Scrappy Card

Hi Friends! Yesterday I worked on a few cards primarily using scraps. . .and I mean scraps. Everything on this card except for the card base were created using scraps that I threw in a container. It's amazing what you can put together with left over stuff or stuff that you initially were going to use but decided not to. I have a ton of these hodge-podge of scrap and stamp stuff.

A lot of times, I'll start on a card with certain ribbons, embellishments, etc. . .then later decide I don't want to use those materials. I set them aside or remove them off my card and they end up in a collection bin.

Unfortunately, what ends up in the collection bin are odds and ends and nothing matches.

Anyway. . .maybe a good goal for you is to create a card using primarily stuff from your scrap pile and bin.

Well, if you have stories about your European trip, I'd love to hear about them or if you live in a European country, tell me more about your country. For travelers, tell me what met your expectations, what disappointed you, tell me what I should and should not do. . .I'd love to hear your travel experience.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Gosh, Maria, this is a beautiful "scrappy" card if you ask me. You have beautifuf scraps to use! I think it's a great idea so I'm going to go through my scrap pile and try to make a card. Your European winter trips sounds like a winner! That is our dream to travel to Europe. We've only been to Switzerland and loved it there. The people are so friendly and speak many languages including English so it was easy communicating. Buy something notable from the country you are in as a keepsake...don't hesitate. Sacrifice your food money for something memorable! We didn't have much play money at the time but we invested in a well made cuckoo clock and have wonderful memories every time we look at it! Hugs, Cami

OOh, great colorful scrappy card maria! Got me thinking about my big need to use up those bin-fulls of scraps!!! lol

About your European trip; It sounds exciting! Make the best of it!! Id be happy to share my experiencesas we've lived in Germany and we also traveled through several beautiful European countries including Italy, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Netherlands, etc...... Take the railroad trips for sure, do lots & lots of shopping, (the genuine antiques available are truly hundreds of years old-so you'll bring back true origin piece of history), take lots of photos of all the wonderful scenery, take it all in while you can-travel, see and try the wines, the beers, the delicious foods! Dont miss the many castles famous and not so famous like the Neuschwanstein, the amazing Cathedrals and all the history/historical sites for sure... aahhh, so MUCH to do... sooo much to see. I sure do miss Europe! Hope this helps! :)

First of all, you have really inspired me to go through my scraps. I was just talking to Jen about ALL the many scraps I have. What was I gonna do with them!?! I will take your advice and TRY to create a card with it. Prayerfully it looks like yours =0)

As for Europe, wowwee...it will be fun and very memorable. We did as a matter of fact travel to Europe (last July). We traveled the southern/Mediterranean parts of Europe (France, Turkey, Greece, Italy, & Spain). Out of all, I'd have to say France, Turkey, & Greece were our favs. Their mannerism, hospitality, and culture, was an experience alone. Italy (Rome, Venice, Livorno,Pisa, Florence, & Naples)was very interesting. Very rich in culture, very protective of their culture and wasn't too tourist friendly. I would say, the best part for us, as homeschoolers was, the educational aspect of it. Our most fav. place in Italy however, I'd have to say, was Naples. Although it's not the most attractive place to site see (as my hubby would say, it reminds him of where he grew up...the Bronx, New York), the people were sweet and considerate. They really showed appreciation toward our visit. Rome, omgosh...has lots to visit. So full of history and education. When visiting the Vetican city, be sure to cover up (clothing to cover shoulders and legs for women and men must cover up shoulders and thighs). They are VERY strict with this. The Trevi fountain was also a beautiful site. Very, very busy there but beautiful. Venice is at it's most beautiful in the evening. Barcelona, Spain, very rich in culture. Not too tourist friendly. The most important thing we wanted to bring back from Europe was...the cultural experience, education, & memories. And we did just that. Although we did do some, shopping was not really a highlight for us. However we did buy little souvenirs from each country. Be careful when shopping. Be sure the item you are purchasing is "Made" in that country and authentic. Just like everywhere else (like Hawaii), you will find lots of items made in China. You want to stay away from that. Our biggest regret however, is that we didn't take the time to experience the cultural food from each country. That's a must. I can go on and on, but I won't. Hope this helps. We do plan on returning to Europe but next time it will be the northern parts.

Hey Maria,

Wow girl you have a way of making scraps look totally stunning!! I love those petals again and the layers are perfect!!

I have not been to Europe I want to kick myself because my Hubby wanted to go to Europe for our Honeymoon and I had my heart set on going to the Poncono's and having our own Swimming Pool in our room and our own 7 foot tall chamaigne glass whirl pool bath and now I wish I had chosen Europe because who knows when we might go back??

My MIL and FIL just got back from Holland for 10 days and 3 years ago they went to Switzerland and France and they have really enjoyed all their trips but they did have to do a lot of walking in the evenings before their trips to get in shape for all the walking on their trips!!!

Wow Christmas in Rome??? and New Years in Paris that sounds totally amazing!!! Where will the kids go??? I know they are in college and not really kids but just wondering?? LOL!!!!
