TIC Day #2 - Three Way Baby! More Submissions

Take a look at what Jen from "Pieces of Me" made! This is a great example of "gate" tri-fold card! Jen submitted a tri-fold card for my Card Inspired blog site and decided to make another one using SU images, therefore, this one is posted on this blog site.

I love the color combo that she used for this card and the DP matches so well with the design. Jen recently hit 10K viewers on her site and she is celebrating with a blog candy. Drop by her site and participate in the celebration.

Thanks Jen for submitting your wonderful work!!

TIC Day #2 - (Tuesday's Inspirational Challenge) - More Submissions

Scroll down for more submissions.
Click Here for the details on this week's card challenge.

Hey Everyone! Gosh, it's almost midnight! Today was such a busy day. . .I didn't have time to make a card until late this evening. When the summer break started, I was glad because that meant I didn't have to wake up so early in the morning. . .well, that didn't last very long. My kids started summer school today. My daughter wanted to take an accelerated algebra II class because she wants to graduate with Calculus under her belt. My son is taking Geography! Unfortunately, they both could not take their classes at the same time so from today until the end of July, I'll be dropping the kids off at different times of the day. I have to do 3 back and forth trips everyday! ANNOYING!

Anyway, here is my submission for my TIC!! You're like. . .that's not a tri-fold card! In my opinion it meets the requirements of a tri-fold. The challenge requires that the card have 3 panels and it also can be accordion style. Well. . .this card has 3 panels and it's accordion style.

This project is called the "Flip-flop" card or "Swing Card". Click here for the SCS tutorial. I didn't do it exactly like the tutorial. . .my panels are different measurements to fit my image.

The card swings open to reveal a message.

Card details:
Stamp: In My Thoughts, the new SU sets Baroque Motif and Word on Word
Cardstock: Old Olive, Summer Sun, and Lavender Lace
Ink: Lavender Lace, Summer Sun, and Old Olive, Vanilla Craft Ink
Accessories: American Craft Elements ribbon, JoAnn brad

Here is another submission by Paula! This tri-fold is interesting and very creative. I love it! Paula said that this was a card in her reject pile but decided to pull it out and work on it. Well I'm glad she did because this is a wonderful tri-fold. I gotta try it out! Check out the details of this card on Paula's Blog site "Paula Ponders".

TIC Day #2 - Tuesday's Inspiration Challenge - Three Way Baby!! (Tri-Fold Card) Submission

Hey Everyone . . .Check out Julie's submission for my TIC! This is such a beautiful tri-fold card! I love the colors she used. Very elegant! Julie said she's never submitted her cards to any contest or anything like that and this is her first time.

Well I'm honored that she chose to submit her card for my challenge! Thank you Julie for playing along with my challenge! Your card is fabulous!

This Julie's card when it is opened up.

Hey Everyone! Here is the first submission for my TIC Day #2 - Three Way Baby!! (Tri-fold card).
This submission is by Paula! Wowwee! She sure was creative with the folds! I love it! Check out her blog site "Paula Ponders" for other great card creations and projects! Thank you Paula for being my first TIC Day #2 Challenger! You did a wonderful job!

I also participated in Paula's Sketch Challenge. Scroll down for my submission to her challenge as well as my submission for my TIC.

For details on my TIC Day #2(Tuesday's Inspirational Challenge) - Click Here

This is the second panel.

This is the card opened up completely.

This is my TIC submission! This is a tri-fold card that opens vertically at the top, the second fold opens horizontally to reveal the inside of the card.

I used Paula's Sketch Challenge (see above post) to do a double whammy! Her sketch challenge as well as my TIC.

The stamp set used for this card is Crab & Co. I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils with Gamsol, watercolored the crab background, and used pastels to color the card base. The scalloped edge was created using Fiskar's "Cloud" scissors. The color combo is Cool Caribbean, Lovely Lilac, and Brush Blossom

The sentiment shapes were punched using an oval punch, SU Key Tag Punch, and the scallop edge with Fiskar's scallop scissors.

The ribbon is by American Craft Element and the metal tag that says happy (you can't really see it) is by Colorbok. I'm not sure what brand I used for the heart brads.

The second panel was stamped using the new SU set "Year After Year" which was colored with Prismacolor Pencils. I used the "masking" technique to create the multi-layered presents. I colored the background with pastels and markers to create the sand.

Scroll down for pictures of the card opened up to reveal the 3 panels.

I'll add more tri-fold ideas as I make them!!

This picture shows the first and second panel at a vertical fold.

The card opens up vertically to show the second panel then horizontally to write your own sentiments on the inside.

TIC Day #2 - (Tuesday's Inspirational Challenge) - Three Way Baby!!!

Hey, Hey Everyone! Calling all participants. It's Tuesday and it's Challenge time. This week's TIC is "Three Way Baby". . .haha. . .I know that sounds a bit nasty but in the stamping and card making world all it means is to create a tri-fold card or project! Okay, so get your mind out of the gutter.

Here are the requirements:

Card or project needs to be a tri-fold card meaning 3 card panels.

It can be of any size or any shape.

The panels can be of differing size or shape.

No more than 3 panels. Let's stick to 3 folds only.

The panels can overlap one another, accordion style, or open door type.

Cards or projects don't have to be limited to rubber stamping. Paper piecing, drawn images, scrapbook embellishments are also accepted.

Okay. . .let's have fun. The pictures of 3 panel cards or tri-fold type of cards. The first is a vertical fold, the second card is a horizontal fold, and third is a "matchbook card" that don't open up to reveal 3 folds. The front panel tucks into the 3rd fold but it meets the requirement of a tri-fold.

Hope y'all participate.

Send me a picture of your card or project via email or post a comment with a link to your card from your gallery or blog site. I will post the picture on my blog site as well as your blog site or gallery address. My email address is lbmcd66@hotmail.com. Last day for submissions is on Sunday 12 midnight (PST).

On Monday, I will randomly choose a winner to receive a SHARE/RAK card (one of the cards I'll make for this challenge). Just a simple way to say "thank you" for participating in my TIC!!
Cards made with Stampin Up stamps (primary or focal image) will be posted on my Stampin Inspirations blog site and cards made with images other than SU will be posted on Card Inspired.

This is a vertical tri-fold. . .as you can see 3 panels.

This one has a horizontal tri-fold.

This is a matchbook card. The front panel folds into the 3rd panel but don't open up to reveal 3 panels. It still qualifies as a tri-fold.

TIC Day #1 - RAK Winner

Hello Everyone! Thank you for all the participants of my first TIC! I had so much fun with this challenge. . .it helped me to work a little harder in creating multiple layered cards. For those who participated, all of your work were wonderful and I hope you'll come back for my next challenge. For those who didn't have the chance to participate, I hope I'll see you on my next challenge!

Anyway. . .now for the winner of the RAK (it's not necessarily a RAK because you had to do something to receive it). I'll be sending a handmade card that I created for the challenge. I guess you could call it a SHARE rather than a RAK. I used a random selector generator to choose the winner.

The winner is JOYCE. Congratulations!
See y'all next time. . .

Test Post again

Why isn't my posts posting? This is a test.

The stamp set used for this card is from a SU set called Fairyland which is retired. It must have been retired for awhile because I've never seen this image on any cards. I love all the wavy pattern that Cindy used to give her card all the layers! Wonderful job Cindy.

I will be drawing the RAK winner today and I will email the winner! Thank you to all you lovely people who participated in my challenge. I'm glad you all decided to participate!

Great job . . .love the DP - plaid always works well with any design.

Wow another wonderful submission!!!!This one is from Jana! I love how she bordered the flowers. It looks very elegant. She used a great color combo. . .old olive just goes well with any color and it looks great with this color combo. . .it looks like more mustard, Eggplant Envy, and Old Olive. Jana's card has 5 layers. . .the flower and the ribbon is counted as a layer. Thank you Jana for your beautiful card creations. Jana does not have a blog site. . .she should considering how lovely her card is!

Good Morning Everyone! Here is Beth's submission to my TIC! She actually did several cards with 5 or more layers and they are all posted on her blog site "Sunflowers and Dragonflies". Great job Beth and thank you for participating!

TIC Day#1 - 5 Layers Minimum - #10 Envelope Size Card

Hello Everyone! Happy Sunday! This card is a 4 x 9 1/4 size card that I made for an "Office Supply" swap I participated in. It fits into a #10 envelope, hence my post title. The paper clip flower is the "office supply" that I used. The bottom half opens up to write your own sentiment and the top half is the card sentiment.

I used the new SU stamp set "Baroque Motif" that appears to be a very popular set. The swirls on the small flowers at the top, I added myself. The stamp don't come that way. The stamp is only the little flowers. There is a swirl pattern stamp that comes with this set but it's large. I just used markers and sort of duplicated the swirls from the large stamp and stamped the flowers.

Sometimes if you don't have it, you need to create it. Don't be afraid to add things that are your own personal touches.

The sentiment is from the "In My Thoughts" and "Everyday Flexible Phrases". I stitched around the edges with a sewing machine. The ribon is by American Craft Elements. The file folder bottom was cut from a Sizzix die.

This card has 9 layers including the stitches, paper clips, and the brad to fulfill the TIC - 5 Layers Minimum requirement!!

This is how the card opens up. The bottom half of the card opens up for your personal message.
Today is the last day to submit your TIC sample. Hurry and send me a card that you made! Drawing of the RAK will be done tomorrow.

TIC Day #1 - (Tuesday's Inspirational Challenge)

Scroll down to the second half of this post for the details of the TIC.

Barb asked me if this challenge includes following my sketches and the answer is "no". You can create any type, size, layout as you desire as long as it has a minimum of 5 layers. The sketches are just part of my regular posts.

I'm updating this post to add a few more ideas for you if you are stumped for ideas. The card to the right has 6 layers. I used the stamp from the stamp set "Romantic Rose" - a retired stamp set. I inked it with Stazon and stamped on to white mulberry paper. I colored the image using Twinkling H20, a type of watercolor that that has mica powder added to it to give it a shimmery effect.

Did you know that you can water color on mulberry paper and it won't fall apart. It can be completely wet and it will remain intact so try it out when you have a chance.

The card below was create using the new SU set "Baroque Motifs" which will be sold in the new upcoming catalog. This card is actually a "picture window" type of card. You can't tell by the picture but the flower is suspended by a string and it can move around. The purple background is recessed to give it depth. I achieved this by applying dimensionals to the front mat of the card so it is raised away from the card base. This card has 6 layers including the brads. I'll add more ideas as I continue to make them. Check out Card Inspired for a few submissions already posted. Please scroll down for the details of the TIC. . .

*********************************************

I decided to do a "Challenge Day" for several reasons. Stampers and card makers seem to like to be offered challenges to motivate them and "I" want to challenge myself as well. I want to be motivated to make different types of cards and not limit myself so this is my way of motivating myself to do different things with my cards.

What is TIC? It means "Tuesday's Inspirational Challenge". I ask that you participate in my challenge and submit your work via email or your blog address if it is posted on your site. I will post a picture of your work on my blog site!

The challenge will be posted on both my blog sites, Card Inspired and Stampin Inspirations, every Tuesday. On Monday's (a week later) I will do a random pick from all participants of both blog sites and will randomly choose a person to receive one of my "challenge" cards . . .sorta like a "RAK" for participating.

If your card is made with Stampin Up images, it will be posted on Stampin Inspirations. If you card is created with images or products such as scrapbook pieces and embellishments with no stamping by other companies besides Stampin Up, the card will be posted on Card Inspired.

Today's TIC is "5 Layer Minimum".
  • The card needs to be created with a minimum of 5 layersThe card base is not considered layer #1 unless it overlaps something such as a tri-fold or if cut to reveal the inner part of the card such as shown in Card #2 (scroll down for example).
  • The designer paper in Card #2 is layered over the inner part of the card base, therefore can be considered layer #1, the front card base is considered layer #2.
  • If creating a window type of card, the front card base can be considered layer #1 because it reveals the inner card base.
  • Any ribbon or embellishment that layers over or under one another is considered a layer.
  • With card #1, the designer paper is considered layer #1 because it lays over the card base (again, the card base is not considered a layer).
  • Card design is not limited to rubber stamping. You may use "paper piecing" techniques or scrapbooking embellishments such as die-cuts, stickers, etc., as long as each piece is layered over one another.

The first card above has 9 layers, starting with the designer paper and ending with the rhinestone embellishment. The ribbon is included as a layer. The second card has a total of 7 layers, starting with the designer paper which is attached to the inner card base and ends with rhinestone embellishments on the wheel of the baby carriage. The front card base and the ribbon are considered layers.

Okay. . .let's begin! All submissions must be submitted by Sunday 12:00 midnight PST. I really hope you will want to participate in my challenges. I will try to make it interesting and different so that it will be motivating.

We'll see how it goes. . .I am "positive" you will participate!!!!! P.S. if you have a blog address, I will link your submission with your blog address so people can visit your site! Most of all HAVE FUN! Scroll down for the 2nd card and the sketches!!

TIC Day #1 and Daily Special - Tag Time- Hanging Element

Todays Daily Special is "Tags". I mad a tag last night using the new SU set "Year After Year". The sentiment is not by SU. . .I was too lazy to look for a SU sentiment and this sentiment was in my desk drawer so I used it.

The tag was create by a Sizzix die. The image was colored with Prismacolor Pencils with Gamsol and outlined with markers. To add a little glitter, I applied clear Stickles. The edge was cut with Fiskar's "Cloud" scissors and silver Wire Works to hang up the sentiment.

Basically, the sentiment hangs suspended below the tag. This qualifies for the TIC's 5 Layers Minimum because the eyelet and wire counts as a layer because it overlaps one another.
Come on everyone send me a picture of your 5 Layers Minimum Card. . .I need more SU samples. I have a bunch of non-SU samples on Card Inspired but I want more for this blog site!

Hope y'all have a WONDERFUL DAY!!

Daily Special - Anything But Cards - the No Brainer Tag Pocket Tutorial

I haven't done a tutorial for a week now. . .sheesh, I've been slacking so I decided to create a really simple one just to get back into the groove. Tutorials take a lot of time to create and I've been a bit lazy lately but I think once I get my groove back, I will be more motivated to create more tutorials again.

Anyway, today's Daily Special is Anything but Cards and the tutorial is on a "No-Brainer Tag Pocket". Seriously. . .it's a real no-brainer. I love making things with very little steps.

This tag pocket fits a tag or card insert that's 3 1/3 x 4 3/4". It's just a great way to hold your tag and send it out like a card. It fits into a regular A2 envelope.

Try it out and tell me what you think. Don't forget to play along with my TIC (Tuesday's Inspirational Challenge). . .Click Here for the details.

I received a few more submissions which I'll be posting sometime today! See you later!!

P.S. the details for tag #1 is located posted on Card Inspired and the detail for the second card was posted yesterday on this blog site (scroll down).

TIC Day #1 - 5 Layers Minimum - More TIC Ideas

Just a few ideas for my TIC - Tuesday's Inspirational Challenge. You can create a tag instead of a card if you want. The tag above has 6 layers. The large flower was cut out from my Craft Robo, the tags cut from Sizzix Tag Dies, the BG paper is by Autumn Leaves, the buttons by Foo-la-la and the SU sets are "Small Sayings" and "Amazing to Zany". The color combo is Pink Passion, Cameo Coral, Brocade Blue, and Green Galore.

This card has 6 layers also. I decided to use the new SU set "Year After Year" for the background. Guess what I stamped it on . . .you'll never guess! Believe it or not but I stamped the image on toilet paper! Haha! Seriously!! I wanted to experiment on different papers besides cardstock and decided to see if it was possible to stamp on toilet paper. I colored the images with pastels and with a sponge dauber dabbed pastel around the flower to give it a little color. I tried using markers and it definitely don't work. It seeps on the toilet paper and it actually compromises the toilet paper's integrity.

The only problem I had was sticking the toilet paper on to the cardstock. I used sticky tape but because the paper is so fragile, whenever I tried to straighten the paper out, it would stretch which warped the shape a little. All in all, it actually looks pretty good. It has a soft appearance and the toilet paper I used was embossed with hearts so it added texture to the paper.

Anyway, scroll down for the details on my TIC! I'm excited to see your creation so please play, okay!!

Card details:

Stamp sets: New SU set "Year After Year" and New SU Hostess set "Word on Word"

Paper: Gable Green, Rose Red, Whisper White

Accessories: Making Memories Metal Plaque, American Craft Elements ribbon, and Making Memories flower ribbon
