Fabric Paper Book Cover and Pin Cushions

Hello Friends!! Hey I created another sewing project and this time around, I created my own sewing pattern for the book cover above. It took a bit of tweaking but it turned out pretty good in the end. There are a lot of notebook and book cover patterns on the Internet but I wanted to customize mine to fit a paper back that included pockets. I'll probably try out the other patterns that I saw online.

Ya' know. . .I think I found a new obsession! My brain is churning with the possibilities of sewing a whole bunch of projects. Tonight I have my sewing class and we're going to be actually sewing something today. Our project is a pajama top and bottom with a collar and a cuff. I can sew simple home decor projects because well, no one is going to wear them but I'm a little apprehensive about sewing wearable items. I can't wait to finish my sewing lessons so I can actually start sewing clothes!!

This is the inside of my paper back book cover and both the front and back side of the cover has a pocket to put a memo pad or even a cel phone. . :) Using a SU ribbon, I added a book marker by sewing it to the bottom and decorated it with a crochet and polymer clay flower that I also created.

There's a little stamping here. . .I stamped the image using a Fabrico ink pad that works for the purpose of stamping on fabric and other surfaces. I used the SU "Property Lines" stamp set which worked perfectly for my book cover because the verse says "Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes the day happier". I love it!!!

These are pin cushions I created that were super, duper easy to create. I used this tutorial if you want to try it out: Click Here I'm going to make more of them and you can also make a square one.

It's crazy how many fun blogs and websites there are that are dedicated to sewing and many of the projects are quite similar to paper crafting projects but instead of using paper, you use fabric, rather than taping or gluing something together, you sew them together. It just opens my door to using different materials, textures, and also add to what I'm already doing with paper crafting. If you've never tried sewing, you should try it. . .it's actually not so complicated as I feared it would be. I wish I tried to sew sooner!! It's so fun!

Anyway, that's it for today! Hope y'all have a wonderful Monday!!

Maria, love your project! Actually the colors you chose are beautiful! How long did it take you? That would be a great idea to make a bible cover. Your very talented, I am surprised you do not have your own little business with everything you create;)
