Yellow Card

Hi Everyone! Well my title isn't very creative. . .but . . .it describes my card really well. It's quite yellow! LOL! I, typically don't like the color yellow on my cards. It's definitely not my favorite but I'm sort of getting tired of my pink, purple, green, or blue cards! Aren't you?

So. . .I decided to do something different and color my flower image yellow. It's actually a mix of yellow and orange. Okay. . there's a story about the designer paper. I've had the designer paper for almost 4 years. I had a stack of designer paper that I really thought were ugly. I felt it was an outdated design when bright happy and swirly, doodle type of designs were becoming popular but I noticed that elegant repeating designs are coming back. Yay! It's a good thing I kept the papers. LOL!

Hope y'all have a wonderful week!!

Off Centered Circle Sentiment Card

Happy Saturday, Everyone!! I made this card last night. I've been having insomnia ever since my kids went on summer break. I think it's because when they are in school, I can''t stay up late. I have to get up early and drive them to school.

I've been the sort of person that needs my day super filled up. I don't know why. . .I can't just not do "nothing". Well, now that they are on break, it's like every opportunity I have to stay up late, I've been doing it.

I hate going to sleep. I just feel that sleep cuts into my time to do something. Are you that way? Do you look forward to sleeping or are you the sort that feels that there's too much to do in life that sleep is preventing you from doing all the things you want to do?

Anyway. . .do you see the center of my flower? Do you like it? Well, I actually have the sentiment off centered and the button placed the way it's placed because I messed up punching the circle sentiment. For some reason it kept punching the sentiment off-centered. I did it twice and decided I'm not going to do it again so I placed it on the flower off centered and added the button to hide the fact that the sentiment is not quite centered within the circle.
Sometimes you just need to improvise! LOL!
Card Details:
Stamps: Inkadinkado
Paper: SU Sage Shadow, Not Quite Navy, K&Co Designer paper
Ink: SU Not Quite Navy, CTMH Breeze
Accessories: 1" and 1 3/8 circle punch, SU buttons, organdy ribbon

Cutie Girl Card

Just a cutie card that I made. I don't know who makes that little girl image because again, I used an unmounted stamp without a label. Argghh but isn't she cute or what! Again, I had colored this image a while ago and was in my file. I know I had colored the image using Copic Markers.

I didn't add a sketch for this card because my sketches are beginning to look the same. LOL! I've trying to not use designer paper on ALL my cards so this time I decided to stamp the background paper using Fiskar's "Baby" stamp set. The sentiment is by Stamp Effects "Baby Girl" stamp set. The brown cardstock is by SU. . .I think Really Rust. The ribbon is by Basic, Basic. The flower is by CTMH White Daisy Variety Pack.

Nothing much else to say about this card. Hope y'all have a wonderful day!

Hi Everyone! One more card for the day! I actually colored this image a while ago and decided to use it. I had stamped the flowers and leaves twice each then layered it over one another using foam tape to give it a 3D appearance. I then added Stickles to add a little bling. I colored the image on watercolor paper using SU Markers and a aquabrush.

Nothing much else to the card. I haven't used that round tab punch by SU for such a long time. It's a fun punch . . .it's a great way to add a small sentiment to your card.

Anyway, back to making another card. It's been a long a long time since I've been able to relax and make a card without feeling rushed.
Hope y'all have a nice evening!!

I Messed Up My Card Again

Good Morning Everyone! Ooops, I did it again! Yup! I messed up my card, AGAIN. What did you do, Maria? What now? Well, I had inked a flower stamp with the intention of stamping the flower image on the background of my card and in the process I was interrupted. I placed the inked stamp face up and was shuffling stuff on my craft table. My already colored image (the girl) fell right on top of my inked stamp. I picked it up and it was all inked up with the flower image. ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!! Double ARGGGGHHHH!

I think it would have been okay if only her dress was inked but her face was inked up with the flower image too! The arms and the dress were also inked up but that was easy to color over. To salvage the image, I colored over the face with a Copic Blender pen . . .that didn't work. I then colored over it with a flesh tone Copic marker. That didn't work. The flower image still showed on her face. . .I kept coloring her face with the Copic marker in hopes that it'll eventually remove or obscure the flower image on her face.

I finally got most of the ink off her face but it resulted with her face sort of discolored and darker than I actually wanted it to be. I need to fix it a little more because the upper half of her face is darker than the bottom half. Luckily, the flower image no longer show on her face.

Why, why do these things happen? Overall, it turned out okay in the end but at one point, I thought of throwing the girl image out and start all over again. But, like most things in life. . .it can be fixed if you don't give up.

Card Detail:

Stamp: CTMH, Inkadinkado,
Paper: SU Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, DCWV glitter stack
Ink: Copic Markers, Tsuneko Dew Drops, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Pebbles Inc. ribbon, 1 1/4 x 1 3/8" ribbon

My Computer is Held Hostage!

Hi Everyone! I actually have a card to post but my computer is being held hostage right now. My husband decided to add more memory to my computer and is in the process of transferring my old files to another hard drive. . . the problem, I can't do anything demanding with my computer until it completely transfers all my files. I can't download my photos from my camera, I can't upload photos to my blog, I can't do anything but minimal stuff like "type" on my blog. I can't even open any programs without slowing my computer further! Very annoying. My computer has been transferring files for over 10 hours and it looks like there's no end in sight!

I'll post my card as soon as my computer is free from its bondage!

Double Pocket Card with Tag Tutorial

Hi Everyone! Is today Wednesday? I don't even know what day it is. Lately, I've been trying to find ways to use my scrap designer papers and I came up with this project using my smaller pieces of designer paper. This is a double pocket card. . .a very easy no-nonsense way to create one and a great way to use up your scrap designer papers.

There's no fancy folds or anything like that with this card. Just cutting a slit to create a pocket. LOL! I'm sure someone already thought of making the pockets like I have. I posted another sample on Card Inspired if you care to check it out.

Here are the tags removed from the pockets. Just to let you know . . .the orientation of the pockets of this card is different from the tutorial. The diagonal pockets are flipped on this card but it's the same in it's design.

Hope y'all have a wonderful day!!

Card Details:

Stamps: Inkadinkado
Paper: DCWV Nursery Stack, SU Pretty in Pink, Rose Romance
Ink: Rose Romance
Accessories: CTMH Just Blooms, Joann heart brad, grosgrain ribbon, Stickles, pink thread

Intermission. . .

Hi Everyone! I'm in the middle of cleaning my craft room so in the mean time, you can check out a video of my favorite band! If you've been reading my blog for a while now. . .you know who it is!! Anyway, it's an older video when their album first came out and to some degree, I prefer the band the way they were back then. I know this is silly but I could watch 30 STM over and over and never get tired of them. Jared is such a babe! LOL!!

I love this video because it's totally acoustic! Jared has such a beautiful voice! I saw 30 Seconds to Mars about a year ago and they are awesome live. I'll post a card later this evening if I have the time to create one! Have a wonderful Sunday!

Coloring With Prismacolor Pencils

Hi Everyone! I know how popular Copics are but I still love coloring with my Prismacolor pencils with Gamsol.. I think the colors are vibrant and very pretty. I love to color with different mediums. The results are a little different with each medium but in the end, coloring is coloring.

Anyway, today's post will be brief because it's already 1:18 in the morning. I decided to stay up and make this card and post it in the case I won't have time to do it tomorrow!

Here is the card close up. As you can see I added rhinestones to the flowers. I think little touches of bling really makes the image more interesting. Don't you think?

Anyway, hope y'all have a wonderful day!

Thank You Card

Hi Everyone! You're like "wow, that's a very colorful card"! LOL! I love colorful cards. Yeah, another card with a lot of things going on but it sure was fun making this card. I colored the image and the background with my Copic markers. After coloring the background with the markers, I then stamped the flower images and using a darker colored Copic Marker, I colored the flowers. To add the highlights, I used my white opaque gel pen by Sakura.

It's funny but I really don't have anything to say today. LOL! I'll post the card detail later. I need to go downstairs to the family room to get the stamp and well, I'm not in the mood to go downstairs right now.
Anyway, hope y'all had a wonderful day!

Happy Father's Day Everyone!

Happy Father's Day!! I know this isn't a Father's Day card but I actually thought of giving this card to my husband but I had already bought a "store" made card. I know, I'm terrible. Here I am a card maker and I bought my husband a card. When it comes to giving my husband a handmade card . . . .well, I think he sometimes think that I give him a "stock" card, you know what I mean.

Anyway. . .this card was inspired by my "photo paper". When I print photos, I sometimes end up with scrap photo paper and I can't run it through my printer because the pieces are too small. I decided to use my scrap photo paper to stamp my image on rather than a card stock. It's like stamping on glossy cardstock.

In the process of stamping the image, well. . .I smeared a little ink on the side of the image. Arggghh! So. . .I took a baby wipe that I used to clean my stamps and began dabbing the ink that were on the baby wipe all over the white area of the photo paper, hence the blue marble look around the image. I was happy that I was able to salvage the image. I hate wasting materials.

I outlined the image using a glitter gel pen then applied rhinestone. I kept the card simple because I really wanted the flourish image to stand out. It's such a pretty image.

Well, we're heading out to dinner tonight at one of the wineries in our town to celebrate Father's Day. My kids are hanging out right now with their dad playing video games. LOL!! We're going to hang out in family room in a few minutes to watch a movie. We love hanging out watching movies as a family. It'll be a nice quiet Father's Day for my husband.

Card Details:

Stamps: Inkadinkado
Paper: Glossy Photo Paper, SU Bashful Blue, Blue Bayou
Ink: SU Blue Bayou, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Darice rhinestones, Sakura glitter gel pen, Organdy ribbon

Busy Week and A Card. . .Yay!

Hey Everyone! Happy Saturday to y'all! Wow, I'm back from my busy, busy, crazy week! LOL!

Well, I spent the whole week cleaning out my garage and you know, I was delusional thinking that I could clean out my garage in a week. Yeah, right! I haven't even touched the surface of what I need to do to get my garage cleaned out! I think a month will be a more realistic timeline to get it where I want to. I busted my buns all week and the garage still looks like a mess. Whaaa!!!

I decided I needed a break from cleaning out my garage and worked on this card this afternoon!

You're saying. . .wow, there's a lot of stuff going on with your card, Maria! LOL! Yeah, I know! I kept going and going and going but that's okay. . .I had fun making this card. I haven't created a single thing for the whole week and it was just so darn nice to be able to finally sit down and make a card.

I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils with gamsol and I used my Copic Markers to color the background. I, basically, layered the images using various stamps. The designer paper is by K&CO and the cardstock I used are SU Certainly Celery and River Rock.

This week has been crazy busy because my son graduated from high school yesterday! Yipee!! It was a flurry of activities for him. In between cleaning out my garage, I had to drive him back and forth to school for various Senior events and graduation activities!

Check out his pretty lei. My family sent a bunch of leis from Hawaii! It arrived just in time for the graduation ceremony yesterday evening!! I was so touched that they remembered to send him a lei. . .it was their way of congratulating him and bringing a bit of "Aloha" to my son's special moment!

I took this photo in front of our house! I wanted to take a few pictures of him with his lei on before we headed off to the ceremony. I knew that after the ceremony he would probably look sweaty and stuff.

Here is a picture of the graduation ceremony. It was held on the football field at the high school.
My son was like the 30th student to walk up to get his diploma and for the rest of the ceremony we had to sit through 700 more students.
Okay. . .it was a long, long ceremony.

This was taken after the ceremony. I took so many pictures of him and his friends! I wanted to take as many as possible because I know he probably won't see many of his classmates again. Everyone will be going off to college and they may never cross paths again which is very sad in a way.

Of all the photos taken with his friends, I sort of liked this one the best. It's a picute of friends hugging and congratulating my son. It just captures the moment in a way that really shows my son's true emotion.

This is another awesome shot! It's just so real and it captures exactly what I think my son was feeling. . .HAPPY!
Congratulations, Anton! You made it!

Blog Break - I'll be back at the end of the week!!

Hi Everyone! I need to take a break. I'm in the middle of a big mess in my garage! I decided to start up the clean up process on Saturday and well, it's like a tornado went through my garage and threw everything all over the place. I guess before it can get clean, it needs to get ugly first and I mean, ugly. I've opened up every container and spread everthing all over the place. Wow! It's scary.

Yesterday I worked on the Christmas stuff and so far I've counted 12 containers, 4 of which are the huge containers. When we moved from Hawaii to California, we sold at least half of our Christmas stuff. . . so why do we still have so many Christmas stuff? It's NUTS!

Anyway, I can't stand the garage looking the way it is. . .the faster I clean it up, the better I'll feel. I need to take a break this week to concentrate on the garage. Besides, my body ache so bad right now. . .I am in no mood to craft! I've used muscles I haven't used in years. I guess that's the price I have to pay for accumulating so much junk!

When I'm completely done, I'll take a picture of the garage. Maybe if I'll even take a "before" picture. . . .we'll see.

Hope y'all have a wonderful week!!

Random card

Good day, Everyone! Just a card I made yesterday. I don't know if you "read" my blog but the other day I had mentioned the fact that I almost messed up my card because I had applied Stickles to my image and I stood it up and it fell forward while the stickles was still wet.

Well, guess what happened to this card. . .well, while the Stickles was still wet, I picked up my card but guess where? Well . . .I had placed my finger right smack on top of the wet Stickles and smeared the Stickles all over. Luckily, it was still very wet and I was able to clean up my mess.

Can you believe it? What is it with me and Stickles. . .I seem to be determined to mess up my card.

Well, hope y'all have a wonderful Friday!!

Happy Day To You All

Hi Everyone! Just a card I made today. I had colored this image months ago but never used it. I actually have a stack of colored image in a container and when I'm in the mood to use one of them, I just go through the images and make a card.

I cannot tell you what stamp company this image is made by. I'm thinking maybe Stampabilities or Penny Black. I had unmounted the image from the wood and did not label it so I have no idea who made it. A good tip for those who unmount their stamps. . .label them. LOL!

I had colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils with Gamsol. I added little rhinestones to the flowers. Nothing much else to the card. The sentiment stamp is by Heidi Grace and the designer paper is by Autumn Leaves.

Anyway, as the card says. . ."Happy Day" to all of you!! Hope you all are having a great day!!

Birthday Card! Promotion. . .Read On. . .

Hi Everyone. . .I made this card for my private blog site a few weeks ago. I created the card using CTMH Whoops-A-Daisy paper kit and "Just Blooms" flowers. The buttons are also CTMH craft buttons. It was a really fun card to create. I have a lot of buttons so it was a great way to use them.

Close to My Heart has an awesome promotion going on this month but I can't tell you about it on my blog so. . . if you're curious or interested, email me and I'll tell you all about it! Trust me, it's an awesome promotion!

Here is the sketch for the card if you want to try it out.
Scroll down for a card I made today!

Another card for today! Yay!! That's pretty good for me these days. . .considering typically I have time for only one card.

I used "Inkadinkado Cupcakes" stamp set and Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background. The DP is by Autumn Leaves. I colored the image using markers on watercolor paper and added a little glitter to it. The brads are by Making Memories.

Don't forget to check out my previous post. . .I posted the other card I made today!
