Watercolored Card with a Little Sparkle

Happy Saturday, Everyone! How was your 4th of July? Well, yesterday I had said that my daughter volunteered at a community July 4th event and I thought it was at the winery but it was at a community park but not the "main" community event. Well, we went to meet her later in the afternoon and there really wasn't anything going on. After she fulfilled her commitments, we decided to head to the main event at another park. Whoa! By the the time we got there. . .available parking was like over a mile away. I was willing to walk the distance but my kids and husband really weren't THAT excited to go to the fireworks events. They were like "we've seen enough fireworks"! I was sooooooooo disappointed. I love fireworks. I don't care I've seen a lot of them. I just like the feeling of festivities and it's just fun and exciting.

Well. . .we ended up eating dinner at a nice restaurant. . .afterwards parked our butts at the park that my daugther volunteered at earlier in the day and watched the fireworks from there. It was at a distance and it wasn't as nice as it could have been but oh, well! Next year I'll make sure we get to the event earlier so we won't have a parking issue. If my family don't want to go. . .I'll go by myself! LOL!

Anyway. . .about my card. Well I watercolored the image using SU markers. After it dried I applied a little sparkle to the image using Gelly Roll "Stardust" Clear pen. It gave the image a sparkly look to it but you can't really see it in the picture.

I'm a little tired of using designer paper so I decided to create my own background using the Inkadinkado stamp set "Garden Delight". It's such a pretty stamp set. The primary image is a stamp from an older SU stamp set. I colored this image a while ago so I don't remember the stamp set name. Sorry. All I know is it's a "sympathy" stamp set.

Well, I hope y'all had a wonderful 4th of July and that your weekend will be FABULOUS!!

Both of your cards are great! I love that you've made you own background paper... and that gelly roll pen really make the flowers "glow"

Hi Maria, i subscribe to your blog but have never commented, but just had to this time, I love your cards and especially the stamped backgrounds, I get a little tired of seeing designer paper all the time, I also had to respond about the fireworks, i am with you, I always want to see fireworks. My birthday is July 4th, (I was 58 yrs on the 4th) and it just doesn't seem like my birthday or the 4th of July unless I can watch the biggest and best fireworks show. (I like to be close too, but not always possible) I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy all of your creations, thank you

Beautiful card Maria! I love the purples and greens together.

I'm sorry you had to miss out on the fireworks excitement. At least you probably didn't have to deal with the after fireworks traffic.

Lovin' your handmade designer papers. Gorgeous! And the idea to glitter over the whole image is ROCKIN' It looks so very gorgeous here & I bet it's even glittery-er & prettier in person. :0)
