Tissue Paper Distressing and Texture Tutorial - Shabby Chic Tags

Hi Friends! Hey. . .I created a tutorial! Yay! It's been a while since the last time I made one! It's a simple tutorial so it wasn't so time consuming to make. The tutorial is to create a distressed and textured appearance on card stock. . .or any type of paper crafting projects or altered projects that you may want to have a textured shabby chic look to it.

I decided to create a few distressed shabby chic tags for this technique. I created the base for a few more and all I need to do is decorate them. I've made three completed ones so far.

With this tag, I applied a paper flower that I created a while back and a heart lace.

With this one I also added lace, ribbon, seam binding bow and a crochet flower that I made.

With this one, I added lace again and a fabric flower that I made a few months ago.

Set of Angel Shabby Chic Vintage Inspired Tags

Hi Friends! It's me again!! Just another set of shabby chic vintage inspired tags that I made and listed on Etsy. I've been working on tags a lot because they're more versatile as far as selling them goes. They have multi-purpose use so I'm hoping they'll sell better than my handmade cards. I haven't had much luck selling my cards. I haven't been listing too many of my cards on Etsy. I will one day but right now I'm concentrating on selling "supply" items.

Again, I collaged various images in Photoshop then printed the images on to an off-white card stock. The rest of the tags mainly were about embellishing them with lace and crochet flowers.

I don't know. . .what do you think of the fan design? I wanted to do something different. I cut up a paper doily in 4 pieces and created a fan design.

I collaged various images in Photoshop. I altered the frame image that I downloaded from the Graphic Fairy. She has a ton of pretty vintage images! I changed the hue of the image to a teal color then collaged the angel and flower image. Fun stuff!

Here are the crochet flowers that I used for my tags. I dyed my white crochet flowers using Stampin Up Melon Mambo ink. I have a few listed in my Etsy Shop: Inspired & Unscripted. If you want to dye your own crochet flowers, I have a bunch of white crochet flowers listed. Stop by my shop. . .:)

Cherub Rose Collage Tags and More Crochet Flowers

Hello Friends! Gosh, I've been really busy the past few days. Creating of course but not any finished projects. I did create these cherub collaged style tags this morning. I've been meaning to create a few cards but lately I've been really enjoying creating tags. They're fun because tags can be used for various purposes such as card fronts for cards, scrapbooking embellishments, gift tags, book marks and even as Christmas ornaments. You can use it as a stand alone note card to send to someone too!

I collaged the images in Photoshop, cut the card stock, punched the corners with a round corner punch, then embellished the tags with lace, crochet flowers, dew drops, organza ribbon, seam binding bow and distressed the edge by rubbing ink around the tag.

Aren't the lace and rose trimming so pretty? I've also been having a lot of fun collaging images. I found the cherub image at Magic Moonlight. There are a lot of pretty vintage images on this site.

Again, I had to add a crochet flower to the tag! LOL! I love crocheting the flowers and adding them to my projects. I really love how they give a card, tag, or project a shabby chic vintage look!

I did crochet a bunch of flowers the past few days to include using a metallic embedded thread. They have a sparkly appearance.

These crochet flowers were made with embroidery thread rather than crochet cotton threads. They're a little bigger measuring 1.75 x 1.75" and the texture a little thicker than the crochet flowers which measures 1.5 x 1.5". I'll be crocheting a few more flowers in different colors using embroidery thread and will be listing them on Etsy.

I wish there were more time in a day to make all the things I want to make. I have so many ideas but well, I lack the time to be able to work on all of them.

Heart Shaped Shabby Chic Tags

Hi Friends! Just a quick post on this shabby chic heart tag set that I just finished creating and listed on Etsy. I think my next project will be a set of handmade cards but I wanted to work on one more tag set.

I cut my card stock with a heart die then stamped the heart image using my Unity Stamp. I rubbed ink around the heart shape to give it a bit of a distressed look then embellished the tags with lace, seam binding, crochet flowers, and faux pearls.

I listed a bunch of these crochet flowers in my Etsy Shop. I had dyed the crochet flowers with Stampin Up Pink Pirouette ink and I did the same with the seam binding so they match.

I stamped the image on to the heart shaped tag then just added all the embellishments.

I also worked on this set of lace flowers. It takes a lot of lace to create the flowers and I had enough lace to only make one set of these flowers. I wish I had purchased more of this lace. . .I think it's pretty.

Honestly, part of the reason why I'm making these lace and fabric flowers is that I have such an abundance of materials. I had this ambitious idea that I could create cards and projects with them but the truth is there isn't enough time in the day to create projects that would allow me to use up all the lace, ribbons, and buttons that I have. I thought that making embellishments will give me somewhat of the satisfaction of actually creating something with them. . . .:)

Shabby Chic Vintage Inspired Gift Tags

Hello Friends! I decided to work on a set of tags this morning! I'm really having fun making these tags that can be used as gift tags, card fronts, or scrapbook embellishments. Just to let you know I listed this set of tags in my Etsy Shop: Inspired & Unscripted.

I collaged the images in Photoshop then I embellished the tags with crochet flowers, lace, brads, and glitter.

I worked on a bunch of new crochet flowers this weekend. I decided to use a few of them on my tags. I layered two colored crochet flowers and attached them with a heart brad.

I normally don't add sentiments to my tags so that they are more versatile for multi-purpose use but I decided to add a sentiment to this set. The sentiment is pretty generic and can be applied towards various purposes. To give the sentiment a shabby look, I distressed the edge to give it a somewhat aged appearance.

Here is a new set of 10 crochet flowers that I listed recently in my Etsy Shop. I had crochet the flowers using an antique white colored crochet thread. I have a few sets listed.

Shabby Chic Vintage Inspired Tags and Stampin Up Pink Pirouette Crochet Flowers

Hello Friends! Happy Monday!!! I worked on a few tags yesterday! These tags may be used as gift tags, card fronts or scrapbooking embellishment. I listed them in my Etsy Shop: Inspired & Unscripted. I'm planning to make more of them in different designs!! I really had fun making them!

To create the tags, I cut the shape using my Stampin Up Top Notes die. The shabby chic vintage images were printed on an off white card stock. I had collaged the images on Photoshop using images from a CD of ephemera that I had purchased years ago. I distressed the edge using Tim Holtz distress ink to give them an aged appearance.

To embellish the tags, I added lace, crochet flowers, and seam binding bows. I had crochet the flowers using cotton crochet thread then dyed them with Stampin Up Pink Pirouette ink to create the pink shabby chic look and topped them off with faux pearls to the center of the flower. I also dyed the seam binding with the same ink and created a bow.

I added an organza ribbon to the tag to so it can be hung on a gift box or just as a decorative feature.

Here are the crochet flowers that I had used to embellish the tags. The size measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/2" and lay flat so that it can be used on handmade cards, scrapbook layouts or used as a layering flower. I've listed a bunch of them on Etsy as well as plain white ones so that you can dye them yourself if you want. Stop by my Etsy shop and check out the recent items that I've listed!!!

Well, I think I'm going to work on more flower embellishments. They are really fun to make. I'll have a bunch of them listed in my Etsy shop soon! I do have a few listed so far but I have a bunch that I still need to work on taking photos of and listing.

Shabby Chic Vintage Inspired Tags, Fabric Flowers and Embellishments

Hello Friends! Looks like Blogger is now fixed! Apparently it flaked out for the past day or so and bloggers weren't able to post anything. Well. .. now that Blogger is fixed, I can now post a few projects that I created.

I created this set of 3 handmade tags and I just posted this set in my Etsy store. My plan is to make more of them! I really had fun creating these tags. It's a fabulous way to use up my supplies! I can't wait to make more of them!

I printed the images using a vintage clipart from a CD I had purchased years ago! I cannot believe that the ephemera images have become useful again. There was a time way back when I first started making cards and other paper craft projects . . .my style was more of the shabby chic altered art collage type of design. I started to move away from this style because I started to create more of the "cute" designs that were popular in the paper crafting world. I didn't sell or got rid of my supplies because well, I'm naturally a hoarder and I thought that maybe I would return to this style again one day and I did! Yay!

Anyway. . .just a little info about the tags. I had "collaged" the images in Photoshop, then I printed the images on to card stock then cut the tags with my Stampin Up Top Notes die. I embellished the tags with lace. I added the heart chipboards that I had cut using a Sizzix die, painted with acrylic paint and sprinkled with glitter. I am making a whole bunch of crochet flowers to sell on Etsy and decided to use a few of them on my tags. I added the Prima that I had layered to create a rose type of flower and finally distressed the edge of the tags using Tim Holtz distress ink.

I just wanted to share a few more items that I had listed on Etsy. This is an embellishment set of fabric roses, shabby chic bows/stick pin and 2 x 2 off white crochet flowers that I created handmade. I also dyed the seam binding bow with an apricot colored dye and stuck a stick pin that I had embellished with faux peal beads.


Yesterday I had posted a bunch of fabric flowers on my blog that I worked on recently. I sorted through the different types of flowers and created sets to sell on Etsy. This set of fabric flowers measure 2.5 x 2.5" and they were made using a satin fabric and tulle.

I kept the loose threading on the flower because I love how it adds to the shabby chic look of it!

Here is a similar set of flowers as the white ones above but I dyed the edge of the flowers just to add color to them.


Honestly, I'm not really comfortable with posting the items I sell on Etsy because I don't want my blog to be a "promote my Etsy shop" blog but selling on Etsy is so competitive. If I don't "advertise" my shop to some degree, my shop will get lost amongst all of the other more prominant sellers on Etsy. The top sellers are usually promoted by other blog sites and websites so many times, the smaller shops like mine never gets seen at all. I would love to continue creating handmade items because I really do enjoy making them but I do need a source of income to continue so I hope you'll tolerate my "advertising" of my Etsy shop. . .:)

Well. . .for my tags I decided to go vintage! Yup! I love the vintage look to cards and tags. . .I think vintage screams romance, don't you think? Well I think so!! For all 3 of my tags, I created a polished stone effect by using alcohol inks. How fun!!!!


I love using lace on my cards and tags. They tie in really well with the vintage look. I added dew drops to the bottom to give the tag a little bling-bling. To be honest, these tags were really quick and easy to create. Other than heat embossing the Christmas tree and the sentiments on the 3 tags, the rest were basically adding the ribbons and lace.
