The Greeting Farm - Farm Fresh Friday Challenge

Hi Friends! Darn it! I'm late for the Greeting Farm - Farm Fresh Friday challenge. I was suppose to post this yesterday in time for the deadline but my computer was a bit hung up! Where have you been, Maria? Sorry for being MIA for a few days. Wanna know why?

Well, I believe it was Monday. . .there was a brush fire about a block from where I live and if you know California brush fires. . .a small fire can turn into a BIG fire. Last year over 3,000 homes were burned down in San Diego alone and about 10 miles from where I live in the town of Fallbrook, 500 homes were burned down.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the fire was. . .what I was going to take with me if we were asked to evacuate and my first thought was taking our family albums, our pets and important papers. Okay, we have a two chest full of photo albums. not including the ones in my computer. Well, that got me worried because well, that would mean taking the two heavy chest and my computer. . .I don't think they'll fit into our cars.

I decided that I should archive all my photos and documents on my computer on to CDs and scan the photos in my photo albums on to CDs as well. This way. . .if need be, I can just grab the CDs instead of taking the photo albums and computer with me. As you can imagine. . .archiving photos on to CDs is not as simple as it sounds.

I have literally thousands of photos. I was able to archive 2008 and 2009 photos on to CDs. Unfortunately, while I'm transferring photos on to CDs, it held up my ability to upload photos from my camera and it slowed down my computer. Believe me, it took a whole day just to delete unwanted files and archive just my 2008 photos. It's a painful process but it has to be done. Besides, if my computer ever crashes, I may lose all my photos so I do have to back them up any way. You should too!

Anyway. . .I created this card the other day for the Greeting Farm - Farm Fresh Friday Challenge. The challenge was to follow a sketch.
I missed the deadline . . oh, well.

I colored Ms Anya with my Copic Markers. That's about it.

Well. . .back to my archiving! Ugggh! I need to work on 2007 photos today. How fun!! LOL!

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful day!

This is beautiful! I love the bright pink and Anya is colored so nicely!

Wow, what a tedious task you have ahead my friend, but what a great idea.

I evacuated for a hurricane once and you do start to realize how many things you have that are irreplaceable that you want to take with you. I threw stuff in my washer and dryer since they were in the center of the house, thinking if the roof blew off, the w & d would be fairly secure. Who knows. Luckily we only had a few downed trees and no electricity for a couple days when we got back. Good you are getting prepared!

This is gorgeous..Love your coloring.
Girl that is a task. When I got this new computer, the work I had to do to clean my old one took me weeks. But do you know they have a program that you can up load Pcmover Essentials, and with this you can pick and choose what you want to download, it is super easy.

Hi Maria! Your card is BEAUTIFUL!!!

You may want to consider investing in some usb flash drives. That way you only have to grab a couple things instead of a million CD's. We decided to go that route when we backed just our music and it took 8 cds. Good Luck on your project.

I back up my pics on my computer every three months & also take all my files (card pics, pics, etc) & put them all on CDs every year I usually do that on New year's day or the day after. If you get in the habit of doing it often it's so much easier. I started doing that when my old computer used to crash alot & I lost lots of pics but at least they were recent pics & not old pics from when the kids were small or I would have been heart broken. Good luck Maria, it will all be worth it in the end!

Your card is jsut gorgeous, Maria!
Love everything about it, especially PINK! :D

Oh, I heard about the fire. It is that season. :( About the photos, you might consider some jump drives. They are tiny and light weight 10 of them equals 1 CD. I always backup my photos, external hard drive and jump drives.

Have a great day!

I am sorry to hear about the fires where you live. Thankfuly, you and your family are fine and your area did not have the fires this time. I'm glad that you were able to get all of your photos backed up. I keep mine backed up on an external hard drive and up on kodakgallery.com. I have way too many photos on my regular hard drive to back up onto disks.

Your card is beautiful Maria.I love that you added the lace to it.
