SCS Challenge - Try a New Technique - TLC227 and Photo of the Day

Hi Friends! I'm back from my trip to Disneyland!! It was a fun 3 days. Hey. . .were any of you there? My GAWD!! Disneyland was stinkin' crowded. I thought New Year's Eve was bad. . .July 4th was just as bad or even worse! There were so many people. . .I've never seen so many people in one place. We were packed like sardines. I thought my husband was going to have a melt-down! LOL! My husband hates crowds so subjecting him to this sort of torture. . .well, the poor guy was not happy. He was complaining that he felt like we were being herded like cows and kept saying "moo" as we were walking through the crowd. He was really annoyed but at the same time I thought it was hilarious!

Being around crowds don't bother me . . .I don't bet annoyed too easily so I was just going with the flow. Besides, I love Disneyland and their fireworks so I was more happy that I was there to see it rather than being stressed about the amount of people there. The fireworks was awesome! It was spectacular. I really enjoyed it!

It was overall a fun trip. The only negative thing was that it was so hot. It was difficult to stand in line for a ride without feeling like you're being cooked. Thank God for the "fast pass"! LOL! It's sort of funny when you have a fast pass that allows you to move ahead of the line in front of all the hundreds of people waiting in line and you see every one look at you with envy! LOL!

Anyway. . .I decided to play in last week's Monday SCS Challenge Try a New Technique - TLC227 The challenge was to create a card using the "Faux Burnt Edge" technique.

It basically gives your edge a burnt or distressed appearance. I used Tim Holtz distressing ink to create the burnt edge. You can't really see it but I also used a distressing tool to give the edge a torn distressed appearance.

The image is from the SU "Soft Summer". This is the first time I inked this stamp set. I've been working through my Stampin Up stamps and using the sets that I haven't inked since buying them.

Scroll down to check out my "Photo of the Day".

Card Details:

Stamps: SU Soft Summer
Paper: SU Parisian Summer, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Tim Holtz Distressing Ink, Copic Markers
Accessories: Jolee's Boutique, Fiskar Embossing Template, Martha Stewart Punch, Nestabilities, SU Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon

Photo of The Day
"Family Party"

If you read my post a few days ago. . .the primary purpose of our Disneyland trip was to attend my cousin's graduation party. The party was close to Disneyland and because it was the July 4th weekend, we took the opportunity to stay at Disneyland for a few days.

The photos are of my daughter with my cousins and Aunt at the graduation party. The party was a "Hawaiian/Luau" theme so that is the reason for the Hawaiian attire. My aunt and my cousin flew from Pennsylvania to attend the graduation party. It was really nice to see them again. The last time we saw them was 2 years ago.

This is a picture of my daughter with her cousin Sarah. Gosh, it's really strange to see both of them all grown up. Sarah is 3 years older than my daughter and the last time they saw one another, my daughter was far shorter than her cousin so the first thing my daughter said to her cousin was "I thought you were tall"! LOL!

Anyway. . .we had a nice time at the party. It was nice to see my family which I don't get to see too often now a days. Every one lives far away or in different states so the only time we get to see one another is during a major event.

Well, I'm glad to be back blogging and crafting! I have a lot of catching up to do! Uggh!

Hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday!

Welcome back! Happy to hear you had a good time in Disneyland. I can remember how crowded it was when I was there 1/1/76 (BIG CROWDS) I laughed at the part about your hubby moo'ing!!!

Great card, Love the colors and embossing and distressing. It all goes fantastic together.

What a pretty card ... and A GORGEOUS picture too! I was cracking up when reading about your husband "mooing"! I can just imagine how crowded it was at DL. It's been a couple years since we've been there, but I sure remember the crowds!

This is such a lovely card Maria. I'll have to try that technique. I use the distress inks a lot - but usually very lightly.

Glad you still had fun on your trip. We went to Williamsburg at Thanksgiving once - same thing, wall to wall people LOL!
