Scrappy Card - Negative Punched Card

Hi Everyone! Just a card I made using the "negative" side of a punched designer paper. I had punched a few hearts using a Sizzix die and rather than throwing away the designer paper when I was done. I decided to use it on my card by matting it over a cardstock.

I was looking at pictures of cards I made a year ago and I have to be honest with you. . .I haven't improved with my card making from a year ago. I actually feel like I've digressed. It seems that I've been making cards more for the purpose of using up my stuff. In the past I was more focused on technique and learning new things. . .lately, I've been just slapping cards together as quickly as I can because I need to use my scraps.

I don't put as much effort into making my cards. I'm less motivated to do so for some reason. Could it be that I'm burning out? I sometimes feel that way. I know it's temporary and I go through phases when I'm not inspired to do my best. Anyway, card making shouldn't be a performance kind of thing. It should be just a random enjoyable process.

I think the lack of free time is what is causing me this lack of enthusiasm for card making. . .you know. Do you sometimes go through this "blah" state? I know I'm not the only one because I read it on a lot of blogs. . .how they lost their mojo and such. Well, I'm sort of in that state right now. I'm hoping when the kids' school ends for the summer, I'll find time to actually enjoy making cards rather than "just" making cards for the sake of making them.

Hope y'all have a wonderful Wednesday!

I think your cards are always stunning! Where do you go from up? But I totally hear you about the mojo. It's so easy to fizzle out for a while & as bloggers we know people count on reading sumthin'! (Especially with you, since you're a fabulous fixture in the blog world.) I think the 'Oh no where'd my mojo go?' comes from not being able to spend enough moulah on supplies--for me anyway. Let's tell our DH's about the urgency of this no mojo syndrome! lol. ;0)

Hi Maria,
I totally hear you on the mojo thing. I think we all get it at one time or another. I agree with Mel, one of the causes could be from not buying new things. When we buy new stuff we're so pumped up to "try it" that it just comes so naturally. Maybe you should take yourself out for a treat to your local scrapbook store & get some goodies. hehe (talk about enabling, huh) also I find, sometimes when you're in this slump, takng a little break, a mini vacation from it...is sometimes all you need. Your work is always beautiful, infact this card you made is so pretty. Using the negative side is something I very rarely do. thanks for the idea! Keep smilin'!!!

IMO all your stuff is wonderful.

Your comments about MOJO made a lot of sense to me for myself. My situation is different though as I'm relatively new to all of this and I find there so much out there on the web that I'm a little overwhelmed and don't know how to start.

this card is lovely, know what you mean about the Mojo, I think sometimes we push ourselves to create and "post" but it should be a fun enjoyable process, you creations are always lovely and inspiring and once you get the creative juices flowing know you will create some stunning cards. We all need a break now and then

I think that most of us go through the "blah" period. When this happens to me, I have to back off for a while. I think using the negatives from your punches was very creative and the outcome is beautiful!!!
Your mojo is working just fine Maria.

This is so different, I like it alot!

Sometimes what we need to do is step back for a day or two & take time for ourselves & family then come back & make cards. Also maybe if you make too many cards in one day you could have the tendency to burn out faster. Do you think that is how your feeling?
I know I felt that way after the shower & all that I had created for that. I just didn't want to do anything for awhile.

Don't fret - take a bit of time off and look around you - inspiration will follow - you are talented - maybe it is also time to get a bitof new stuff to play with - it will kick start your creative nature.

Great card Maria! Ilove the punched out shapes and how you stamped and put the ribbon with charm inside the negative shapes... TFS!
