OCC Challenge - Use A Tag

Hi Friends!! It's been a while since the last time I participated in the OCC Challenges. This week's challenge is to "Use a Tag" and I thought "hey, just my speed. . .I create tags for my cards all the time". . .LOL! Technically, for me that wouldn't be a challenge, I guess but I decided to play anyway! LOL!!

Do you see the image? I don't know if any of you are familiar with "DJ Inkers" but they've been around for a very long time and I've had their CD images for 10 years or so. I know a lot of elementary teachers use their images. Anyway. . .the image on my card is a digital image.

From to time, I used the digital images on my cards but I always felt a little uncomfortable about it. . .like I was "cheating" as a stamper. LOL! Like I was violating a stamping code of honor! Too funny!

Well, now that many companies out there now sells digital image, well it opened the door for me to use my DJ Inker images. Oh my gosh, I have like 5 different CDs with hundreds of cute images and sentiments. I've had these CDs for years and rarely used them for my cards but oh my. . .don't be surprised to see more. I actually bought them to create coloring books for my daughter when she was little.

I cannot believe years later that they will be useful for other things like card making! Whoohoo! The images are so darn cute!!! DJ Inkers also have awesome fonts!! I have like 2 CDs of fonts on top of the 5 CDs of images!

Anyway. . .just a little info on my card. Again, I colored my image with my Copic Markers and added a bit of SU Crystal Effects and Stickles to the image. That's basically it.

I decided to dress up the inside just a little. Not too much. . .just a matching strip of designer paper and a sentiment.

Anyway, hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!!

Hugs & Kisses Card

Hi Friends! Well I'm sad to say my cold did not go away. I'm a little annoyed by it because my nose is now running like it's on a marathon. Argggh. For the first 3 days, I had a major stuffiness but no runny nose. . .just feeling yucky and a sinus headache. Well I woke up this morning with the runny nose.

I actually made this card about two weeks ago but didn't post it. I had it as a draft on my blog but forgot it was there. This card is a hodge-podge of pieces of scraps that I initially created for other cards but for one reason or another decided not to use them.

Anyway. . .do you see the yellow oval shape? Well, I think I messed up on my coloring. . .it looked splotchy so I decided to heat emboss it with clear embossing powder to camouflage it. LOL! Th heart shape in the back was intended for another card but it didn't fit well so I set it aside and decided to use it on this card instead. Actually there's a lot of fixes on this card but with a little tweaking. . .it's salvageable. Even when I mess up on something, I rarely disgard it. There's always a way to fix it.

I colored the image with my Copic Markers and added a little bit of glitter.

I really can't tell you the recipe of this card because it's scrap pieces, I can't quite remember who made the products.

Anyway. . .I'd love to chit-chat more but my runny nose is annoying me right now.

Hope y'all have a fabulous day!!

Word Game at Pieces of Me

Hey Friends! Jen is celebrating her birthday at Pieces of Me and she is giving out prizes. This hour we're playing a word game and I'm having a blast. Come on over and let's play the word game. .we have about 2o minutes to go. It's cracking me up with all the words coming up!

Happy Birthday to Jen!!

Hi Friends!! This is an old card I made but I'm reposting it for Jen of Pieces of Me's Birthday!! She is having a virtual birthday party celebration on her blog and if you're not there yet, you are SERIOUSLY missing out on all the prizes she is giving out. I'm serious. . .stamps, embellishments, etc. Every hour she gives out a prize so you better be there or be square!! Actually, it would be best that you don't know about it so I have more chances to win but I'll be nice and share this great piece of news with you. Everyone say "Thank you, Maria". LOL!!

Happy Birthday, Jen!! Hope you like your virtual birthday card! LOL!!

Don't forget to scroll down for the other card I made today and Crayon Box. Template is provided.

Crayon Box Template and Scrappy Card

Hey Friends! Just a change of pace with this project. This is my weekly requirement for myself. . .basically, I need to make at least one "scrappy card" a week. . .meaning no rubber stamping, just scrapbook embellishments. Because I stopped posting on my Card Inspired blog site - where I typically posted all my scrappy cards - well, if I don't make a goal of making a scrappy card, I probably won't. That is the reason why I kept my Card Inspired blog site for so long. I needed the blog to help remind me to make scrappy cards and scrappy projects.

After going through Mel's of Mel Stampz blog site looking for templates, I found this link to Lindsay's blog "the Frugal Crafter" and decided to create this "Crayon Box Template". After I made it, well, I realized the flap suppose to be facing the back like the way Lindsay has it on her blog. Oh well! LOL!

Okay. . .creating this was a little annoying. Do you see the heart shape window on my Crayon Box? Well, I cut the window centered on the striped design of the DP. . .perfect. But when I created the card, well the heart was lower than the center of my card. .I was like "nooooooooooooo!!". It looked strange because there was a huge empty space at the top of the card. Darn it!

Luckily, after a bit of thought, I was able to create a layout that made it appear like the heart was in the center of the card. It took a lot of thinking . . .which by the way when making cards I don't like to do much of. In the end it worked out so I'm happy.

Do you like making scrappy cards? I'm going to be honest with you. . .I love making them but the cost of the card goes up because of the costly embellishments. Not that I'm cheap but a handmade card shouldn't be more expensive to make than a store bought greeting card. . .KWIM? There should be a cost benefit to making these cards. . .LOL!!

Anyway, not much to the card. . .just a bunch of primas, a heart shape cut with my Coluzzle Heart Template, Making Memories metal word embellishment and heart brads, some designer paper and ribbon and cutting with my Fiskar scallop scissors. You just sort of arrange them in a cohesive way. . . that's it.

Anyway. . .try out the template. . .it fits a standard card. If your card isn't bulky, you could fit 2 or 3 cards in the box.

Hope y'all have a fabulous day.

Project & Card Details:

Papers: SU Parisian Summer, Bravo Burgundy, Pink PirouetteAccessories: SU 5/8" Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon, Prima flowers, Making Memories Metal word embellishment, Making Memories Heart brads, Fiskar mini scallop scissors, Coluzzle Heart template

Pink Cat Studio Challenge on Paper Craft Planet - One Layer Card

Hey Friends!! I have a cold and looks like Pink Cat Studio Lily is sick too . . .she has measles with all the spots on her face! LOL! I created this one layer card for the Pink Cat Studio Challenge at Paper Craft Planet hosted by Vicki of Summerthyme Studio.

I have a cold and my head is sorta stuffy so I came up with this bright idea to stamp my image on a designer paper and color it with my Copic Markers. Because Copics tend to bleed through the paper, I had to line the inside of the card.

Anyway. . .I tried my best to cover the designer paper with my coloring but it didn't really quite work; hence, all the dots on Lily's face. I also messed up on my tree during the drawing process but I was in no mood to start over so I just went with it and worked with what I already drew. Don't you just hate that!

I added a few critters to dress up the card a bit. I wanted a scenic look to my card.

Here are the details of the challenge:

Date the challenge ends: Wednesday March 11th, 5 pm EST

Requirements: A Pink Cat Studio stamp must be used as the main stamp on the card or project. It is okay to use stamps from other companies as well.

To be eligible for the prize you must upload your card before the deadline to your PaperCraftPlanet gallery and include the tag PCSDTC2. You may enter only 1 project for this challenge.

If you have questions about this challenge, please post them in this discussion thread.

Prize: On March 11th, a winner will be chosen by a random draw from all of the challenge participants. The winner will receive a grab bag of Pink Cat Studio stamps. The winner will be announced in the PCP challenge discussion thread and on the Pink Cat Studio blog. Some cards from the challenge will be displayed on the PCS blog.

Don't forget to scroll down to check out the other card I made today. My very first card using my brand spanking new Anya digital stamp image! Whoohoo! It's colorful so be prepared to put your sunglasses on! LOL!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Stamps: Pink Cat Studio Enchanted Lily, Inkadinkado
Paper: SU Parisian Summer
Accessories: Stickles Glitter

My First Anya Card

Hi Friends! Check out my very first Anya card. Anya is actually a digital stamp that I bought at the Greeting Farm. Whoohoo! I really didn't know about the Anya images until about a month ago. I just started seeing people making cards with them. I'm the sort of shopper that don't jump on the band wagon immediately. . .sometimes I'm so behind on the trend that I'll buy something when it's no longer popular. LOL! I only become an impulse shopper once I've tried something out and like it then I'll buy like a mad woman! LOL!

Anyway. . .I love this Anya image. . .oh, gosh it's so darn cute and so fun to color. . .especially her hair! LOL!

I colored my image using my Copic Markers using various colors. I think her hair is like 4 different shades from browns and yellows. I think there's even orange in there. No kidding.

I know this is a colorful card. . .Anya seem to shout out "make me colorful"! LOL! Yes, my images speak to me. . .just kidding.

Actually, I had a bunch of scrap pieces of designer paper and I wanted to use them up. I have a lot of these scrap papers. . .it's not even funny any more. I need to start finding ways to use them so don't be surprised to see more cards with a hodge-podge look to them.

Not to change the subject but I feel crappy today. I didn't craft all day yesterday and didn't blurf either. I have a cold. . .it started the other day. Strangely, it started with my right ear. . .my ear was so itchy. . not the outside, but the inside. Imagine not being able to scratch an itch. . .well, it was driving me crazy.

Throughout the course of the day, I could feel the itch and inflammation literally inching its way to my throat, my sinus cavity, across the back of my throat, to my lungs. Today, it finally worked its way to my left ear.

Well, I woke up with a full blown cold and now feel crappy. After posting this card, I think I'm going to lounge around and watch TV. I've been taking Zicam . . .it usually works so we'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Card Details:

Comment Box Problems

I noticed a lot of people using those new comment boxes for certain blog templates. It's cool but I have been having major problems with them when there's a verification required. The verification code don't load and I've kept a comment open for a whole day and it never loads so I end up leaving not being able to comment. I've tried to comment numerous sites with that comment box with no success. Some days it'll work, some days. . nada!

Just wondering if any one else is having the same problem commenting on blogs with that comment box. . .if you have those comment box with verifications and wonder why you don't have a lot of comments, that could be the reason! LOL!

Hi Everyone! Whoohoo! It's Little C's Weekly Challenge again! This time it's a color combo put together by the talented Ms. Rina of Heartful Stamping

Wow, this was a challenging challenge but I loved it because well, I've never made a card with this color combo.

I colored my image using my Copic Markers. I sort of colored her cheeks a bit too dark but when it's cold, your cheeks tend to turn really rosey so I think it's okay. . .it's still winter right? Yes, Maria. . .it's still winter. Okay, thank you!

Thank you for all the well wishes in regards to my injured wrist. Gosh, it feels so much better today. I had slipped and landed on my hand to brace myself. Initially, it hurt but I didn't think nothing of it but an hour or so later, I began to have shooting pain whenever I moved my hand.

It began to swell a bit and began affecting the movement of my fingers so I put my wrist in a splint to restrict the movement and reduce the pain.

Towards the evening, I think the splint was making things worse. . my hand began to throb but when I removed the splint, the throbbing stopped. This morning when I woke up, the swelling was reduced and movement of my hand is not as painful. Yay!! I'm able to move my fingers and typing isn't too painful. . . .just forward and backward movements hurt but I can live with that. Again, thank you . . .you all are so sweet and wonderful.

Anyway, just a little bit about my card. This stamp set is an old Stampin' Up stamp set. I thought it was a fun image to play with considering I haven't used it for over a year.

I stamped the image twice and remounted the image with foam tape. I also added a bit of SU Crystal Effects and Stickles to the image.

Anyway, hope you'll play along in this week's challenge!!

Card Details:

Stamp: Stampin Up
Paper: DCWV designer paper, SU Bliss Blue, Lavendar Lace (I think)
Ink: Copic Markers
Accessories: SU Crystal Effects, Stickles, Basic Basic Ribbon, Buttons (?)

I Hurt My Wrist

Hi Friends! I hurt my wrist this morning and it's in a splint. If I don't comment your blog, it's because it's taking me forever to type because I can only type with one hand. Arggh! It's taking me longer to type so I just want you to know I'm not ignoring you! LOL!

Hope my wrist heals soon. It's hard to craft and blog with one hand!

Thank you for commenting my blog. . .I really appreciate the beautiful comments. . .you are all so kind!!

Hope y'all have a beautiful weekend and your week will be fabulous!!

Pink Cat Studio Sneak Peek Day #2 and 5 x 7 1/2" Box Tutorial

Hi Friends!! It's sneak peek day #2 of the Pink Cat Studio release of "Enchanted Lily" on February 23rd. I'm featuring two of the images and sentiments of this stamp set this time around. I also posted the tutorial of this simple "5 x 7 1/2" Box". Whoohoo! Actually, it was another tutorial that I created for my Stampin Up club a month ago but I'm posting it on this blog site so you can create this box too!

I actually created the instructions of this box using a Nestle Cocoa Mix box as the template. LOL!

Actually, used boxes are great templates for box creations so don't throw away your boxes. Just open them up and create a template for future creations.

I colored Lily with my Copic Markers and I added a bit of Stickles to the lily pad. Check the googly eyes of the frog. . .LOL!! It makes him look so cute.

Don't forget to scroll down for my second creation using Lily sitting on a mushroom image as well as the tutorial for this box!!

With this box, I altered a shortbread cookie box. . .similar to my Kiki altered box a few days ago. Again, I colored the image using my Copic Markers. I sort of messed up Lily's head because the outline smeared a little so I stamped another image and cut her head out and remounted it on the original image. I didn't want to start over because the rest of the image was fine.Anyway, be sure to stop by Pink Cat Studio and check out their current stamps available and return on February 23rd for the release of "Enchanted Lily".
