Pink Cat Studio Lily Ballerina
Hello Friends!! I actually colored this Pink Cat Studio image a few weeks ago and I had set it aside to work on something else and totally forgot about it until today. Do you do that sometimes? Work on something then forget about it. It's kinda fun re-discovering them.
Do you see that beaded branch thing on my card? Well, I bought this package of them because they were on sale. I thought I could use it for something. . .I always do that. . .you know, buy stuff that I'm not sure I really need. Well, I decided to add it on to my card. It's something different.
I really had fun making this card because I used a few scrap pieces I had lying around. It's nice to actually use stuff that I have collected in a bin. At church service on Sunday, our Pastor talked about how the recession may be a good thing because it's made us more aware of our spending and that bouncing back from the recession shouldn't mean that we should return to our previous lifestyle. Our greed for material things has taken new heights and that rather than buying things and focusing on materialism to find happiness, maybe we should look to spending less, purging what we no longer need, and find happiness in the simple things in life.
It made me take a second look at my obsessive desire to buy new crafty stuff and I've come to the realization, I don't need any more things. I have so much more than I could ever imagine using within my lifetime (LOL) and that maybe it's time to either purge a few of them or at least start focusing on using them. It's difficult because I like pretty crafty stuff. I'll stop by the craft store or look online and there's always something new on the market. Sometimes I have to fight the urge to buy them. Do you feel that you overspend on crafty stuff?
I'm also looking at wanting to go back to crafting because I want to, not because I have to. I always feel because I've bought a lot of stuff, I HAVE to craft whether I'm in the mood or not. It's been weighing me down. I feel guilty when I prefer to do something else. How weird is that? Feeling guilty for not taking the time to craft seems rather strange to me. It's like I'm neglecting a family member or something. LOL! I have to remind myself that my craft stuff don't have feelings. Hilarious!
Anyway. . .I colored Lily with my Copic Markers and added a bit of glitter to parts of the image. I also added dots around the image using my Sakura Opaque pen. Below is a sketch I created. I haven't created a sketch of cards I created for such a long time. There was a time when I created a sketch for every card I made. Try it out and see what you can come up with!!
Well, that's it for today. . ..I hope you all are having a wonderful day. . .:)

what a cute idea to dot around... Hugs Finja
Good evening Maria, wow hunny you've been busy since my last visit with so many gorgeous cards. I love this image you've used here and those fabby papers, but i adore the floral cards below too, they are all stunning. Hope you have a great evening, hugs Linda x
Maria your card is so sweet as always!
I have been reading your post and weirdly enough I have been thinking about both things you have mentioned. Firstly the constant need in me wanting the next new thing out there even if I don't really need it. I am currently trying to convince myself I don't need a compressor but instead use my set of stamps and sponge to ink around my images! lol I also feel really guilty if i have a night off from creating and more recently i have been on a film roll with hubby and really enjoyed cuddling up spending time together but worry in case I'm getting behind. I seem to think this is because I'm on a few DT'S but really it is crazy! Sorry for the long post it is so true.
Hugs

I love how girly this card is - totally gorgeous!
Super adorable card, Maria!!
She is BEYOOOTIFUL!!!
Very sweet! I'm right there with you with about the craft overload. I've been keeping a notebook by my desk, and when something new catches my eye and I think I really need it, I record in my book and make myself wait 2-4 weeks before purchasing/ordering. I am amazed how many "must haves" turn into "eh-- I can live without it, or I have something very similiar that would work"
I would loved to see a weekly challenge based on using purely what is in our stash-- the older the better. Wouldn't that feel great?
What an adorable card! I love her pink hair!~
