Shabby Chic Door Hanger

Hello Friends! I decided to work on something different yesterday. A while ago, I had created a wine bottle tag template but I found that if you enlarge the tag on your Sure Cuts a Lot program or other cutting program, you can actually use it as a hanging door sign. If you want the template: CLICK HERE

There was a time when I loved making different SVG files or templates but like everything I do, it became time consuming and rather than creating anything myself, I was working on tutorials and templates. It's fun making them but I need to concentrate on crafting things. When I have the free time, I'll work on tutorials and templates and share them when I have a chance, okay.

Do you have a lot of scrap materials from other projects. . .I have a ton of them. They tend to pile up after a while so I decided to use some of the scrap materials I have and decorate my door hanger with them.

I used my Unity Stamps for the sentiment. I think the sentiment is fitting for a door hanger. I'm going to hang this project on my door so every time I walk in my craft room, I'll have a little reminder. I think I'm going to make a door hanger for my daughter but something more fitting for a college student. She doesn't like pink and cute so I need to design it more edgier . . a little bit more rock and roll. That's more my daughter's style.

To create the shabby chic distressed look. . .I crinkled and mod podged tissue paper on to my door hanger. ..I did not add Mod Podge to the top of the tissue paper, just under to have it stick on to the hanger. I then applied acrylic paint in white and pink. The tissue paper will somewhat rub off a little as you apply the paint but that's a good thing. . .that is what creates the distressed texture. Maybe if I have the time this week, I'll create a tutorial on how to do this. . .:)

To create the skirt, I used a small piece of tulle and lace and gathered them using a sewing machine. . .similar to creating ruffles. It's very simple...if you don't have a sewing machine you could hand stitch it and create the ruffle that way.

The rest of my design is just adding embellishments to the hanger. I think I'll do something different at least once a week. . .I have a tendency to make cards all the time because they're easy for me to create but it'll be fun to do something different weekly just to change things up a bit!

Anyway, that's it for today! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Shabby Chic Altered Bottle

Hello Friends!! I actually altered this bottle a few months ago but I've never posted it. It has been sitting on my desk and I've been meaning to take photos but keep forgetting to do so. I decided to use it to store vintage buttons that I use for my cards and projects.

I wrapped lace trimming around the bottle and I also wrapped a strip of fabric that I stamped images on to then tied it to the bottle to create a bow.

I created a beaded pin and stuck it on to the bow and also stamped a clothes pin and clipped it on to the bow next to the pin

I added pearls to the prima flowers and stuck it on to the lace.

I had sewn this fabric flower a while back and decided to use it for my altered bottle.

Lastly, I covered the cap with a crochet flower that I made, added a prima flower to it and a decorative gem to top it off. I also added the blue beads around the cap.

That's about it! It's really fun to alter bottles. . .I like the shabby chic look and this was a fun way to use up some of my materials that I had lying around in my craft room! It's also a great way to store buttons!

That's it for today. Hope you're having a wonderful Friday evening!

Crochet Flowers

Hi Friends!!! I've been a busy girl this weekend! I've been wanting to create different colors of crochet flowers so I decided to actually work on them. I listed them in my Etsy Shop: Inspired & Unscripted.

Crocheting is really fun. I like to crochet especially if I'm waiting somewhere, such as at the doctor's office or while I'm watching television. LOL! There's something very therapeutic about it. . .and it keeps me from falling asleep or becoming bored.

I hand dyed the crochet flowers in a variety of colors. Right now I listed Fuchsia, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, white, antique white, vanilla, marigold yellow, royal blue, light blue, lavender lace, and mixed turquoise colors. I plan to add more colors soon. The close up of this bunch is in marigold yellow. I have a lighter yellow too but I haven't had a chance to take photos of them.

This bunch is in Fuchsia.

This bunch is in antique white.

I'm planning to work on different designs and larger ones too, including motifs and mini doilies. These crochet flowers measures 1.5 x 1.5". All of them are made with crochet threads. . .not yarn so they lay nicely flat on cards and scrapbook projects. I've been using them a lot on my card making projects. .. I usually layer them with prima and satin flowers or add buttons or pearls to the center. It's fun adding other embellishments to them because it changes the look of each flower to something unique.

Anyway. . that's it for today. I need to work on a few projects today. Stop by my Etsy Shop: Inspired & Unscripted if you're interested in crochet flowers. I have a bunch listed right now.

Hope you all have a beautiful Monday!

Crafty Busy Day. . .Stuff I Worked on Yesterday

Hello Friends! Happy Sunday!!! I was a busy gal yesterday! I worked on a few embellishments and earrings! I had a blast just creating away! I love it when it feels natural to just create rather than feeling pressured to create something. I like creating when it feels fun.

I have a lot of craft stuff to talk about so I'll just get down to business. I created two sets of bow embellishments for paper crafting! One in blue and one in pink. I like creating them in advance so I can just pull them out when I need them rather than creating them at the moment I'm working on a project.

I have pre-colored images, pre-made bows, pre-made flowers, pre-made beaded pins. . ..ready to be used so when I create a card or project, finishing them off goes by pretty quick. It works out really well when you need to whip up a card last minute. . .like design team stuff! LOL!

I pre-dyed the seam bindings. I don't like to dye them too dark because then they start to look like regular ribbons which I already have a ton of. I want them to look like dyed seam bindings not ribbons. I have a ton of miscellaneous beads so I worked on a bunch of beaded pins and stuck them on to the bow then added the various flowers with embellishments.

These are actually Yo-Yo flowers but rather than adding a button to the center, I added the seam binding bows just so they look a little different. They're fun embellishments to design head bands and hair accessories or even to add to sewn items such as bags, pillows, and even clothing.

I worked on a few earrings too. This one is a simple one. .. I used heart agate beads and decorative bead caps for this pair of earrings! I'm in love with bead caps right now. . .they make beads look so pretty.

This one. . .I wrapped a wire around the foil glass bead and added the lucite flower and bead just to make it a little artsy looking. It sort of has a funky look. I wrapped the silver wire sort of freestyle without any real design concept in mind. To soften the look a little, I added the pink opal beads with the bead caps.

Anyway, I listed all of these items in my Etsy Shop: Inspired & Unscripted. I think I'm going to work on "finished" projects for my shop. I've been primarily working on embellishments but a little change is good. I'll continue to make crochet flowers, fabric flowers, and other embellishments but I'll add finished projects as well just to give my shop mix of different things.

That's it for today!! Hope you all are having a wonderful July 4th weekend!

Elegant Dangling Earrings, Crochet Flowers & Yo Yo Flowers

Hi Friends! Happy Friday! Just a quick post today on a few projects I worked on the last few days! I listed all of these items in my Etsy shop: Inspired & Unscripted. The first project is a pair of dangling earrings that I worked on. I decided to create sort of an "icy" design to the earring with a bit of a vintage and shabby chic style.

I love the filigree bead caps! They're so pretty! The earrings are made up of pearls, silver findings, filigree bead caps, blue glass beads, and frosty lucite flowers. I think this is something you can wear to dinner and would look perfect with a white or silver dress.

I worked on a few mixed colors of this daisy loom knit flowers. It's double layered and I used worsted acrylic yarn rather than crochet thread this time around. They can be used for headbands, hair accessories, brooches, or even cards, scrapbook and altered projects because they are fairly flat. They're not bulky so they can be used as card and scrapbook embellishments.

I used a loom knitting daisy flower tool to create the flowers and honestly, it takes more time to make these flowers than regular crochet flowers but I really liked the look of the petals so I decided to work on them anyway.

Here's a set of yo-yo flower that I had hand sewn. I made a few different ones in different colors. I plan make more of them. I like coming up with different types using different buttons! It's really fun!

Anyway. . .I hope all are having a fabulous Friday. . .July 4th weekend is coming up for us in the US! I can't wait to see the fireworks. . .:) That's it for today! Have a great day, Friends!

Altered Vintage Inspired Bottle and Card Gift Set

Hello Friends!! Happy Sunday! I decided to work on altering a bottle and creating a matching card. I've been admiring the altered bottles I've seen in blog land and I decided to work on one my self. There are various styles and approaches to altering a bottle but I wanted to create mine in a vintage shabby chic style.

The bottle makes for a great home decor item that can be placed on a night stand or to decorate an end table. It can also be used as a container to hold embellishments, buttons, lace, prima flowers, beads, etc.

First of all I worked on a card to match the bottle using the same embellishments so they coordinate with one another. I used a vintage image that I found at Vintage Holiday Crafts. I cut a strip of fabric and stamped flowers and sentiments using my Unity Stamps. I used Tim Holtz distress ink as well as SU Buckaroo Blue to ink up the stamps. I then created a bow with lace and attached a tag to it.

I sewn together a fabric flower and added a pearl to the center and adhered it to the bow. Finally, I added a lucite flower bead with a pearl bead to the center and a rose button to embellish the card.

I basically created the same design to the bottle as my card using the exact same embellishments. The only thing that I didn't add to the card that is on the bottle is the stamped clothes pin. . .again using the same sentiment stamp that I used to decorate the fabric strip. I tied the fabric around the bottle and tied a bow with the lace and added the flower and tag like I did with the card.

I love stamping on clothes pins. . .they are such a fun way to decorate a plain ole' clothes pin! You can't really see it too well in the photo but I also added the lucite flower and rose button to the side of the clothes pin.

I added the same bird image to the bottle by just inserting it into the bottle. I didn't glue it into the bottle, it's just there. It's an easy way to decorate the inside of the bottle.

To decorate the bottle cap all I did was decoupage a circle designer paper and added the rose button to the center. I also added lace and beads around the side of the bottle cap.

I have plans to alter more bottles! It's really fun. I have a lot of fun ideas on how to decorate the bottles. I can't wait to alter another one! It's a great way to salvage a bottle . . .rather than throwing it away, it's an eco-friendly way to refurbish it and create something pretty out of it! Try it out. . it's really fun!

Anyway, that's it for today. I'm hoping I can work on another one this week!!

Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday!!!
