Photo Slider Card Tutorial

Hello Friends! Hallelujah! I created a tutorial. It's been a while since my last one. I actually was motivated to make one. The slider card is not a new concept but I wanted to come up with one using envelopes because I have a lot of them.

I just used random photos, ones that were already printed and just for the purpose of creating the tutorial. The one with me and my husband is a photo taken of us 10 years ago. Holy!!! That's a long time ago. The photo of my daughter is one taken when she was a sophomore or junior in high school. It was taken when she attended the Homecoming dance.

As you can see, when the photo is pulled up, it stands upright. The insert isn't removable. The card also closes flat so you can easily mail it to someone in a standard envelope. It's a no fuss slider card. . .:)
Anyway. . .try out the tutorial. It's pretty simple to create!

What are your plans for today? I'm not sure what I want to do today. Maybe craft a little, exercise a little, clean the house a little. . .it's Monday so it's a great day to start over and try to accomplish goals that I neglected to do last week. Anyway.. . .I guess I should end it here before I get caught up on the computer again! LOL!

Layered Frames and Flower Card

Hello Friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday. It's a cloudy day here in California but it's okay. . .we need water. . . California is drying up! Although I don't like the rain so much, it really helps keep fires from starting up and also keep the landscape nice and green. Being raised in Hawaii, I've never lived where the landscape wasn't green and lush. I lived on the "Leeward" side on the island of Oahu and it's the driest area of the island. I remember thinking back then how brown and dry the landscape was but until I moved to Southern California, wow. . .I now know what brown and dry is. LOL! So, I shouldn't complain about the rain but instead welcome it.. . .it makes everything beautiful. It also clears the smog so you can see the mountains in the distance.

I decided to create a card using my Cricut Expression! I'm really having a lot of fun with it. I have the program "Sure Cuts A Lot 2" and I absolutely LOVE it! The possibilities are endless and I don't have to buy those expensive cartridges. What turned me off in the past with the Cricut was that I did not like the idea of having to buy cartridges. Now that there is a program that allows you to cut not only svg files but most image files including jpeg, png, and giff files. Wow, you can basically cut anything with the Cricut Expression.


I found this great blog site that post free svg files. The blog site that I found the svg file for the layered frame is "Images by Heather". If you have a Cricut Machine and the Sure Cuts A Lot 1 or 2 program, check out this blog site. There's a lot of pretty frames and border files.

There's actually a lot of websites, group sites, and blog sites that share svg files. I'd like to one day be able to find the time to create my own images to share but it's just another thing that I really don't think I can find the time to do. I really wish I had more time to do everything I want to do. LOL! I have a long "dream list". I call it a "dream list" because some of the things on my list are quite grand. I'd like to think I can accomplish a few of them one day.


I initially was going to stamp an image but decided to use my Prima flowers instead. All I did was layer the flowers and attach them together with a brad.

Anyway. . .that's it for today. I think I'll spend my day crafting. Before I go, I recently discovered this song by Kutless. It's a beautiful song. The lyrics makes you reflect on life. . .I think you'll like it!

Scrap Pile Saturday Challenge #2

Hi Friends! It's Saturday and do you know what that means? It means it's Scrap Pile Saturday Challenge again. Last week we had a few players for challenge #1. Yay!! Check out the cute cards that the participants created. I was going to feature 3 participants but because there weren't many that participated, I'll feature all 4 participants. LOL! Okay, here are the rules:

1. Other than your card base, the face of your card MUST be created using ONLY designer paper and card stock from your scrap pile. Do not cut up any new card stock or designer paper.

2. Embellishments added to your card MUST be from "opened" packages. Do not open up a new package or roll of ribbon, brads, buttons, etc.

Here is this week's challenge:

Follow the sketch below and you must use a minimum of 3 "types" of embellishments on your card. For example, brads, charm, and dew drops. You may use any amount of each embellishments. Remember, the embellishments have to be from already "opened" packages.

It's been fun using my scrap designer paper and card stock. It gets easier to use them when you're on a mission of sort. Do you see that star charm? I've had it for ages. . .I just never thought to use it until now.

The same with the heart charm. I had opened a package of charms and used a few of them. There were a few charms left in the package and it sat in a container. I had forgotten about it. I colored my image with Copic Markers and added a bit of SU Crystal Effects to parts of the image. The stamp is from a Unity Stamp Kit of the Month that I'm only now using. I'm glad I finally was able to ink it up.



Do you see the string of pearls? Another stuff I had for a long time and I'm proud to say, I've used up all of the string of pearls! One less stuff in my scrap pile!

Christmas Stampin All Year Long Gift Set Challenge #1 - Card Purse

Hello Friends! Happy Friday to all of you! Guess what today is? Well, it's Christmas Stampin All Year Long Challenge again and this time it's a gift set challenge. The challenge is to create a card purse with a coordinating card. I decided to add a small goody bag as well but it's not part of the challenge.

This card purse is fantastic because it has enough room to fit at least 3 cards with envelopes or a card and a goody bag. The link to the tutorial is located on CSAYL. Be sure to stop by CSAYL and check out all the beautiful gift sets the design team created.

There's no stamping on my gift set. All I did was cut the flowers on my Cricut Expression and layered the flowers. I used a retired SU designer paper set and scrap kit for my card.

Here is the matching card. The design is basically the same as the card purse.


To attach the flowers together, I used a SU rhinestone brad. That's about it! Anyway, hope you'll play along in the Christmas challenge this week! We'd love to see your beautiful project!!

Pink Cat Studio Digital Stamp Release

Hi Friends!! Yes, it's Pink Cat Studio digi stamp release day!!! Yay!! PCS have a nice mix of digi images this week from eggs, to snowboarders, and fairies. With the "Lily Bunny" image above I decided to create an Easter gable box! How fun!!

Below are the templates, one if you cut using Sure Cuts A Lot 2 on your Cricut Expression and the other if you want to trace or cut it yourself. Click on the image and "save" the image to your computer. When you are ready to print the image, you will need to print it twice.

With this Lily I decided to add buttons on the flowers. I colored the image with my Copic Markers.

I decided to use a swirly template to cut the background on my Cricut Expression. It kinda gives the image movement. Again I colored the image with my Copic Markers.

Happiness Card

Happy Wednesday! Do you see the image? Well, I had colored the Stampin Up image about 6 months ago and recently found it after going through my stamped images. Sometimes when I watch TV with my family, I'll color images just to keep myself awake. Watching TV has a way of lulling me to sleep so I'll color images. Unfortunately, a lot of times I don't end up using the images. Not sure why. . .it's usually because I don't like how I colored the image. Many times, I'll color my images in dim lighting while watching television and well, when I turn on the light to look at the image, I end up not liking something about it.


I had colored the image using my Copic Markers and smudged the background with Pebbles, Inc. pastels which have a shimmery effect to the color. I then added a bit of Stickles to parts of the image. Do you see the metal embellishment? Well, it's covering a smudge. LOL! When I was rubbing distressing ink at the edge of the card stock, I accidentally smudged a bit of ink to the white part of the card stock. It ended up working out with the embellishment.


Anyway. . .what are your plans today? I'm hoping to work on a few more cards today. I have another SU image similar to the one on this card so today is a good day to create a card for it. I can't remember the name of SU set for this image. I've put the stamp set away and not sure where it is right now. Anyone know the set name?

Altered Heart Box Tutorial

Hi Everyone!! I'm not sure how long you've been visiting my blog site but up until a year ago, I had 3 crafting blogs. Yeah, isn't that crazy. I mean, I was seriously into it.

Well, I stopped maintaining the other two blogs a year ago. I've been meaning to transfer a few of the posts from my Card Inspired blog and posting it here. Interestingly, my old blog, although I haven't updated it for over a year still receives at least 200 visitors a day. How weird is that? I guess I have links somewhere on Google that still pulls that blog up when people do searches on cards and projects. I'm not sure how long Google keeps an inactive blog on their server so I wanted to make sure I transfer a few of the projects on to this blog before they one day disappears. Hmmmm. . .that would suck, huh?

I created a video tutorial on how to line a round or heart box using designer paper. There's a way to apply designer paper to round boxes so that they appear smooth with a nice finish.

I created this box for mementos and photos that I'll probably place on to my night stand. It makes for a nice bedroom decor while being functional at the same time. I covered my box using Close to My Heart designer paper "More to Adore". It's such a pretty paper especially for Valentines. To decorate the top, I added large prima flower, button, and a metal frame by Making Memories with a photo.

I don't have time to chit-chat but check out the video or written tutorial when you have the chance. It's pretty late right now and I'd like to go to bed. Hope you all have a fabulous day!!

CC Designs Mermaid and Britt Nicole Video

Hi Friends!! Yay! It's March. . .meaning a new day, a new week, and a new month! I was looking forward to the start of a new month. . why? Well, last month was such a sucky month for me. I had such a negative attitude about everything. . .ugggh, I was beginning to not able to stand my own company! LOL!

I was eating unhealthy food, not wanting to craft, not wanting to blog, not wanting to do my chores. The only thing I managed to do is attend church weekly and exercising 3x a week. Other than that. . .life was pretty much blaaaaaaaaaahhhh! Ugggh! I blame it on the rain! LOL! It's been raining here in normally sunny California every week for the past month. Maybe it was chemically induced. . . .. I was telling my husband that the virus I caught in January affected me chemically. I wonder if that can happen. Maybe it attacked my brain.

Anyway. . .so. . .I will be more positive this month. Kick me if you start to hear me whine and complain. . okay. Sometimes I need someone to kick me in the butt and have me snap out of my miserable state.

Well. . .this card was fun to make!!! I used my new CC Designs stamp that you can find at Little C's. I decided to do something different by creating waves on my card! I typically create cards with a regular layout. I'm trying to step outside of my comfort zone. I created the wave with a Creative Memories "scallop" ruler and hand cut the scallop.


I colored my image with my Copic Markers then I added a ric rac and a ribbon. That's about it.

Before I go, I wanted to share a video and song with you. I love listening to Christian bands. Because I live in a valley, it's really difficult to receive transmission of radio stations and the only station that would transmit clearly is the radio station "Air 1". It's a "positive alternative music" station. . .aka. .Christian alternative and positive music. They play a mix of Christian and mainstream music (non-Christian) but all with positive messages.

I wonder if it was God's message to me that I needed to return to him. I've been raised Catholic and attended church throughout my childhood but when I came of age, I sort of stepped away from attending church. While I was in college, I discovered Buddhism and began practicing its philosophies and spiritual practices and I still do. I learned a lot from it. The understanding that we are in control of our thoughts and actions are something I truly believe in. . . that it's not a "higher power" that wills us to be good and compassionate. But. . .I sort of had this mistaken idea that you can't practice Buddhism and Christianity at the same time because the practice is somewhat different. But, the truth is . . .you can be both, not in practice but in values. The values and philosophies are actually very similar.

Anyway. . .back to Air 1. Well, because of Air 1, I discovered music that I absolutely LOVE!!!! The band at our church plays many of the songs that this station plays! I love it.

Okay. . .now to the video. This is a video of a song by Britt Nicole. I love her music. This is one of my favorite songs. . .it's called "You". I have a lot of favorites actually but this is just one of them. I wanted to share it with you. It sort of sums up my experience. . .)
