Stampin Up A Thing of Beauty

Hey Friends!! I decided to publish another post. I was going to save it for tomorrow but I had stamped the image on this card down stairs in the family room and the stamp set was downstairs. Because I'm on my lap top in the kitchen, the stamp set was readily accessible so I can write the recipe to this card! LOL! The image on this card is from a seriously old Stampin Up stamp set. . .so old that it's mounted on foam. I think I bought it from Ebay because I didn't know anything about stamping when SU was still using foam to mount their stamps.

There is a really good reason why I don't sell my old stamp sets. Styles of stamps seem to circulate every few years. The older Stampin Up sets were "outline" stamps and it appears to be popular right now. A year or two ago, solid stamps were the jazz but with clear stamps and digi stamps becoming more popular. . .I think solid stamps aren't as popular right now and well, solid stamps don't work very well with digi stamps.

Are you a fan of digi stamps? I have mixed feelings about it. Why? Well, to some degree, it takes away from the art of stamping. I sometimes feel like the images are similar to "coloring books". You know what I mean? On the other hand, I like them because of their versatility of modifying the size, the quick access to the image and it's really easy to just print it off on a printer. No more messed up inked images.

Not to change the subject. . . what are your plans for Mother's Day? We're going to the winery for Sunday brunch. Yummy. Wow, the menu looked very delish. . I can't wait. I'm all about food and craft stuff. I once told my husband that my needs are really simple. All I need are good food, good books, a computer, and craft stuff. I don't even need a big house. . or a bedroom, just a craft room! LOL!

Shhhh, don't tell my husband this but if my husband and I were to ever get a divorce, a good way to get back at me is to split my craft stuff 50/50. Ugggh! That would be horrible. He can take all my good clothes, shoes, the furniture but if he tries to stake claim to my craft stuff, I'm in for the battle.

No . . we're not thinking of getting a divorce but it was just a thought. LOL! Imagine that. . .I would pay a lawyer big money to keep all of my craft stuff.

Anyway, enough of the silliness. I actually colored the image with my Prismacolor Pencils with Gamsol! Yipee! No Copics this time around.

There's nothing much to this card except for the ribbon and border. That's it.

Anyway. . I hope you all have a wonderful evening!!

I have never ever seen this stamp set but it's CUTE! I agree line stamps are back in style...since a lot of us love to colour with copics now, especially ;)
I'm ROFL @ divorcing and splitting craft/stamping stuff 50/50....that is horrifying now that I think about it...lol

I hope you have a WONDERFUL Mother's Day girl! You deserve it!

I have no clue what our plans are...it's always a pleasant surprise!

Maria, stunning card again as usual.

I do like the versatility of digi stamps, but also want the "real" thing. There are pros and cons to both.

For Mother's Day we are going to China Garden and then hopefully come home and have a quiet day and watch a movie, lounge around, etc OH and get my CSAYL card done. Ü

Wonderful card!
I am not a fan of digi stamps. I have a new printer but it still doesn't use the "right" ink so everytime I use a digi stamp it smears. I'll stick with "real" stamps!!

Your card is so very pretty.Your details are always awesome. I agree with you about stamp styles coming back. I must have missed this pretty set from Stampin'Up.

I have used a digital stamp and even turned one "real" stamped image into a digital image to use. I would rather have my rubber or acrylic stamps but for covenience sake using a digital image is okay. However, I have a good printer but I'm still not quite sold about using it for stamping images.

Happy Mother's Day, Maria.
