Christmas Stampin All Year Long Challenge #19 (06-01-09)

Hi Friends!! It's Christmas Stampin All Year Long Challenge time again and this time Sankari of Sankari's Sunshine Corner will be hosting the challenge!! Sankari, along with Vicki and Debbie will be hosting a challenge each month. Whoohoo! Sankari is very talented and it'll be fun to see what awesome challenge she'll come up with each month. Click Here for Sankari's challenge. It's a fun one!! Hope you'll play along this week!!

Okay. . just a bit of info on my card. I didn't have a number stamp which the challenge is about so I decided to print the number off on transparency film and color in the number with my Stampin Up marker. I then applied embossing powder and heat embossed the number.
I then attached the transparency film on to a white card stock that was embossed. That's about it.

Hey. . .I wanted to tell you a little bit about the transparency film. On Saturday we decided to check out a few garage sales and this lady was selling two boxes of transparency film for a dollar each. OMG! Do you know how much these films cost at regular price? They run about 40 to 60 dollars. I totally scored big time!! LOL!

Anyway. . .be sure to stop by the Christmas Stampin All Year Long Challenge site and play along. It's June. . .just 6 more months and it'll be Christmas. You better start creating your cards now or you'll be suffering during the holidays!! This is a no stress way to be on top of your Christmas card creations!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Card Details:
Papers: Basic Grey designer paper, SU Old Olive, Real Red
Ink: SU markers, Sakura gel pen
Accessories: Nestabilities, Coluzzle circle template, clear embossing powder, Walmart ribbon, CB embossing folder

Stampin' Up Thank You Card

Hi Friends!! I'm not too sure about this card. . . .you know. . .whether I like it or not. LOL! I'm more in the direction of not liking it . . .I don't know, it looks kinda messy looking.

Did you all have a wonderful Saturday? Remember the other day, we went shopping at a store that was going out of business and everything was on sale for 50 to 80% off. Well, we decided to buy a projector. . .you know, the type where you can project a movie on a large screen or your wall. We decided to buy a large screen for the projector. It's fantastic because you can bring it on camping trips rather than having a small TV and such. Well, we tested it out last night in our backyard and we had movie night out on our patio. It was so fun! I told my daughter to invite a few of her friends during the summer and do an outdoor movie night. We can turn on the fireplace in the backyard, make smores and watch movies. She thought that would be a great idea.

Gosh I wish I had this sort of life when I was a kid. Life was quite different for me. I came from a conservative Catholic upbringing. This sort of stuff would have been considered frivolous and over indulgence. LOL!

Anyway. . .a little about my card. First of all I cut the flowers terribly. It must have been one of my moody days when I created this card. I've been having terrible lower back pain which really dampers my enthusiasm for anything. Half of the time I'm complaining about my back. I really need to get it checked but I know the primary reason for it. The 20+ lbs I gained is too much for my small petite frame. Seriously. . .I'm a small chick with a whole lot of weight burdening my bones. My bones weren't meant to carry all this extra weight. I have a size 6 1/2 shoe size and if I'm not careful, I may topple over or collapse my poor ankles. LOL! I'm not kidding.

I heat embossed the flowers with clear embossing flowers. In the last minute I decided to add the lace. I'm not sure I like the lace but I love my ribbon and bow. I think it's a pretty ribbon.

Anyway, it's another busy day. I need to drive my daughter to a testing site for a math exam she needs to take before she register for college. Unfortunately, it's a 45 minutes drive. I don't like to drive but oh, well. . .I gotta do what I gotta do.

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!!

I'll add the details of the card later. . .I can't remember the stamp set name. It's upstairs in my craft room and I'm blogging from my laptop downstairs.

Monika's Blog Candy

Hey Ladies! Monika at M.A.D. Stamper is having a blog candy. Stop by TODAY because it ends today! LOL! I'm always late on these awesome blog candies. Monika is giving away the awesome blog candy just because. Thanks Monika!!

Baby Card

Hi Friends! You're not going to believe this but I haven't stepped into my craft room since Wednesday. I think it's a record for me! LOL! I did step in but only to straighten things out a bit because my room was a mess. My husband took two days off from work and we hung out and did things like eat out, shop, and basically hung out. It's hard to craft when there's family stuff going on. Even something as mundane as watching TV. This is going to sound terrible but there's days when I'm on my laptop in the kitchen commenting on other people's blog and my husband would be talking to me for 15 minutes and when he stops talking, I just realized I did not hear a word he said. Later I'll ask him a question and he'll say, "I spent 10 minutes talking to you about it".. .I'm like "you did?". Terrible. I gotta stop that because he'll just stop talking to me all together! LOL!

I created this card a few weeks ago. It's one of my rainy day cards again. I actually have a few of them. They really come in handy on days when I haven't had time craft. You should try it. Create 2 or more cards when you can. . .don't post all of them. Do this for several days and believe it or not, you'll end up with over a week of cards and you can take a few days break and still have cards to post. That's my secret on my ability to post daily. LOL!

These images are from the Clear and "something" stamp set. Darn I can't remember the name of the company. I think it's "Clear and Simple" or something like that.

I really had fun creating this card. It turned out better than I expected. LOL!!

Sorry for the lack of a sketch. I've been blogging from my laptop and the software for my sketches are on my desk top. If I were smart, I would load the program on my laptop too.

Anyway. . .just a bit of info on my card. I colored the images with my Copic Markers and the dots were created using my Scribbles Iridescent Paint. I love that stuff.

I'm trying to catch up on commenting on blog friends' sites. It may take me a few hours but I'll get it done eventually.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

The Greeting Farm Shepard Boy

Hi Friends!! Gosh, I haven't had time to blurf and visit my blog friends! Sorry about that. I've been busy with life. Thank goodness for my stock pile of cards so I have something to post. I'll stop by and say hello this evening.

My daughter had her "Senior Grad Night" last night and all the seniors went to Disneyland from midnight to 6 in the morning. Southern California high school seniors participate in this event. Disneyland remains open from midnight until morning and only high school seniors are allowed to enter. It's like a school field trip. My daughter said that Disneyland was packed full like it was on New Years. Have you ever been to Disneyland on New Years? We did for the past 3 years and it's a shocking experience. I've never seen so many people in one place. It's NUTZ!

Anyway. . because my daughter wasn't home last night, my husband and I stopped by the Pachengo Casino & Resort. We have a huge casino about 10 minutes from where we live. I was a smart girl. I only lost 20 dollars. LOL! It's funny because I say that I lost money and I'm a smart girl for that. A 20 dollar loss is a good thing. I've lost more in the past and I would spend days mulling over my loss. My husband don't like going to the casino because he says when I lose even a small amount, I get upset over it. I know people lose hundreds and thousands of dollars and keep going back. If I even lose 50 dollars, I have deep regrets and don't want to go back! LOL!

Hopefully, I'll have time this evening to sit down and blurf and make a card. I haven't stepped in my craft room for 2 days.

I made this card over a week ago. The image is by the Greeting Farm. I love this image. This set is fantastic. . .I think it's an Easter set but honestly, you can use it for any occasion. . . especially if you want to make a "spiritual" type of card.

I colored the image with my Copic Markers and drew in the grass.

Anyway. . I gotta run again. My daughter just got home from her fun trip and we're now heading out to eat breakfast and do some shopping. There's a store that's going out of business and everything is 80% off so we want to get what we can while there's good stuff still being sold. We don't want to go there when there's only left overs.

Hope you all have a fantastic day!!

Paper: DCWV designer Paper, SU Blue Bayou, Certainly Celery
Ink: Copic Markers, Scribbles Iridescent paint

InStyle Stamps Thankful Thursday Challenge

Hi Friends! I meant to post this card earlier but I attended my daughter's Senior Awards Ceremony last night and also, my husband came home from his business trip last night. I wanted to pre-post the card but it would have been rude if I told my husband "excuse me, honey. . .I know you just got home but I have more important things to do . . .like blog. LOL! I need his support. . .he's the guy who pays for all my craft stuff! Gotta be nice to him. LOL!

Anyway. . .today is Instyle Stamps Thankful Thursday challenge!! Whoohoo! It's my week to create a sketch for the Thankful Thursday challenge.

It's my last card/assignment for InStyle Stamps so why don't you participate in the challenge so I'll go out with a bang! LOL! Yeah, my 6 months stint as a designer with Instyle Stamps ends this month. So sad. I really had a fun time creating cards for their awesome images!!! Thank you Virginia (owner) for giving me the wonderful opportunity to be part of your very first design team.

Okay. . .so be sure to participate in the challenge using my sketch as a farewell to me. LOL! Stop by Instyle Stamps blog and comment on my post there with a link to your card.

Check out "Mary" . . .who by the way is an awesome multi-tasker. . .sort of like all of us, huh . I colored her with my Copic Markers. . .and the rest of the card was following the sketch and adding a few embellishments.

Anyway. . .I gotta run. My husband is waiting for me . . .he took the day off so we could do something. . . .maybe eat lunch somewhere.

Hope y'all have a wonderful day!!

More and More the Greeting Farm Cards

Hi Friends! Okay, I've been holding off on you all! I had made a bunch of the Greeting Farm cards and was going to post it daily but decided to post them all at once! LOL! I've been a good girl and have been creating like a mad woman! I go through this hyper state of crafting then "bam!", I sort of go through a hibernation mode and don't create for days.

Are you the type that can only create when you're "in the mood". I am. I can be pretty crafty when I'm in the mood but when I'm not, I can't even step into my craft room. Luckily, I don't have too many days when I don't want to make a card or project but I do have my moments!

Anyway. . .on to my cards. This image is called "Hula Anya". It's one of my favorites. I'm originally from Hawaii so this image is just my style. Isn't Anya gorgeous in her hula skirt dancing the hula at the beach with the sun setting in the background? I think so.

Card Details:

Stamps: The Greeting Farm Hula Anya, Autumn Leaves
Paper: K&Co designer paper, SU Summer Sun (I think), Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink
Ink: Copic Markers, Sakura Gel Pen
Accessories: Making Memories Ribbon, Stickles, EK Success border punch, Fiskar scallop scissors

Hey today is my daughter's Senior Award night. This is the night when students are recognized for their achievements. I'm excited for my daughter. She'll be receiving a few Stoles. I'll tell you about it tomorrow. I'll be sure to take a few pictures.

Okay. . .this sweetie is "Dahlia. She also has sort of a Hawaiian girl look with the pretty flower in her hair. I colored her with my Copic Markers.
The flower is by SU. . .it's from the "Playful Petals" set. I watercolored the flower with my Twinkling H2o which gives the image a shimmery appearance.

Card Details:

Stamps: The Greeting Farm Dahlia, Showtime
Paper: SU So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, K&CO designer paper
Ink: Copic Markers, Twinkiling H2O
Accessories: Making Memories Ribbon, Stickles, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8 circle punches, CB embossing Folder, Coluzzule Oval Template, Fiskar scallop scissors

Hey. . .guess what I did. I bought a whole bunch of Nesties. I've been using my Coluzzle templates and scallop scissors all this time but I wanted a bigger scallop on my shapes so I decided to go ahead and buy them. I actually have the oval and circle scallops but rarely use them. I'm such a lazy stamper that I hate bringing out tools from my closet and doing the extra stuff such as running a die through a machine! LOL! Believe it or not, cutting the oval shape with my Coluzzle and cutting the scallop with my scissors are a faster process for me. Once I receive my Nesties, I'll make it a habit to use them.

Okay. . .a little bit about this cutie. This Ian is from the Matey set. Isn't he the cutest or what?

Do you see that frame shape? I had it for ages. I happen to look in a container and I saw a package of scrapbooking frames that I bought like 3 years ago.

The dots on the frame and scallops were created using the Scribbles Iridescent paint. It gives the dots a raised look rather than flat dots.

Anyway. . .hope you all have a wonderful day!

Card Details:

Stamps: The Greeting Farm Matey
Paper: DCWV designer paper, SU Basic Black, Red (?)
Ink: Copic Markers, Scribbles Iridescent Paint, Sakura Gel Pen
Accessories: Jolee's by You, SU 1 3/8 circle punch and scallop circle punch, frame (forgot the brand)

Pink Cat Studio Jodi's Geometric Challenge #2

Hey Good Evening, Friends!! It's my second post for the day. Remember a few days back I created a card for the Pink Cat Studio Challenge. Well, I had forgotten an element to the challenge so I decided to work on another challenge card. I later fixed my first card but decided to continue on and finish this second card. So needless to say, I made two cards for the challenge. To check out the challenge details: Click Here There's a prize to be given out so be sure to play along!!

Hey . . .I'm really proud of myself. Guess what I did today? I mowed the lawn. LOL! Big deal, you say. Trust me. . .it's a big deal . . .for me, that is. We have a fairly big yard and I even did the dog play area. They have a whole area all to themselves and I mowed their section too!

I think this is the most work out I've had in a long time. I can't wait to show my husband my accomplishment. LOL! He comes home from his trip tomorrow night . . .boy, he'll be surprised.

Anyway . .just a little info on my card. I drew the simple background and colored Lily with my Copic Markers. Do you see the aquarium within the circles. . .they're embellishments by Jolees By You. No, I didn't make them. LOL!

Be sure to stop by the Pink Cat Studio's blog and check out the challenge. There's a prize to be given out so be sure to play!!

Anyway. . .hope y'all have a wonderful evening!

Multi-color Crayon Embossing Resist Tutorial

Happy Memorial Day, Friends!! What did you all do today? Well, my husband left for his business trip this morning and initially, I was going to stay at home and maybe make some cards, blurf, etc. . .but I decided to visit a town about 15 minutes away from where I live.

It's funny because we've lived in California for 4 years and we've never visited this particular town. A few weeks ago, we had to drive my daughter there to take a writing test for college and we were quite surprised how many shops, restaurants, and stores there were in this town and it was only 15 minutes away.

In my younger days, I was a bit more adventurous but as I grew older, I don't know what happened to me. I sort of became comfortable staying in one place, never venturing out. . .less curious about the world. I think this happens when your life becomes a routine and the need to do anything different from the norm becomes less important.

Anyway. . .to make a long story short. . .my daughter and I spent the day in this town just looking around, shopping, and eating lunch there. It was fun. We even found a store that was going out of business and everything was 50 to 80% off! How fun!!

Okay. . .now to my card. I made this card this morning. It was quite fast and easy. My goal was to keep things simple. I think I managed to keep the card simple enough. What do you think?

I created the background using the Multi-color embossing resist technique and the tutorial is provided below. It's a tutorial I created about a year ago. It's not a new technique but if you want to try out my version, scroll down to the tutorial below.

I created the flower using the SU Fifth Avenue Floral set using the same technique but cut out the flowers and layered them.

I actually have a lot of cards to post. . .I was a good girl yesterday and made a bunch of cards and I'll post a few of them tomorrow.

Hope you all have a beautiful day!

Card Details:

Stamps: SU Fifth Avenue Floral, Designer Labels
Paper: SU Pretty in Pink, So Saffron (I think)
Ink: SU Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
Accessories: SU Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, White embossing powder, SU Vanilla Hodge Podge hardware, Designer Label Punch, Scallop edge punch, CB Embossing folder

With the tutorial below, if you want to print it, click on the drop menu that is labeled "more". It'll give you the option to print. You may also save it on to your computer. You may view a full page of the tutorial by clicking on the icon to the very top right corner. It'll open up a new window. If you just want to enlarge directly on the blog, click on the + button or the magnifying glass! Anyway, try the tutorial out when you have a chance!

Christmas Stampin All Year Long Challenge #18

Happy Memorial Day, Friends!! It's Monday and it's Christmas Stampin All Year Long challenge time again. This week is a sketch challenge and we're on number 18 already! Yipee. this week it's a simple challenge this time around. Check out the Sketch Challenge Here. Hope you'll play along this week!

I decided to use The Greeting Farm "Rain Snow Shine" stamp set. Isn't she pretty? I had fun creating this card. It's so much easier to create a card with a sketch.

Whenever I create a card, although I create a sketch for my card and post it along with my cards, I create the sketch after I created the card. Rather than following a sketch, I create the sketches on my blog following my card.

As I stated yesterday, my husband is leaving for a business trip. I feel bad for him because he hates going on business trips. He'll be returning on Wednesday immediately after his meeting. He rarely if ever stays any longer than he has to.

Anyway, a little about my card. . .same ole' same ole'. . colored my card with Copics and that's it. I should stop telling you all what I do. . .it's basically the same thing pretty much on all my cards. LOL!

Be sure to stop by Christmas Stampin All Year Long and check out the beautiful cards created by the DT.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Card Details:

Stamps: The Greeting Farm Rain Snow Shine, SU
Papers: SU designer paper, Dejaview dp, SU Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, Riding Hood Red
Ink: Copic Markers, SU Brilliant Blue, Bordering Blue
Accessories: DCWV chipboards, Fiskar Scallop Scissors, Organdy Ribbon, Stickles Glitter, CB embossing Folder

The Greeting Farm Hope & Grace and Blog Candy I Won

Happy Sunday, Friends!! What are your plans for Memorial Day? I have no plans. My husband is leaving for a business trip on Monday so the day will be quiet or maybe not.

When my husband is on a business trip, a lot of times I'll eat at places that I know my husband don't like to eat or I'll visit a town that my husband don't normally care to visit. Maybe my daughter and I will go somewhere and do something different.

Hey, I was thinking of joining a jazz dance class for the summer. I'm so sedentary sometimes. . .I need to do something that will get me moving. I was initially thinking of joining an aerobics class but I hate it that I can't keep up and all the ladies don't appear like they are about to die half way through the routine. Argggh! I would join if the at least 1/3 of the ladies would stop jumping around . . .at about the same time that I do. LOL!

It's sort of silly because I'm thinking, I'll join an aerobics class when I can get through a whole routine without stopping. . .but how do I do that without having to do it on my own initially. But if I do it my self with a DVD. . .what's the point in joining. Do you see the irony in that? LOL!

Anyway. . .this card was created using The Greeting Farm Hope & Grace set. This little lady is Hope. I decided to go all pink. . .I haven't made an all pink card for a while now.

I colored Hope with my Copic Markers and basically that's it to the card.

Anyway. . .I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Card Details:

Stamps: The Greeting Farm Hope & Grace
Paper: Designer Paper (not sure), SU Pretty In PInk, Pixie Pink
Ink: Copic Markers
Accessories: Fiskar scallop Scissors, Coluzzle Oval Template, buttons, Basic Basic ribbon, SU Key tag punch

Hey. . I just want to show you all the Blog Candy I won from Heather at Stamping the Details a few weeks ago! Yipee. I rarely win any blog candy but I've gotten lucky a few times. Check out all the goodies I won and the pretty card that Heather made. I already used some of the ribbons on several of the cards I made and had posted. Thank you Heather! I can think of a lot of things to create with all the lovely stuff I won and your card is simply adorable. I love them all!
