Blogging Burn Out

Hi Everyone!! I actually made a few cards but I've been experiencing blogging burn out lately. Did you know I've been blogging, creating tutorials, creating sketches, making cards practically daily for the past two years. I started blogging in December of 2006. . .my blog anniversary is actually coming up soon! Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 2 years. It's been a fun ride and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I've met such cool people that I would have not otherwise met if it wasn't for blogging.

It's not the blogging that is the problem but for the past few months, I've been wanting to spend more time with my daughter. She's heading out to college next year and I almost feel like there's so little time left to be with her as a "child". I feel a little sad about it but I don't think it has really hit me yet.

Actually, I went through an "anticipatory grieving" process when she first entered high school about 3 1/2 years ago. What does this mean? Basically, it's anticipating a loss when it hasn't occurred yet. You behave like you're experiencing a real loss . . .you know, you get depressed, cry, feel sad, grieve like the experience is actually happening. It's a coping mechanism. . .it's a way for you to prepare for an expected loss so it won't be so bad when it actually happens. Basically, you've cried yourself dry so when it occurs, you already know how it feels so the impact is less severe.

Anyway. . .not only do I want to spend more time with my daughter but I've been doing other things that's kept me from managing my time effectively. Can you imagine. . .blogging needs to be time managed! LOL!

I'm not saying I'm not going to blog any more. . .it's just that if I don't blog for several days, it's usually because I'm spending quality time with my family.

I don't know if it matters but I just wanted to let you know what's up with me!

Until next time! Hope y'all have a wonderful week!

Hello Maria, i so feel for you hun. You spend time with your daughter as much as you can! its so important to make the most of our children, because they grow up so quickly. I fully sympahise with how you've been feeling. I have been going through the same kinds of feelings with my eldest son but for other reasons! he isn't off to college, he has disappeared, taken by aliens! or at least thats how it feels! and they have left this other young man in his place!! they tell me its adolescence, but all i know is i want my baby back!! so you enjoy your daughter hun, we'll all be here as and when you get time to blog. Hugs to you Linda x

Hi Maria.. I know exactly how you're feeling. My daughter and I are very, very close and when she went off to college it practically tore my heart out! We've had several learning and growing experiences over the past 3 1/2 years, and she'll graduate in December. She's still my best friend, and I'm still her 'mommy'... we've managed to grow together.. and still have 'mom time' when one of us needs it. I'm sure you're very proud of your daughter, as I am of mine. I firmly believe children need us more in high school than any other time in their lives.. take the time and treasure the moments you share!

It's ok not to blog daily! It amazes me how much you do! I'm thinking you must stay up 22 hours a day! LOL.

Spend time with your daughter! Family is the most important thing. Your blogging "family" will be here for ya whether you're on every day or once a week! We're not going anywhere!

Blogging is only good when it is fun. Your responsibility is of course to your immediate family, yourself and if there is time left then come visit your blogging friends. Enjoy your time with your family and yourself guiltfree. Happiness is important.

Hey, it's no fun if you're not having fun. Plus, your daughter is so much more important!!!

This month has been nice for me. I only blog when I can and I actually haven't made anything decent since the weekend of the 12th and the break is great not only for me but my family. I have a full-time job and hubby said that it's been great how I've been spending more time with the family than in my craft room. I still love to make things and he has his hobbies too but I think I'm going to limit my creativity to the weekends/crops and a few times during the week.

It's interesting, I told hubby that when M gets to middle school to high school that I am thinking of staying at home or working part-time. I know a lot of ppl stay home when the kids are little but somehow I think it's more important when they are older. M's doing so well now but I know when she's older when she has more questions and life challenges that she'll need one of us more to go to and I want to make sure that work isn't in the way.

Hugs to you and totally understandable!!!

Hugs to you Maria. We're on our third and last child that will soon leave the nest. We cried so much that I didn't think it was possible to cry again until the first one got married, the 2nd one moved out and now the 3rd one a Jr. in Highschool...cried because he was a Jr., cried because he got his driving permit and tearing up now for you. I do have to say - the 2 girls are here more than they were when they lived here. Anyway - I'm always at your site, getting inspiration from you and I have enough to last me a lifetime -so blog when you can and ENJOY your family!

Hi Maria,
I fully understand how you would have a blogging burn out. I don't know how you and others do it day in and day out. I love it and get a lot of inspiration from your posts, but I can live with the MANY ideas that I already have from you. Enjoy your free time with your daughter. Both of our daughters are married and have children, but I sure remember how I felt when they left home! Have fun!

Hello Maria! I understand you! Blogging does take a lot of time. Even for me not as busy as you are and not posting as much, but it takes me a lot of time to write it and etc. Thinking on two languages sometimes is so hard!
Enjoy your time with your family! You are the best Mom!

Maria, I totally understand where you are coming from and you wanting to have more family time. Blogging does take up a lot of our time. I enjoy creating and can do that with my daughter but then when I sit for hours on the computer I feel bad. Sometimes it's best to step back and hug the ones you love and spend what time you have with them. College comes so quickly! I'll be around when you are back...I'll peek in every now and then!

Big hugs!

I have blogger burn out since like...forever. LOL! But I manage it by pre-dating posts. All you have to do is just click "Post Options" on your part where you make your post and then change the date. Voila...you're posting day after day like clockwork. heee!

I mean, I only have two days per week that I can really get in to do any crafting...so I make up a bunch of stuff and then make like 4 or 5 days worth of posts. I do freak a LITTLE when I don't have something to share the next day but it isn't like someone is going to come and take my birthday away for not posting for a day. :)

Take time for you...do what you gotta do to keep yourself sane. Remember, we can't do it all!

You are doing the right thing in making your time 'your' time! Enjoy every second with your family that you can, because they grow up so fast! Big hug! : )

I know how you feel with depression. I suffer from chronic depression, but I can only imagine how it must feel to have your little girl (who's not so little anymore) go off to College. You are so wonderful to have given so much time in blogging! We'll take what we can get! heehee.

Of course you need to spend time with your daughter! I hope you both have lots of fun quality time together and just think how much she'll appreciate your time together when she comes home! heehee ;O)

P.S. Your card is SO lovely. You ROCK! And that Halloween costume is too cute for words! :O)

Your family comes first, Maria. Spend this important time with your daughter--the time that you spend together now will mean so much to both of you to when she's off at school next year.
