Okay back to the cute bird cage! Depending on the size you cut the file, it can be tall or short. The height of my bird cage measures about 7 1/2 inch tall from the very top to bottom and 4" wide. If you don't have a cutting machine, a PDF file is also provided. As you can see in the photo, the top opens up so you can put a goody bag inside like I did. There's 2 types of top available.

This one is a "Heart Basket"! There is also a "Heart Box" being released. I'll create a project with it on another day. You're thinking "whoa. . .that's a lot of blings going on with you basket"! LOL! Yeah. . . .now that I'm into jewelry making, it was fitting to make a beaded handle! Why not? It's something different but you can add a ribbon if you don't want to go nuts and add all the beads. . .:)

There's an extra heart panel included in the files and in SCAL, I just embedded the heart to the center of the box template and cut it so it provides an opening to the front of my box. I then added acetate (overhead projector film) over the opening so it's see through. If you don't want an opening in the front, you can use the heart panel as a regular panel as a decorative feature to the front of the box.

Do you see how I created the heart at the top of the handle? Well, I had made the handle too long so I improvised! I twisted the wire and shaped the top into a heart. It wasn't what I originally planned to do but it worked out fine. I actually really like it!!

Creations by AR also has embellishments! This butterfly comes in a set of embellishments! They are super cute and they will add a perfect touch to your Valentine projects!!! Check out the embellishments: Click Here Don't forget to check out the new template releases as well and the other awesome files at Creations by AR!! There are a lot of cute ones!!!

My Scrap Chick Birthday Bears and Bigger Bags

Happy Glorious Sunday, Friends! Today I decided to work on a gift set. I don't think I created a gift set for over a week. I played around with myscrapchick.com Birthday Bears, Bigger Bags, and Border Strips file. It was so much fun to use these sets of files. There's so many possibilites and they would make a great design for birthday parties. You could decorate everything with these files including the party favors.

I wish I had a younger child so I could create a party theme with the files, especially the "Birthday Bears" files. The file set has so many cute birthday themed cutting files

Here is the gift bag. . .it's a large size. . it measures 7 x 8" including the handles. Do you see the border strip? I resided the height to 1" and kept the proportion. It worked perfectly to thread a ribbon through it and create an "X" design to the border. I used the "Border Strips" file with the 2 holes. There's 6 different border strips to play around with. There's a lot of possibilities.

As for the bag. . it is large enough to fit a box of cookies as you can see in my photo. I used the "Bigger Bags - Short Scallop B"file. I resized the file to a height of 11.25" and keeping the proportions. If you resize it to that large, you'll end up with a 7x8" box.

This is the matching card I created. To shade the bear. . .I used pastels in the case you were wondering how colored the bear. I never thought I would ever have a reason to use my pastels again but I'm so glad I never sold it. . .it's an awesome coloring medium for cutting files. You can color, shade and highlight the images with the pastels.

Photos of the Day

Before I go. . .I wanted to share photos of stuff I created with my new hobbies. . .crocheting and knitting. I started loom knitting (not the traditional knitting way) using the Kniffty Knitter about 3 weeks ago and crocheting about a week ago and OMG! I've been obsessed with creating stuff since I've started. Sadly, crocheting and loom knitting has cut down on my paper crafting time but it's something new so I'm really into it right now. I have so much to learn so I'm really concentrating on learning new stitch patterns.

Anyway, here are the photos . . .

This beanie was the very first project I created with the Kniffty Knitter. Kniffty Knitter is a loom knitter. My beanie isn't exactly the best looking beanie but I like how it turned out considering it was my first time creating something with the loom. It was my test project. I think I'm going to add a crochet flower to the beanie so it'll look better.

This is my second beanie that I created with the loom knitter. I like how this one turned out. I did a better job with the brim of the beanie.

The scarf is the very first scarf I created with crocheting. I think it turned out pretty good for my first attempt with crocheting. I used a "V stitch pattern" to create the design. I'm working on a second scarf using the "Shell stitch pattern". I'm almost done with it. I've come to learn to choose my yarn wisely and not to automatically buy the super cheapy type. .. LOL! The results are prettier with good yarn. Anyway. . .I'll post my other crochet projects when I'm done with them. . .:)

Sorry for the long post. . .:) Hope y'all have a beautiful Sunday!!!

My Scrap Chick Flower Combo and Fabric Flower

Hello Friends!! I typically post in the mornings but I've been such a slacker with my card making lately. What? Yeah! LOL! Well for good reason! I recently learned how to crochet and I'm in the middle of crocheting my second scarf and I'm OBSSESSED! I'm excited that I'm learning a new hobby. I've been watching video tutorials on YouTube and practicing on the different stitches. Unfortunately, I've been using up the time that I normally reserve for my paepr crafting. It's nice to do something different so I'm happy taking a bit of time off from paper crafting. When I'm done with my second crochet scarf, I'll be sure to post it. Right now I'm learning to create a scarf using the "shell" crochet stitch. I just finished a scarf using the "V" stitch which I'll share later. .. :)

My next hobby that I want to learn is sewing and I bought a few fabrics and some remnants to play around with. I decided to create a fabric flower using myscrapchick.com "Flower Combo" file and cutting the fabric on my Cricut Expression. Some tutorials show you to use a sticky type transfer that you iron on to the fabric but I decided to follow this tutorial This tutorial uses "Stiffy" fabric stiffner which you can find anywhere fabric is sold or at Michaels. It works fabulously and a large bottle of fabric stiffner is quite economical.

When the stiffner dries, the fabric becomes stiff . . .duh! LOL! Because the fabric is "crispy", the blade on your Cricut cuts through it fabulously. I cut the flowers then I layered it and crunched it at the center and glued them together with fabric glue. Simple. It's like working with paper or card stock! Try it out!!

I used my TGF stamp. . .colored it with my Copic Marker. There's really nothing much else to this card other than layering and adding all the embellishments.

Well, I better start working on a few cards. I need to take a break from my crocheting. My wrist starts to hurt after awhile so I need to take a break or I won't be able to use my hand or end up with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. That would be bad!

Okay. . that's it for today! Hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday evening!

My Scrap Chick Flower Card and Amigurumi

Happy Father's Day, Friends!

First of all
I want to wish my husband
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
My husband has been a blessing in my and my daughter's life
He has been the best father a daughter could have
We are both grateful for all he do for us
Thank you, sweetheart!!

Okay. . .
This card was created using myscrapchick.com
"Flower Card" file
Isn't it the cutest flower ever?

I think this is the happiest card I've made in a long time
Just looking at it makes me want to make more of it
I think I'm going to create more of it this week!

I used K&CO designer paper, SU card stocks
Dew drops, Organdy ribbon, Button
Embroidery floss
and
The stitch was created using my Sakura Gel Pen

In the case you're wondering
I cut the file using SCAL2 and my Cricut Expression
Myscrapchick.com files
Also come in PDF if you don't have a cutting machine

Before I go, I wanted to share this cute little turtle. On Friday, my daughter and I decided to stop by Michaels and buy crochet needles and some yarn and learn how to crochet. We've never crochet before so we watched a few tutorials on YouTube to learn how to crochet. It took a lot of practice to figure out how to do a stitch. In my case, 50 attempts to do a double stitch! LOL!

My daughter wanted to focus on making "Amigurumi" (Japanese crochet dolls). She is fascinated by Japanese culture and honestly, I think she has a secret wish to be Japanese! LOL! Well, my daughter created this cute little turtle to give to my husband for Father's Day. Okay. . .lemme' tell ya'. . my daughter is not at all a crafty person and has no desire to be crafty so creating the crochet turtle meant a lot of hard work for her considering she just learned how to crochet on Friday. She spent many hours working on this turtle so as a Father's Day gift, it's worth more than anything bought.

I think my daughter and I found a crafty hobby that she and I can do together. Oh, we finally have a crafty bond. . .LOL! I could never make her craft with me so now, we have something that we can do together crafty wise. I'm in the process of making a scarf. . .I'll share it when I'm done.

That's it!

Hope y'all have a wonderful Sunday and Father's Day!!

Rather than sentences
How about blurbs?
Good Idea?

Just in case. . .
