Christmas Stampin All Year Long Challenge #9

Hi Friends! Yes, it's Christmas Stampin All Year Long challenge time again and this week's challenge is a sketch! Stop by the group blog and check out the challenge and the fabulous samples created by the design team. I hope you'll play along this week! We're on Challenge #9 already! Whoohoo!

Just a little bit about my card. I stamped my image twice, colored the image with my Copic Markers, cut the birds out, heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder, and remounted the bird image on the 2nd stamped image with foam tape. I wanted to give the birds a 3D appearance.

In person the image is actually a bit shimmery and you can see more a mix of the different colors. I wish the photo could have shown it better!

As you can see in this photo. . the birds are popped up! How fun!

Fisheye Lens Photo - Backyard and Dancing Phoenix

For Christmas my husband bought a few camera lens for me and I had no idea how to use them. . .one of which was a fisheye lens. Actually, it's a semi-fisheye macro HD lens. . whatever that means! LOL! Anyway, I decided to use it yesterday and I took a photo of our waterfall and part of our backyard with the lens and "wow", I love the results. I can't believe I never tried to use the lens before. Keep in mind, I had no idea how to use it. LOL! I just sort of snapped photos with no particular purpose in mind.

Do you see how the slope in our yard sort of curves? Well, that is the result of the lens. . .it gives your photo a curved appearance. What do you think?

Here is a better photo of the results of a fisheye lens can do to your photo. This photo is our dog Phoenix. Do you remember Dakota our flying dog? Well Phoenix is our dancing dog. He can actually stand on his back legs for an extended period of time and actually look like he is dancing. He is adorable when he dances for us.

Little Paper Shop Digital Image

Hi Friends! In moments of clarity, have you ever asked yourself the question "Why?". LOL! I opened a container full of craft stuff, mostly "junk" and was looking through them and I was like "why the heck did you buy these?", "Why did you think these were nice?", "When did you think you were going to use these". . .LOL! Seriously! I don't know what overcomes me when I'm at the store. I have stuff that I can't imagine putting on my cards or scrapbook layout . . .well, today. . .back then I did buy them for a reason.

I found these cute heart die cuts. . .a few that were actually worth using. I'm hoping to breath some life into the junks that I bought 4 years ago. I don't have the heart to throw them out. . .they may be useful one day. It's the pack rat in me.

Anyway. . .now to my card. Just a whole lot of pink on this one. I won't go into my disaster story because you'll think every card I make starts off as a disaster. . .but it's true, many of my cards start off that way. This one was no exception but what matters is the end results.

Just a hint. . .if you see my images cut out and remounted. . .it's usually because I messed up. LOL!

I colored my image with Copics. . .again. I think I'll stop stating the color medium I used unless it's other than Copics, okay!

Whoohoo! Today is a beautiful day. I want to go bowling today but my husband hurt his bowling finger. . .I haven't gone bowling for 3 weeks. I want to leave him behind and just go bowling without him but he'll feel bad.

Recipe Pocket Card Tutorial

Hi Friends!! Happy Saturday to you all! Yay, Spring Break starts today for my daughter. What does that mean? Well, me staying up late and getting up late! I love it. We're planning to go on a trip at the end of the month but right now, it's up in the air. We had initially planned to go but we'll see.

I created this pocket card sort of randomly. I initially was just going to create a tag but it sort of evolved into a pocket card. I remembered I had created a tutorial in November of last year so I added a tutorial of this project. The only difference is that I had added a "recipe card" element to my tutorial. This pocket card is just an insert with no recipe.



The goal for this card was to actually use a few of my designer paper and card stock from my scrap pile. I had colored the image a while ago and really didn't know what to do with it. I could have made a regular card but I wanted to do something different so this is what I came up with.

I really don't like purple so I don't use it often but I had colored the image purple so I had to work with purple dps, card stock and embellishments.

Stampin Up Crazy for Cupcakes and Photo of the Day

Hi Friends!! Happy Friday! Gosh, I'm glad it's Friday! My favorite day is Friday because I get to stay up late and my family gets to stay up late with me! LOL! We usually hang out late at night watching movies. It's just fun! What is your favorite day?

Initially, I wasn't "feeling" this card. I'm not sure why. I think it's my choice of designer paper. I think the image was calling out for something cuter. . .but I'm trying to rid my ever growing scrap pile and I couldn't find a cute green/pink designer paper in my scrap pile. Can you believe that?

Anyway. . .I colored the image with my Copic Marker and added a bit of Stickles to the image. I double stamped the image and remounted one image with foam tape.

Here is a close up of my card. I love creating 3D effects to my images. . .it's just fun to see it pop up!

I really don't have much to say today. I have a lot of things to do and I just want to get this card posted.

Flying Dakota

This is a photo of my dog Dakota! He is a super excited dog and very greedy! We love playing with his mind by showing him doggie treats and holding it up. Because Dakota is so greedy, he'll jump like mad to get to the treats so that his brother Phoenix can't get at it first. He'll jump really high and he can actually jump a few feet high. He just needs a motivation and he'll keep doing it until you give him the treat.

The terrible thing is that he'll swallow the treat whole. . .gosh, he don't even get a taste of it. He'll sometimes regurgitate it and hide it somewhere in our yard. He sort of accumulates his treats and search for them later in the day. We figured that he stashes them somewhere after we realized he seem to always have treats that we know we did not give him. That is how greedy he is. . . .crazy dog.

Spring Time Tilda

Good Morning Friends!! Yesterday after I picked up my daughter from school, we decided to do a "girls hangout day" together so we went and got our hair done. We both cut and had our hair highlighted. I told the lady I wanted a few chunky "brown" highlights in two different colors to make it look natural. I even provided a photo of the color. . . well, when I was at the salon, because of the lighting, it looked okay. When I got home, my husband said "why do you have blonde hair". . . I'm like "it's not blonde, it's brown". He's like "did you look in the mirror?". Well, I stepped into the bathroom, looked in the mirror, and lo' and behold, some of the highlights were "blonde"! Argggghhh! Okay, I'm Asian. . .Asians don't have blonde highlights.

I was a bit bummed. . .I paid good money, I have the urge to head to the store, buy hair dye and reduce the overly lightened parts of my hair but at the same time, I feel like I would be wasting the money I paid. I mean it don't look bad. . . on a white person! LOL!! It's not so bad, luckily it's just "highlights" and it is mixed with dark and light brown colors but I do look like a surfer chick. . .you know with blonde streaks!

Has this ever happen to you? I rarely have my hair done because I've had a few disasters and I get really upset knowing I wasted my money. My daughter's highlights and hair cut turned out beautiful. It looks really natural!!

Anyway, about my card. . .I colored Tilda with my Copic Markers. I added that flourish thing sorta last minute. I'm not sure I like it but that's okay, I'll leave it. . .it's something different.

Do you see Tilda's face. . .well it's popped up a bit because I messed up on her original face. LOL! I didn't want to waste the rest of the image so I just went ahead and stamped the image again, color her face, and remounted it over the original image.

What are your plans today? I still need to finish my laundry. . .it's been 3 days since I started, do some chores, and maybe I'll take a few photos around town.

DD's New Hairdo

This is a photo of my daughter's new hairdo. Nothing drastic. She had her hair layered a bit and highlighted with brown streaks. I think it turned out really nice. For my daughter, doing her hair is a big deal because she's a "wash and wear" sort of person. She's seriously low maintenance. She doesn't do her hair or use make up. I sort of talked her into getting her hair done. Luckily, they didn't do anything drastic to her hair or she would have been mad at me. She's happy with the results and I am too.

Celebrate in Style

Hey Friends! Are you the same person that you were in high school or growing up? Me? Not even close. LOL! I was pretty wild. . .sorta a delinquent. Shocking? LOL! Actually, I was the same person on the inside but it wasn't expressed outwardly. Only in my mid-20s is when I decided to express the person on the inside outwardly. . .the boring me. I'm pretty square and I felt when I was growing up that I was rather ordinary. . .I still am but that's okay. Ordinary is good.

Considering I was such a delinquent in high school, it's surprising that I ended up in college and obtained my Bachelors degree. Friends in high school would be surprised. I hated high school . . .I found it boring but college was a different story. I loved it. I met interesting people who valued the same things as I did. . .they were like me (the real me) so it was easy to just be myself.

Anyway. . .on to my card. . .did you know that Sizzix sell stamps now. I found this Sizzix stamp set at JoAnns. Unfortunately, there was only one set. It was a cute set so I bought it.

Hey I love this color combo. I wanted to play around with a different color combo because it seems my cards are either pink/brown, pink/green, blue/green, blue/yellow. . .etc. What do you think of this color combo? I like it.

I colored my image with my Copic Markers and added the primas.

No sketch today. . .the layout is too simple that I didn't think it required a sketch.

Inky Impressions Design Team Call

Hey Friends! I want to share this piece of news with you. . .Inky Impressions is having a design team call. I know some of you want to badly be part of a design team and this may be your opportunity. It appears that Inky Impressions is a new stamp company.

I didn't apply for the design team. I'm already on a few design teams and I don't want my blog to only be about work I'm doing for design teams. I have thousands of stamps that don't see the light of day and I really need to use them. Besides, I want to do the best work possible for the current design teams I'm on and want to dedicate a day for that company when I post my card. I don't like posting over a post when I create a card for the DT I'm on.

The images at Inky Impressions are adorable and I was tempted to apply but I restrained myself. LOL!! I'll consider a guest designer position! ***hint, hint*** Go check it out. . .you may be chosen!! Good luck!!
