Homecoming Dance and Random Card

Hi Everyone! My daughter went to her homecoming dance last night and I wanted to share how cute she looked in her pretty dress. Believe it or not but she didn't want to put make up on. What! LOL! My daughter doesn't wear makeup and do nothing with her hair. She is a minimalist when it comes to her appearance. She is totally comfortable in her skin. I'm happy she's that way but . . . this is going to sound terrible of me but I was like. . ."oh, you should put a little make-up and do your hair a little bit".

I know women have a tendency to have a hang up on their appearance and my daughter is just the opposite so I felt a little bad that I told her to put some make up on but honestly, she would have looked a little pale looking. So, like a bad mom, I put a little make up on her and did her hair a little bit. I mean I only added a minimal amount of makeup. You know a little eye-shadow and lip gloss. That's it because she was getting annoyed with the whole process. I think I need to stop trying to "dress her up". My daughter is happy being "wash and wear" and I should not mess with that, huh! LOL!

By the way. . .she was bored at the homecoming dance. She said that she wanted to have fun but it was only about the hair, make-up and dress and how good everyone wanted to look that no one really seem to be having fun in other ways. She was at the dance for less than 2 hours when she called to be picked up! LOL!

Now to my card! I'm going to make it short. . .I colored the image with Copic Markers, added a little bit of SU "Crystal Effects" to the tulips, pierced around the image and that's basically it.

I matted the image and punched the corners with the SU "Ticket Corner Punch". Nothing much to the card.

I added a flower rhinestone on to the prima flower then applied them to the ribbon.

In this picture, you can see the SU Crystal Effects on the tulips.

This post will be short because I have so many things to do. Time is ticking. . .

Hope y'all have a fabulous Sunday! I'll chat more with my next post!!

That is a very sweet dress and a very pretty girl. I love to see a girl looking feminine and not too much skin. Adorable. She looks like a very nice girl.

Love your cards and love your blog.

Maria, your daughter is beautiful on the outside and it sounds like she is even more on the inside. Good for her not to be caught up in appearances! I have to admit I would probably do the same thing to my daughter though. My dd is 14 and leaves the house every morning with her hair wet and little or no makeup. I'm thinking...put a little effort into it when I should be happy she's not trying to primp too much.

Gorgeous card too! I love all of those tones of pink together.

Your daughter is beautiful! It sounds like things haven't changed much since I was in school - 16 years ago! We always skipped the dances to just hang out at McDonalds or something.

Your card is so pretty. I like how you used the crystal effects to give dimension to the tulips.

almost 18 years ago, my daughter went to homecoming wearing those same colors. Daughter is a redhead and we had a hard time finding a dress not in pastels. Sadly it is about how much you spend these days. I hear girls brag about spending up to 1000.oo on dress, hair, dinner etc. Wonder how much they spend on prom? The next year, daughter wore the same dress but I redid it using red accents. and then later, son wore the dress as a Halloween costume. Then we donated it to a dress drive for the inner city girls. Guess we got our money's worth?
A little blush and maybe some mascara if I really want to dress myself up is all I do, so horray for minimalism. I'd rather spend my money on sweats and running shoes. and a good book.

I do wish I had your daughter's hair. Mine is so flat and pin straight-you can have pin hair but with body. the body part I am missing.

She's SO gorgeous! Too funny that she is wash & wear! That's awesome! Still, no matter how they protest, it's always fun to be fussed over & pampered by your Mom! (More fun than the dance from the sounds of it! LOL.) I just LOVE your card. The tulips are so sweet and glossy looking. Gorgeous colours! Makes me wanna stamp some flowers!!! :O)

Your daughter is so beautiful! That amazes me that she's not a girly girl (high maintenance) but wonderful that she is so comfortable with herself...we could all learn from her! Wish I could be like her but alas I need all the help I can get, hehehe!!!

I luv your card & the crystal effects added so much kife to this card! I'm partial to tulips, their one of my favorite flowers, I just had hubby put more tulip bulbs along the front of our house.
