"? I thought it was an interesting movie. I watch a lot of "indie" movies . . .I've been watching "indie" movies long before they became "mainstream". LOL!! One of my favorite indie movie is " A River Runs Throught It". It's an excellent movie if you've never seen it. If there's any incentive, Brad Pitt is in the movie. LOL!! Don't be fooled because Brad Pitt is in the movie and it centers around fly fishing. . .the cinematography is beautiful and the story is very touching. It's a beautiful movie. It actually won several academy awards.

Anyway, back to "Garden State". . .there's this song on the soundtrack called "Let Go" by Frou Frou that was covered by the band "Boys Like Girls" and I just LOVE their version. Anyway, I posted the "live" version of the song by Boys Like Girls. Listen to it . .tell me what you think of the song!

Here is another song that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE by Jason Mraz . . .the message is so nice. It's called "I'm Yours". I love Jason Mraz live. . he's awesome!! Any of you like Jason Mraz? If you don't know him, I think you'll like him after watching the video below.

Hope y'all have a WONDERFUL DAY!!

SCS Thursday Challenge - WT163 - Lattice Card

Good Morning Everyone!! This is a card I submitted for yesterday's SCS Ways to Use It Challenge - WT163.

I didn't have the time to post it on my blog yesterday. Do you see the lattice border? Well, remember I said that I got together with my stampin friends the previous week. . .

Joanne (my previous SU upline) showed us this technique and I messed up on my card. I had to create another one and this is what I came up with.

The first few times I did it. . .well, it didn't turn out well. After a bit of practice, I was able to create a decent looking one. LOL!

It's actually quite easy to create the lattice work. Thanks Joanne for showing me this awesome technique. I'm not sure who the original creator of this technique so I can't credit that person but I have to credit Joanne for showing it to me!!

Card Details:

Stamps: Inkadinkado Cupcakes, Chelsea Sentiments
Paper: CTMH Heavenly Blue, Black, DCWV Designer Paper
Ink: Copic markers
Accessories: 1 1/4 circle punch, SU Scallop Punch, Sakura Souffle Opaque gel pen, Basic Basic ribbon, SU Key tag punch

Hope y'all have a WONDERFUL Friday!!

Happy Graduation Card

Hi Everyone! Just a second post today! I actually made this card the other night. . .sort of randomly. I was about to go to bed and I had the cat image lying around waiting to be put on a card so I just quickly made this card.

I have a lot of images that I color and store for future use but the problem is I sometimes forget to use them and there they sit.

No designer paper on this card! Whoohoo!! I wanted to create a card with just stamping. . .you know, no designer paper to help me. LOL!

I used 3 different stamp sets for this card. The primary image is by Penny Black which I colored using SU Markers on watercolor paper. The background was stamped using SU "Tassle Time" and the "G" is from the "Great Grads" stamp set.

The color combo is Wild Wasabi, Cranberry Crisp, and Blue Bayou. I love this color combo!

Anyway, I think this will be the last post for this blog site for today. I have a bunch of errands to run. . arrgghhhh! The days go by so quickly. . .I can't get a handle on it sometimes. My husband and I were just discussing the fact that last week was the "Virginia Tech Shooting" one year anniversary and holy! I can't believe that a whole year went by since that tragedy occurred. I honestly feel like it was only a few months ago when I saw it on television. Really. . .it just amazes me how time is just flying. My husband said that it may be because I'm having fun. I guess he is right. It sure beats being bored with life and time goes by slowly!! LOL!!

Anyway, hope you are all having a wonderful day!!

SCS Wednesday Sketch Challenge - SC173

Good Morning, Everyone! I participated in yesterday's SCS sketch challenge - SC173 I didn't have time to post it on my blog.

It was a fun sketch! I'm trying to step out of my box and challenge myself so these SCS challenges have been helping me to expand myself.

Nothing special to this card. . .the only thing I did that may be considered a "technique" was outline the leaves and heart image with metallic gel pen and Sakura Souffle Opaque pen. It sort of gives the image a 3D look.

The Sakura Souffle Opaque gel pen dries similar to heat embossing. It's heat embossing without the heat! LOL!

Card Details:

Stamp: SU Always
Paper: ATD designer paper, SU Wild Wasabi, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Pixie Pink, Sakura Souffle Opaque and Metallic gel pen, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip
1", 1 1/4", 1 3/8", SU scallop and Ticket Corner Punch, CTMH My Accents (swirl clip) and grosgrain ribbon

SCS Tuesday Color Combo Challenge - CC163

Good Afternoon! Well, I squeezed in the time to participate in today's SCS Color Combo Challenge - CC163. The color combo is Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, and Pretty in Pink!! Ooh, my favorite colors so this was an easy one!
I had fun creating this card because of the happy colors!! I've been accomplishing my goal to participate in at least two SCS challenges a week and so far so good! Here is my gallery if you care to look: Click Here and the challenge gallery: Click Here It's fun to see the different cards created using this color combo!!

Here is an angled view of the card.

I know it's busier than my typical card. I sort of kept going and going. . .KWIM! Somebody should have stopped me! LOL! All in all, I really loved the colors! It's so happy and so fitting for a birthday card! Don't you think?

After coloring the cupcake with SU markers on watercolor, I cut out the frosting and mounted it with foam tape to give it a 3D appearance. I also highlighted the image with acrylic paint and added a little bit of Stickles glitter.

Card Details:

Stamps: Inkadinkado Cupcakes and Round FramesPaper: SU Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, MME designer paper, watercolor paperInk: SU Markers on watercolor paper, Sakura Souffle Opaque Pen, Acrylic Paint

More Punched Designs - Stars and Diamonds!!

Good Morning, Everyone!! Okay. . .more of the punched designs. Are you getting tired of them? LOL! This time around I used my square punch and star punches!!

I'm having so much fun with them but I promise this will be the last ones for awhile or I'll come up with something different with the punches.

This card was created using a 1 1/4" inch square punches and an old SU star punch. I, again used textured cardstock. . .you can't really see it in the picture.

Nothing much else to the card.

Here is the card at a side view. It's interesting how the pattern looks different from the side.

The stamp set I used was from the SU Great Grads stamp set. The paper is by K&Co.

Scroll down to check out my card using the SU Star Punch.

I like the star pattern on this card. This time I used a smooth cardstock rather than a textured cardstock. The cardstock is CTMH Indian Corn Blue and the paper is CTMH "Serendipity" paper. The stamped sentiment is CTMH "For All Occasion". The metal star is by JoAnn scrap essentials (which you can't see) and the ribbons are organdy and hemp cord.

Here is the card at a side view. I mounted the stars using foam tape to give them a 3D effect.
Anyway, I'm working on today's SCS challenge. I'm really not in the mood to do challenge today but I'll see if I can create something. Today's challenges is the Color combo: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink. The combo is fabulous!
Until later, folks!!

Punched Circle Design

Good Afternoon! I've been having fun creating cards with punched designs. I created another card on Card Inspired with a similar design. I don't know if you're familiar with my other blog site but Card Inspired is where I post my "paper crafting" cards and projects meaning no rubber stamping. I mainly use card stock, designer paper, and scrapbook embellishments for cards created on Card Inspired.

Stampin Inspirations is where I post my "stamping" projects. Anyway, I designed this card using punched circles and mounting them with foam tape. I also used textured cardstock so the design stands out better.

I'm really having a lot of fun creating this sort of design. It's a simple design but nonetheless, I think it has a lot of character. I've been trying to come up with cards that are simple in its overall design.

I tend to make a lot of cards with busy layouts and I've been trying to come up with designs that are not my "typical" busy cards.

I like both simple and busy cards but I have a harder time with simple designs. I always feel I have to add more stuff to it but I'm trying to "stop" myself from having the need to pile things on to my cards.

Card Details:

Stamps: SU Riveting
Paper: DCWV embossed cardstock, DCWV textured cardstock, K&Co designer paper
Ink: Black Ink
Accessories: 1" circle punch, Basic Basic Ribbon, Card Creations rhinestone flower

Blog Candy and Mother's Day Pocket Card

Happy Sunday, Everyone!! Here is a card I received from Teri of "Big Ideas From A Little Girl " Teri is a blog sistah from Hawaii!! Yay! Isn't her card AWESOME!! It's so pretty and colorful. It's very glittery in person! GORGEOUS!!

Teri recently celebrated her 1 Year Blogaversary and she was giving away blog candies to celebrate her one year of blogging and guess what!! I won a prize. Surprise, surprise!! I rarely ever win anything so when I received my package, I was SUPAH thrilled. It was a surprise because I didn't even know I won. I love surprises. . .especially when its happy mail!! LOL!!

Be sure to drop by Teri's site. She has GORGEOUS stuff to share . . .all her creations are AWESOME!! Be sure to scroll down to check out my goodies!!

Whoohoo! Check out the blog candy I received from Teri!! Awesome! I love American Craft Elements ribbon. . .one of my favorite brand of ribbons. I also received felt flowers, vellum scrap pieces, a flower chipboard, turtle wood shape, and a SU stamp! I love them all!!!!

Thank you Teri for the wonderful blog candy! I definitely will put good use to these awesome stuff!!

Here is a pocket card I made this morning. It was just sort of a random decision to make a pocket card. I had a scrap piece of designer paper and cardstock in my scrap pile. I folded it like a "gate fold" card and folded the bottom to create a pocket. I then tied a ribbon around it. That's it. There's no template or anything that I followed. It was just a random sort of thing, KWIM?!!

I stamped the sentiment and image on to a tracing paper, not Vellum. They're similar but the tracing paper is a little thinner than vellum but the end result is similar.

Nothing much else to this pocket card.

Here is the card out of the pocket. It's just a simple design. Lately, I'm drawn to simplicity. Just a change to my normal busy cards!! Sometimes simple is good. . .don't you agree? It's sure faster to make a simple card!! I love it!

Card Details:

Stamps: SU All Year Cheer II, Autumn Leaves Swirl 2
Paper: SU Blue Bayou, ATD designer paper, DCWV textured cardstock, Tracing paper
Ink: SU Blue Bayou
Accessories: Making Memories Daisy ribbon, Oragandy Ribbon, round corner punch

Simple Things. . .

Happy Saturday, Everyone!!! Please take the time to listen to one of my favorite songs called "Simple Things" by Jim Brickman. I couldn't find a video of Jim Brickman so the video is primarily just the music. It's such a pretty song with such a beautiful message. When I listen to it, I feel a little sad and happy all at the same time. As the song says "time won't wait, life goes by, everyday is a brand new sky, every tear comes to dry". My husband's grandmother passed away last night and we didn't find out until this morning. She was such a wonderful, inspiring person. We will miss her dearly. I feel it's so important to spend quiet time with your loved ones. . . life goes by so quickly and sometimes we don't take the time to enjoy the simple things in life.

Last night we had such a nice evening hanging out in our backyard not realizing that my husband's grandmother had passed away. I think she would have been happy knowing we were doing something as a family.

We had installed an outdoor fireplace a few months ago but when we attempted to hang out during winter. . .brrrrr, it was too cold. No heater or fireplace could warm the patio up.

Well, now that it's warmer, we decided to hang out in front of the fireplace in our backyard.

Guess what I did??? Well, this is what I did while sitting in front of the fireplace. . .drink my coffee and read my craft magazines. . .LOL! I just can't keep myself away from crafting. Too funny!!

Later, my husband brought out the generator and hooked up our outdoor TV (he is setting it up in the picture above) and we watched a movie. It was fun. We plan to hang out in our backyard like this on a weekly basis.

My daughter bonding with our dog Phoenix. My daughter has similar funky glasses as I do!! LOL!! Awww, look at Phoenix. . . isn't he cute?

Here's my daughter with our dog Dakota at sitting next to her feet.

All in all, we had a WONDERFUL evening just hanging out in front of the fireplace in our backyard. Grandma Cels would have been smiling knowing we were happy.

We love you and will miss you Grandma Cels. I'll post a picture of her tomorrow. Hope y'all will take the time to enjoy the simple things in life!! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Stampin Get Together Cards

Last week I got together with my Stampin' gal pals, Joanne, Rebecca, Raquel, and Toni. We sat together chit-chatted and made cards. It was fun getting together.

This is an awesome card that we all made together. Isn't it an awesome design? This is Joanne's design. I really love that bee and the big B. Love the layout too! I think I may have to buy this stamp set!! LOL! I'm easily persuaded!
We made another card but I messed up on my card so I won't show it. I'll make another one and post it. Joanne found a technique that is so cool but when we were making the card, I messed up on my cutting and well, it's not presentable. LOL!!

This is a card that Rebecca made for all of us. I really love the pretty colors and the pretty rhinestone center. Such a gorgeous card!!

This is a card that Joanne made for me. I really love how the flower matches the flower on the designer paper. The colors are fabulous too!! Such a pretty card!

This is another card Joanne made for me. It is a hidden message card. Isn't it the cutest? I love this card! When you pull the string, a message is revealed. Thank you Joanne for both cards! They are both fabulous!

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend and happy stampin' everyone!!

SCS Thursday Ways to Use It Challenge - WT162 - Acrylics

Hi, Everybody! I posted this card a little late. This was yesterday's SCS Challenge WT162. I couldn't upload pictures on blogger yesterday. Did you have the same problem?

Anyway, yesterday's challenge was "Ways to Use it" and the product was "acrylics". Well, for this challenge I decided to use acrylic paint and an acrylic clear sticker that I placed on the center of the flower.

Close to my Heart sells this product called "Create A Shade Paint". It's an acrylic paint that dries clear so you would mix it with a few drops of your ink pad refills such as CTMH or SU. It then takes on the color of the refill. When it dries, it has a shimmery appearance similar to when you apply a little of Pearl Ex to acrylic paint.

Stamping Tip:

The beauty of acrylic paint is that you can stamp on non-porous material such as wood, plastic, or metal. It's best to use "solid" stamps as opposed to outline type of stamps. It works great with foam stamps like the ones sold by Making Memories.

Acrylic paint also is a great medium to paint chipboards, stamp background images on dark cardstock. When you stamp on dark cardstock, it retains its color against the dark background similar to light colored pigment inks. The reason is that it doesn't get absorbed into the paper. You can also brush it on to textured cardstock to give your cardstock a shabby chic look to it. There's many use for acrylic paint.

A great way to use acrylic paint is to add water or a mixative and use it as a watercolor medium. You can also mix the colors to create your own shades and tones. There's a lot of possibilities.
For my card, I used Making Memories Flower foam stamps to create the flowers. I then cut them out and layered it on black cardstock, curled the petals and layered them.

With the second picture, do you notice something different about it? Well, I added dots to it because I wanted to see how it would look if I added the dots. Which do like better? I don't know, I'm sitting the fence on which I prefer. I like busy cards but sometimes, too busy is well, too busy. KWIM? I see a lot of busy cards and I mean BUSY and sometimes it just too much going on that it can sort of distract from the main image or the message. I think there has to be a happy medium.
