Blog Candy - Concerts I've Seen Live in Person. . .

***UPDATE***

Blog Candy Prize
I love mixing scrapbook embellishments and scrapbook paper with my rubber stamped cards so I thought this was a good mix of stuff for a blog candy. I especially love the alphabet chipboards right now so I decided to share some with you!!
*****************

Here is what you need to do to participate in the blog candy: Tell me (by leaving a comment) who you've seen in concert live in person and in parentheses, add a little note about the concert like I did with my list. Lastly, add one band or entertainer you wish you could see in concert.

I'll draw the name of the winner on Wednesday, May 2nd at 6:00 p.m. (PST). I'll post the picture tomorrow. I need to pick out some candy to give away.

Just so you don't think I'm a head banging chick! (See previous post). . .I've been to many concerts. I, actually, have a diverse taste in music. Below are concerts I've seen "Live" in person:

Def Leppard (Remember them in the 80s - drummer's one arm was amputated)

Boston (I was in the 6th Grade)

Rex Smith (haha, don't laugh - do your remember him?) - If you can tell me who Rex Smith is, I'll add an extra goody.

Carole King (Beautiful concert - it was a sit down dinner style concert - oldies but goodies)

Janet Jackson (By far the best concert I've been to - lots of choreography and stage production with lady bugs and people in costume. The concert was more like a show than a concert)

Michael Jackson (Second best concert - I had VIP sitting - purchased the tickets the day of the concert and the VIP seats opened up - I was in the 21st row to the stage. It ended with a huge firework show)

Deep Purple (seen them when I was in the 7th or 8th grade and had no idea who they were)

Ozzy Osborne (Not as crazy as people made him up to be - no bird's head was bitten off)

Black Sabbath (Serious rock n roll - not much I can remember. . .the venue was so large, I just remember walking around through out the whole concert)

Bon Jovi (Big hair days - they were actually very good)

Ted Nuggent (All I can remember was that he looked wild and someone in the audience spit on him and he spat back - disgusting)

Bobby Brown (Danced my butt off - it actually was a really good concert)

Run DMC (Major jammin' - everyone was dancing and the place smelled of sweat)

Celine Dion (Great songs but a real mellow concert - very Vegas like)

Alanise Morisette (She was strange, all she did was rock back and forth in one place like she was zoning out and did funny things with her hands. She also looked bored)

Switchfoot ( I think the singer was drunk - he stumbled on stage and sounded as if he was slurring)

Los Lonely Boys (Great rockin' with a latin flavor - great guitar solos)

Hootie and Blowfish (Really mellow - this was a concert years after they were popular. The singer wore a straw hat and looked much older than what they are known to look)

B52s (Not my style - this was a concert when they were older - they looked like they were in their late 50's or early 60s)

Train (He did these weird ballet moves - not very rock n roll if you ask me)

Britney Spears (Great entertainer - fun concert - she did a benefit concert when she did a TV special in Hawaii. The concert stage was at the beach)

Destiny's Child - Beyonce Knowles (Sexy ladies that's for sure - great concert - this is with the last set of girls - not the original group)

NSYNC (Fun concert - great choreography - they wore harness and floated in the air over the audience. . .I brought my daughter for a New Years Eve Concert - she was bored, I had fun)

The Police (It was their "farewell" concert - the last concert before they disbanded - it was a touching concert)

I've seen more concerts but I can't remember all of them right now. They were mainly rock concerts in the 80s.

Like I said in the previous post, I'm going to see 30 Seconds to Mars, the Used, Plain White T's, the Bravery, Say Anything, Social Distortion, and more to be announced on May 20th at the X-Fest San Diego. Whoohoo! Can't wait to see them!!

I would love to see Green Day!!

During Spring Break, I took my grown daughter to see the Beach Boys ... funny how that music took me back to my memories, but she enjoyed it as well, Maybe because she got to enjoy it in Melbourne FLorida and she goes to school in New York !!! * she went back during the snowstorm that grounded all the planes )

I haven't really been to any concerts in years. During the late 70's I used to work at a small concert hall in my town taking tickets (I also got in free plus could bring a friend to all concerts)and saw Lighthouse, Chubby Checkers, as well as some other bands of that time that I can't remember. I also went to see Alice Cooper Schools Out concert which was awesome. My complaint was everyone stood on their chairs so short people like me couldn't see and then those behind my row started to chant down in front so loud you couldn't hear the band.

Rex Smith was a 70's teen idol. I remember him from Teen Magazine. He also had the song You Take My Breath Away.

Hello! Here's my list:
Cinderella (head banging, not the princess!)
Bon Jovi (lots of fun)
Gin Blossoms (totally sucked - I left after a half hour)
Yanni (Went cause it was free, but ended up loving it and bought all the CD's)
I can't think of any others - I didn't get out much! I'd like to see Garth Brooks or Tim McGraw in concert! Thanks!

Wow! great blog! This is my 1st visit and I think I'll be back again. Okay, Rex Smith was a gorgeous teen idol who starred in the sweet movie Sooner or Later - your typical young girl makes herself look older and cut teen boy thinks she really is older ... He also sang "Take My Breath Away"
As for my concerts - I haven't been to too many. Does Dragon Tales Live count? (It was boring for me, but my daughter loved it.)

I saw REO Speedwagon - which I still love. (saw them at an outdoor concert at a local county fair)
Shania Tawin (she is an awesome entertainer and really brings the audience in)
I would love to see Brooks & Dunn and Sting live in concert sometime.
So, there are my entries and thanks for offering the blog candy.
have a super night!

This will be tough as my boyfriend runs a country station and I am now and American living in Canada - so I see a lot of country and Canadian acts and know not who they are! I will try:

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Willie Nelson (I am now a huge fan of both)

Rolling Stones (sat through that concert in constant rain wearing a trash bag yay me)

Rob Thomas (got to meet him too - I swooneddddddd)

Michael Buble (I had no idea who he was when I got to meet and see him in an old tiny theatre - his manager said he was about to hit it big and never play in such a venue again and she was right)

Shay (they are filming a reality show and cameras were everywhere - they are so funny watch for them this summer)

Matt Anderson - huge guy who sings rock and blues and is incredible

George Canyon, Sugarland, Allan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn and so many more local bands I cant recall - this was an outdoor concert and I got to meet Sugarland she is sooooo tiny in person and they were very nice. Rained for this one too and we got stuck in the mud along with everyone else. Was fun to watch the men all covered in mud pushing cars and trucks like toys lol.

Godsmack - this was for an acoustic heavy metal tour it was so cool

Styx - Very cool and fun but I dont know much about them but I liked it

JD Clark - one of those I dont know but he is quite popular here in Nova Scotia

Prince - man can he put on a concert

Sarah McLachlan - twice! My honey took me to Boston for my birthday to see her, she is amazing

Tragically Hip- didnt know who they were when I went but loved them

Great Big Sea - coolest band ever! Imagine Fisherman pop!

Roadhammers- didnt know who they were but kind of hard country. Very good

Dixie Chicks - they opened with saying how nice it is to be in a country where they dont get spit at

Seeing Faith Hill and Tim McGraw soon, and Aerosmith!

Rex Smith is a one hit wonder with the song You Take My Breath Away

I really want to see The Police tour sigh!

Many years later I got to go see Crystal Gail, her hair is toooo long but she did a great performance...Kenny Rogers, Great show but he won't shake hands with anyone...Sawyer Brown, loved them. I'm not really into Country Music but when someone gets you third row seats you go...Also saw Jeremy Camp when he did a concert at our church. He's great, I love to hear him sing...I would really, really like to see Elton John.

Been to quite a few, and a good variety. Some I've seen multiple times. ;)

Rick Springfield (1st concert...seen multiple times. Met twice)
Billy Joel (seen multiple times, and with Elton)
Huey Lewis & The News (seen multiple times)
REO Speedwagon (when I was in high school)
Van Halen (with Sammy Hagar)
Eddie Money (saw in high school and recently with Rick Springfield)
Paul McCartney (saw in 89)
Elton John (multiple times, once with Billy Joel)
Bryan Adams (saw many times...one of my very favorites!!)
Kenny Loggins (saw multiple times, met twice)
Garth Brooks
Alan Jackson
Vince Gill
Brooks & Dunn
Wynonna (saw multiple times)
JoDee Messina (saw multiple times, met once)
Kenny Chesney (saw multiple times)
Keith Urban (saw multiple times, met once....he's my FAV right now!!)

I know there are others, but I can't seem to come up with them right now. I have also seem several contemporary Christian artists such as Steven Curtis Chapman. Many may not be familiar with them, so I won't list them.

Hmmm who would I like to see?? Probably Keith Urban & Bryan Adams. Yea, I know I've seen them...but I don't get tired of their shows!!

Dave Matthews band (good, but they were either drunk or high)

Alanis Morrisette(ok)

Would love to see Celine Dion

I have been to quite a few concerts and like you have very diverse taste in music. I am not going to list them all here but I will list a few I can think of off the cuff.
1. Tiffany
2. Roxette
3. The Nylons
4. Barenaked Ladies (at least twice)
5. The Arrogant Worms (several times)
6. Jann Arden
7. The Philosopher Kings
8. Tragically Hip (several times)
9. Sheryl Crowe
10. Motley Crue
11. Poison
12. Bryan Adams ( at least 3 times)

One of my favorite concerts was Jann Arden. I always thought that if she did not make it as a singer she could have been a stand up comedian.

I also really like the Arrogant worms because they are totally off the wall and fun with songs like The Last Saskatchewan Pirate and Jesus' Brother Bob.

Poison was great too because I went to see them when they toured just three years ago or so and it was really funny to see Brett Michaels this many years later with his bandana and leather pants.

One concert I would really like to see would be something hip hoppish just because I have never been to a hip hop or rap concert.

This was a lot of fun!

Jan Scholl said...

I have been to hundreds-really! So I can't single out one or another. But I can tell you who I wish I had seen. The Carpenters. I was in the hospital having my son when they were here in my area-it was the last time they toured and of course, I was a little too busy to see them. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would never be able to either. My kids all love them too. I never miss a day without listening to them.

Haven't been to a concert in years.......but I am going to see the POLICE in Houston in June!!! I am so excited.

Some of these I forgot about, with good reason!!

Back in Junior High my BF loved The Monkey's. She dragged me to their reunion concert (mid 80's) and it was pure torture!! Not a fan of The Monkey's. Not to mention that I had poison ivy all over, it was miserable. Forgot this one.

Next one, I was in HS to some terrible Head Bangers Ball gathering of the long haired people. I was dragged by another friend to this one. Forgot about this one too.

Chicago. They were awesome.

U2 twice....the first one was the best concert I have ever been to. The second one was good too. They are phenomenal.

My sister entered a radio contest and won 6 sets of tickets to the Eagles reunion tour. Joe Walsh (think that's his name) was so drunk. Me and my husband just laughed he was hilarious. Good concert though.

Living 20 minutes from Houston rodeo, I have been to my fair share. Not to memorable though, since most were country music, and I don't care for country music.

Last concert I went to was Depeche Mode. My friend Andrea wrecked her car on our way to the concert. We got a ride from the tow truck driver, back to her house to get my car. We were only 45 minutes late to Depeche Mode, but missed the opening act. Andrea later hooked up with the tow truck driver.

Now that I have been married for 12 years my concert days are long over...........until June anyway!!!

Thanks for the fun question and the chance for some goodies!!

I don't usually post on your blog but I do check it out on a regular basis. I had to post because I actually own Rex Smith's album Sooner or Later from 1979 (I was 14 and thought he was the cutest thing I'd ever seen). Haven't listened to the album in years but your post brought back fun memories.

The JETS (5th grade, country fair)
George Michael (No Elton John)
Poi Dog Pondering (don't ask)
Stone Temple Pilots (awesome acoustic set with a couch, rug and lamp - Red Rocks in Denver)
Dave Matthews Band - TWICE
Jimmy Buffet (danced with strangers)
Pat Green

Kutless( my music taste has obviously changed!)
Casting Crowns
Third Day

I know I'm missing a couple

I didn't ever really love concerts so there is no one I missed seeing.

mmmmmmmmmm I think if memory serves me right, my last concert was Rod Stewart (he is my most absolute favorite!)

I wish I could have seen Bob Segar, but it was financially impossible, KWiM?

I have seen the Beatles in 64 in Las Vegas, the first concert I was ever at. It is very interesting seeing all the girls go ape over them, screaming, jumping around and pulling their hair and beating my brother on the shoulders and head. Because we were such well behaved children - 9, 12, and 15 yrs old!

Letterman, ok nothing to write home to mom about

Beach Boys several time. I still love their music.

The all time best concert I went to was the Eagles Farewell Tour.
Gave the tickets to my husband for Sweetest Day. Love their music also, but I think that I enjoyed watching my husband. He really got into the music and enjoyed himself, so it was worth every penny, especially at 50!!!!

Let me think back to days ago. Wow, this is some brain strain..LOL

Willie Nelson & Waylon Jenings(my first concert with my grandma. We rode a bus to the concert. It was a special group tour bus that picked you up & took you to concert, then delivered you home)

Hank Wiliams Jr (this was an awesome concert! My Dad took me!!)

Anne Murray (I loved her when I was young. I used to sing her songs for hours!)

Randy Travis (my best friends & I went to theis concert in college. We absolutely loved him!!)

Paula Abule & Bobby Brown (this was a wild concert!)

Poison & Ted Nugget (this was a concert at an amitheater & was awesome!!!)

Boys to men (I don't remember a lot about this concert)

Blue Man Group (I have seen them 3 times now & loved them each & everytime!!! Awesome show if you have not seen them!)

Just last Friday, my husband, daughter, a friend and I went to see Chicago and Kool and the gang. Kool opened for Chicago so we saw both groups in one night.
They were both excellent, of course, and very "high energy". We spent at least half of the time standing along with everyone else--too much "energy" to stay seated.
This is Chicago's 40th year by the way.

This is hysterical - went to so many when I was young that I've forgotten many. The ones that still stand out are:

Jimi Hendrix (I remember a fabulous light show with this one)

Cher (her farewell tour...fabulous costumes & great performer)

Cindi Lauper (love Girls Just Wanna have Fun - rest was boring to me)

New Kids on the Block (took my 11 yr. old daughter, as Joey was her first love & I was such a nice mommy that I drove 10 hrs. to this one)

The Beach Boys (when they were YOUNG...I LOVED their drummer Dennis Wilson & he talked to me. What a THRILL)

The Beach Boys (when they were OLD. I still LOVE their music, talked to Al afterwards)

Barry Manilow (won tickets & great showman & fun songs)

I've seen several others in the 60's & 70's like The Eagles, The Turtles, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Hermin's Hermits, The Doors. THANKS for the memories, Maria:)

Rex Smith was also in the movie "The Pirates of Penzance".

My musical tastes run from rock to classical.

Some that I have seen in concert:
Aerosmith - their first concert after 9/11...awesome and moving.

Roger Waters - he's better now than when he was with Pink Floyd. Did someone say reunion?

Boston - how do that lift that organ?

Dire Straits - one of the best I've ever seen

Sting - what can I say

The Who - before losing John Entwistle

Rush - 3 times
ZZ Top - 3 times
Fleetwood Mac - 3 times

Rolling Stones - they had to run Eddie Money off the stage

CSNY - WOW!

REM - takes my breath away

Beach Boys - how fun

Davy Jones - after the Monkees (cute!)

ELP - could listen to them all night

Who I would like to see...I never did make it to Bon Jovi :(

Some of them, I wondered "what was I thinking?!"

Alice Cooper

Scorpions

AC/DC - they were so loud I actually had to put kleenex in my ears...ouch!

Ahhhhhhh, concerts in th late 60's at Ball State University in Indiana: Peter, Paul, and Mary "Singin' in the Wind" and Simon & Garfunkle "Bridge Over Troubled Water". I was lucky to get 5th and 6th row seats in the very center and could see every move they made.
