San Diego Fires
I colored the image directly with the markers then blended the colors using an aquapainter similar to watercoloring. It actually came out okay. It blended quite well.
Did y'all hear about the San Diego fires? Well, my husband left for the airport this morning at 5:30. His flight to Minneapolis was at 8:45 which he missed because they had closed one of the main highways in San Diego and he had to drive around on to another highway. Unfortunately traffic was so bad he decided to turn around rather than attempt to fly standby for a later flight. I heard on the news that 250,000 people were evacuated and over a hundred houses were burned down. Sad. I live at the outskirt of San Diego about 30 minutes away from the fires so we're safe right now but it appears the fire is spreading.

Hi Maria: We were woke up this morning (in Madison, Wisconsin) at 6am (4am your time) to our son calling from Escondido telling us he was moving his family out and heading for safety. They live right next to the Wild Animal Kingdom Park and they were seeing FLAMES. Said they were all scared and not sure what was going to happen to their property or entire neighborhood-Haven't heard from them this PM so hoping that things are somewhat under control this PM. Know the San Anna Winds are blowing like crazy so HOPE you and your family are OKAY.
Our other son lives in Oceanside and teaches at the grade school in your town so think he and his family are okay.
We will keep you and all those in the San Diego area in our thoughts and prayers and hope that these fires will come under control very soon. Keep us posted how you are doing. Kadie from Madison, Wisconsin.
OMG - I must've have slept thru all the news with my head cold. All I heard was about Malibu and here, in Hawaii, about brush fires near Makaha finally under control.
How frightening and sad for all involved in the loss of the homes.
keep safe and well..
I hope everything is alright for your mob over there. Haven't heard the news ( I rarely watch it ). I should imagine that it would make international news though. So maybe we will hear about it here.
About your eyelets. I thought you must of been in a rush when doing the card. :) Great cards though. :)
I have been watching the news about the fires. So tragic. My family and I were just there on vacation last week. Stay safe.
Cute snowmen card
Maria, hope you stay safe & things will soon get under control & winds will stop, I'll be thinking of you. Deb aka Stampingranny was evacuated early yesterday morning & is safe at a friends house, just to let you know. How scary for all of you, I can't imagine! I love your snowman card, it's so cute.
Great cards, Maria!
I am glad to hear that you are safe...for now. You stay safe...hopefully the wind dies down today and they can get those fires under control.
Surfed through your blogs and enjoyed all the cards and projects.
It is sad about the fires in California.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers Maria. This situation is just awful...I hope that the fires can be contained soon. This is so up-setting to me!
I love your card ( I love all of your cards!)
In the meantime, be safe Maria.

Prayers for all of those in the fire area and for those fighting the fires.
I wanted to share with you the snowman card I made from your sketch that has inspired me. I just love your sketches and use them all the time. Thanks for sharing them with us.
